Low end GPU for H.264 4K24P decoding, desktop work, 3 monitor support etc

Is it based on a mobile chip or something?

those dell's buyer must be a special kind of retard

Qt 710 for me
>>
Does it cost more than $50?
>>
I wish there were a low profile version. Although maybe I could replace the bracket and unplug the VGA ribbon cable and make it fit into a low profile slot.
>>
>>52636098
Dual DVI is $51
Low profiles are $42
>>52636190
Except for the dual DVI model, it comes with a low profile bracket.
>>
>>52636208
Not bad. I might put one of these in my work computer and get an additional monitor.
>>
>>52635034
just need a motherboard with displayport
>>
>>52636237
That's what it's shooting for I guess: work stations and maybe low end HTPCs.

You'd be surprised how much of the desktop PC hardware market consists of people upgrading Dell prebuilts.
>>
>>52636237
you can buy a graphics card with multi monitor support for less than $25. their performance will not be good but you can.

Is that PCIex4?
If so, it might even have a purpose in an enthusiast computer, given it has CUDA or NVENC.....
>Check
>It does
Through that in an AMD rig, and use that over AMD's abysmal offers--what is it called......
>>
>>52636326
Looks like x8
>>
>>52635823
Having a dedicated gpu really will help the computer last longer.
>>
>>52636326
It's not really necessary, you can modify your card or your slot to fit in a smaller slot or accept larger cards, respectively

A shit computer is a shit computer--you're only making it last as long as the user is willing to put up with it.

Considering most browser are hardware-accelerated, it might be useful pre-Sandybridge/i7 , but generally speaking, you're better of buying a new computer, than trying to make granny hobble with a cane.

>Companies still buy these though
>Because $50 and a still slow-ass computer....
>Is cheaper than $400 and a computer that you can actually get work done on
>>
>>52632943

It would be nice if there was a PCIex1 card, but generally speaking, I would avoid jury-rigging by sawing off additional lanes.

Sure, you can throw it in a larger slot, but then you could just buy a full-length card anyways--there are plenty of enthusiast motherboards with x4 lanes though.
>>
>>52636489
It's almost exclusively an issue with old people.
For some people a Pentium 4 Dell that hasn't shit the bed just yet is the practical equivalent of the 1967 Ford Mustang who they bought when they were 18 years old and have taken care of it since, and would much rather pay to keep it working rather than save money and buy a new one.
>>
>>52632943
>Carl, no-one will buy this!
>It's allright Jim, we'll throw in a COM port.
>>
>>52636553
I was saying you can throw an x16 card in an x4 slot with or without modification of the card itself. You just need to dremel off the back of the slot, then you can put an x16 card in any sized slot given there's nothing blocking the additional lanes

Ever since I've fried my two Ivybridges, including a 3770K, trying to delid them, I always avoid destructive jury-rigging.

>Go to use the block and mallet method
>Wood is too soft and splits the PCB
>Razer blade method works
>But then you're left with an exposed chip with a floating heatspreader
>Probably manhandled it too much trying to reattach the heatspreader because it eventually stopped posting

Those were dark times, and lessons were learned.

>>
>>52636738
Yes, because delidding a $350 CPU is comparable to cutting a piece of plastic
>>
>>52635034
Actually, they do. Plenty of laptops let you use integrated screen+2 externals using integrated graphics. It's just a matter of whether the board has enough ports.

No thanks--a working dysfunctional product is better than an improved broken one.

Knowing me, I'd still find a way to fuck it up.

Amd is also good at creating charts like this

You fuck up delidding the CPU and your whole purchase is fucked. You fuck up on this and your PCIe slot is fucked, if not just the last lane. You still have a functional motherboard unless you have a fucking seizure or something while using the dremel

I don't understand how people can even do basic internet shit on P4's like they claim without creating a hole from the amount of foot-tapping created while waiting for the browser to process any given page

There's so much terribly-optimized scripting everywhere that begs for at least a dual core CPU with single-threaded performance that breaks the double-digits, I had to use an HT P4 while waiting for my new parts to come in, and it felt the same way I remember browsing the internet on a 486 while my K6-III down
