I'm im the exact same situation as OP, but I already have a TP-Link powerline. It sucks however, loses connection like every 2 hrs, and it wont come back till I unplug it and plug it in or wait for about 5 mins.

No, if you use cable TV then get MoCA adapters and you should get line speed Internet and wired latency without the variability of PowerLine adapters.

Just be sure to buy a moca filter so the signal doesn't leave the household. It costs like seven bucks and will prevent your neighborhood from joining your moca network.

What this anon is saying could be true, if your house is wired parallel-wise. If most electronics in your house are wired in a serial fashion, like my pre-WWII shit housing, powerline ethernet will get you worse speeds than wi-fi because of signal interference.

It's literally only a problem if you have old shitty electronics that are not properly EMC shielded and emit fucktons of interference down the power lines.
Old washing machines are dryers are the perfect example, sometimes even microwaves.

If anything, getting bad performance with powerline adapters just gives you an indicator of the shit your PSU has to put up with, and maybe a little early warning that's it's going to die well before it should.

Basically put an oscilloscope on the connection between the plug and the wall socket when it's running.
Problem is it's very difficult to filter out any noise already on the lines from other stuff, so you'd need to do a before and after and see the difference.

Ferrite beads can help to some degree, but can also make things worse if you don't know what you're doing.

In some ways the best thing to do is just isolate problem devices from the main lines, using a UPS or whatever.
