I think I'm dealing with a potential child pornogropher. He like many people who drop off pcs to get repaired sometimes underestimate their issues.
I noticed while attempting to clone his drive there was a 7gb folder i can't copy or get access too and his carbonite system has never backed up his folder in the seven years it's been created.
I've come across this several times in my experience as a pc tech but i can't access it trough any means like forcing admin privileges or accessing it trough a separate computer.
This guy is pretty good and my natural curiosity is mingling with my job to back up EVERYTHING. And he's insisting that he gets the drive back.
Why does it have to be child porn specifically? Normal people often hide their regular porn to keep their nosy wives/girlfriends from finding their stash. And, of course he's insisting he gets the drive back: if it works then why the fuck would he allow you to keep it and force him to buy a new one? You're paranoid and stupid. Just do your job and move on.
It could very well be legal porn that he's simply embarrassed about and doesn't want anyone to see it.
Stop being a fucking faggot and give him his fucking drive back, jackass.
Let him fap to his trannies or whatever in peace.
I'd do anything you can legally do. Just don't do something that could get you in trouble as well.
You could report it to the police, but I'm not sure they'd do anything without some hard evidence.
Wow nice you're trying to break into all of his financial information, fuck off you retarded kneejerk faggot.
Either that or all he has in there are just fucking pictures.
I've done it several times.
You honestly think I'm doing this for fun? I'm backing up the drive, everything backed up but this one folder that's hidden and is inaccessible and was created and never backed up in seven years.
>while attempting to clone his drive there was a 7gb folder i can't copy or get access too
How is this possible?
I understand it could be encrypted but you should still be able to copy it, or just dd the whole drive then mount it and see whats it all the about
Imagine finding 7gb of ultra rare porn.. Dear lord
I know the ways to do it. But this folder is the hardest I've ever worked to get to the files.
I can't it won't let me copy or access it. The folder is completely locked the fuck down. No reading, writing or access.
>But this folder is the hardest I've ever worked to get to the files.
what the fuck are you even on about?
If its a folder, copy it. If you can't copy it, its not a folder. It can't be "hard to copy" you fucking imbecile. I smell bullshit.
If he can stop the average PC tech from getting into a locked file and cares about his privacy and watches CP then he browses /g/.
Now that the obvious has been said, give me back my hard drive you little shit
>admitting to looking at his financial records
l0l good luck proving you didnt put a fucking encrypted container there to try and extort him
g fucking g
You really think someone who browses hear would drop their computer off at a tech repair store?
>His records are in different folders.
I hope that's legal. You're playing a dangerous game looking through it. Please don't do anything that will get you into legal trouble as well.
Just do what you can legally do and if there's good evidence, file a police report.
I didn't look just going by folder names. Regardless of your opinion and thoughts on the matter i got past it finally mounting it in Linux.
It's pretty much what I thought. Time to wrap this shit up.
No. The thing with cp users is that they assume places like mine won't report them like "geek squad" I've been here three years and must get at lest two going on my fourth and it's already started
OP doesn't seem like a repair store. Seems like a guy who fixes computers. I consider myself beyond the scope of a technician but even I can't do things that some places offer like hard ware repairs and data recovery from failed devices.
dd is dumb (stores unused blocks), and you can't use it on mounted file systems. (well, you can, if you're retarded)
It's good for OPs case and general mirroring, but there are better back up tools.
>created and never backed up in seven years
Because, he created it seven years ago with some harmless pr0n then forgot about it.
>Reporting someone for having child pornography
This is the real crime, honestly. Unless you have evidence that the man is *producing* child pornography, then it's morally incorrect to hand him over to a system which will do nothing to help him overcome his paraphilia.
What proof do you have that he has CP?
Also bravo, all the evidence you've now tampered.
td;dr it is now possibly not admissible in court because you've changed the data
