This is why you can enable ads on sites you want to make money from displaying ads.

If you're losing money on this you should find a better revenue stream.

Ten years ago, I would have answered this question

Today the sites I have in mind are either evolved into cancerous ad-site networks or bought out by one

And I literally mean cancerous as in the network buys out good sites and turn them into frankensteinian abominations of slow-ass, ad-ridden design

I kind of agree to a point that adblocker will ruin the web, however I'm very careful of what I let into my subconscious. I don't consume anything shallow or mainstream, and advertisements create mental clutter and destroy your soul. I'd rather live a pure life of watching beautiful art films like The Cremaster Cycle on my gentoo machine, I don't taint my mind with nonsense

Nah, ideally it really should really work both ways. The internet isn't a Minitel.
But yes, and as someone who started his life working as an intern in the online ads industry, fuck ads.
>>
>>52612934
>you have no right to decide and control what your computer downloads and displays for your from a random site.
Just because there are script tags and links on your site it's not mandatory to download and run/display all content. It's my computer, I do whatever I want on it and if I decide to run an ad blocker it's my decision and you can't do anything about it.
>b..but it's stealing
It's not. If you don't like adblockers than don't display your main content for people that use them. It's really not hard to detect.

Ads as a business model were doomed from the very moment the fake close button was invented.

It would be fine as a static element (and probably a lot harder to block), but with all the animations and tracking bullshit, it is simply unacceptable.

I use electricity and I pay CompanyX that provides it.
I don't pay the advertisers, that place their ads on the CompanyX property that is near highways and such.
And when I pass by them, I choose to ignore them by not looking, just as I choose to ignore web ads by either not looking or using adblocking software - as if not looking at it - adv. company has no business of forcing me, which way I choose to ignore it.

Women dressing a certain way can't fuck up my computer, track me, etc. Ads can. It's cool that they want to make money, but since they've chosen a method I've decided is too risky to allow on my machines (let alone the fact I've nothing to lose from them not being there), I block their money.

Also on the topic of content creators
>view content
>think it's complete and utter shit
>creator still gets rewarded because an ad loaded along with content
Why do you think it's a good idea to give people money they don't deserve. If the person truly creates content I enjoy I will willingly give them money.
