Which one is superior?
>>
380 is faster and atleast where I live, cheaper.
960 has (subjectively) better drivers, physx and uses less power.

Neither is definitely better, pick the card that suits your priorities best.
>>
960.
Consumes less power, higher frequency, is shorter, has more ports and is cheaper.
AMD is known for problems while Nvidia just weeks.
>>
>>52601742
Price depends where you live, in the uk it's around £20 cheaper to buy the 380 than the 960.
>>
>>52601789
They're the same price here in Sweden if you get the cheapest versions, but the Asus 960 is £21.68 cheaper than the Gigabyte 380.
>>
>>52601691
I've got a 380x which is basically a 10-15% more powerful 380 and its pretty good, I can run every game I own max settings 1080p 60fps.

If you got a single 980 or 390x, you would have much better performance for the same price and less problems with the pile of shit that is SLI.

You're fucking retarded.

Yeah I got the 2nd card for $150 so total in for me was only ~$360 anyway. I have a 980ti in the other PC and yeah, it's way better, not even gonna try to cover that up.

Just to make you feel better since clearly you are suffering from some abnormal anal intrusion, here's the ti score. But this thread is about the 960...
>>
>>52601691
380 is the better card. 380x would be even better but only if you can get it without paying much more.

the power and heat arguments are valid but the 380 scores noticably better on benchmarks and at the end that's what counts most.
>>
>>52601691
In that size, I'd say the 960, it can get away with two fans far better than the 380 can, which would struggle to keep cool with just two.
>>
>>52601738

>better drivers

Other than that you were correct.

Not when you have to buy a new PSU as well.

the 960 is subpar to the 380 at stock clocks when paired with a high end CPU, if you pair it with a budget CPU then the 960 will beat it even at stock clocks to AMD's crippled DX11 drivers

http://www.techspot.com/review/1017-best-budget-gaming-cpu/page2.html

keep in mind that all maxwell based chips can overclock ~500mhz above their stock clocks with no voltage increase, so you get a free 20-30% performance boost on top of,this that you won't get on AMD
>>
also, considering AMD's primary shareholders and investment all come from saudi arabia these days it's very morally questionable as to whether you even should be buying their products.

you are likely helping ISIS indirectly by giving money to AMD.
>>
>>52603055
Maxwell overclocks higher, but scales worse than GCN when overclocking.
Plus with the silicon lottery, overclocking shouldn't factor in your decision to buy a card.
>>
>>52603140
By that logic, you assist ISIS every time you pump gas into your car.
>>
>>52601969
What games do you have?
>>
>>52603166
>Plus with the silicon lottery, overclocking shouldn't factor in your decision to buy a card.

it's not a lottery, every maxwell card can reach 1500mhz core clock. the lottery is what you can get after that point.

I guess the 9590 is the best CPU on the market then, since it has a 4.7GHz base clock and 5GHz turbo. Intel BTFO.

Overclocking the 960 only brings it in line with a stock 380.

>By that logic, you assist ISIS every time you pump gas into your car.

no it isn't you retard, because ISIS oil isn't being sold in the west and is in extremely small quantities

AMD is literally being bankrolled by the same people who bankroll ISIS. their interests obviously align, which is what makes it so shady and explains why AMD isn't focused on making good products.

The only Nvidia card worth getting is the 980TI. At every other price point AMD cards are the clearly superior choice.

>>"$250 GPU" actual MSRP is $300

the 970 has been $250 for over 6 months now

>>"$500" AMD GPU actually costs $370

at the time of lauch and of the review the bench is from it was $500

>>forgets to mention that the $300 "$250 GPU" is also beating Nvidia's own $420 GPU, so this is clearly not a normal scenario

it's a factory OCed card being compared to a reference card, nothing abnormal about it

>>all averages shown in the test are within a range of less than 5 FPS from each other

and? NVIDIA achieves that performance using half the power and costing half the money.

>>refer to techpowerup's performance summary for actual representation of how the cards perform on average across multiple games

actually, TPU is incredibly biased. their results aren't corroborated by any other review and they have a history of shilling AMD (nano incident).

Why do you keep lying like this when anybody can go on Newegg and PCPartPicker at any time and see that's a lie?

>at the time of lauch and of the review the bench is from it was $500
Are you retarded? The 390X was never $500, it's launch price was $430. Also, back then the 970 was $330.

>NVIDIA achieves that performance using half the power and costing half the money
First, $330 vs. $430 was not half the money then, and $300 vs. $370 is not half the money today.
Second, even at stock the 970 does not consume half the power of a 390X (see pic related). Let alone after throwing the power efficiency out the window by overclocking.

>TPU is incredibly biased. their results aren't corroborated by any other review
Source?
I see the same kinds of results on both Anandtech and TechSpot, the two other sites I follow. Also, what /g/ has always told me was that techpowerup is biased towards Nvidia, this is the first time I'm hearing anyone say the contrary. And if you want to take aledged bias into account, I always hear HardOCP is heavily Nvidia-biased, so your graph would be bullshit too.

From http://www.techspot.com/review/1019-radeon-r9-390x-390-380/page7.html
The difference between load consumption on the worst case scenario is about 50W. So unless the 970 consumes only 50W and the 390X consumes 100W, the "consumes half the power" thing is entirely bullshit.
>>
>>52603196

What is faster, a 7970 overclocked to 1 ghz, a 380 or a gtx 960?
>>
>>52604164
7970
>>
>>52604164
Without much tesselation, 7970 overclocked.
With substantial tesselation, 380, due to improved tesselation engine in Tonga.
>>
>>52604204
>>52604232
I recently got the 7970 and I hadn't tested it yet (I'm still waiting for the power supply).
Is it a good card? What should I expect from it?
>>
>>52602211
I have 770 4gb sli and it run perfectly
And basically, the retarded one is you
>>
>>52604277
When overclocked it will outperform the 380 in most (current) games, and obviously the 960 as well. 3 GB is enough for 1080p for the time being.

Compared to Tonga (380/380X) you're getting 1 GB less VRAM, lower tesselation performance and a bit worse DX12 support. If you got it for a low enough price, it was a good deal.
>>
>>52604352
>SLI'ing a non-flagship card, ever
