>>52530859 >>52530735 I have an old eMac with defunct HD and CD, and, when I find some time and scrap parts, I have a plan to turn it into nostalgy OS9 machine (my only slightly newer Mac will not boot into OS9 anymore). Maybe try the same?
>>52530735 Depends if you can put it some place that would be useful. Personally I don't have a PC at my work bench so I'd install Linux and set it up there for when I need to look something up or just stream music or videos.
>>52530996 I have a slot loading iMac G3 450MHz with a gig of ram in it running Mac OS 9.1 and I want to install OSX 10.4 on it so it can be somewhat useful. Only thing is I have no idea how to upgrade it and whether or not I can just burn a DVD with an iso found online.
>>52531264 With an free app Disco, You can (depend of ISO)... but it's an OSX app... But maybe on Win You can too. Check first on everymac.com or somewhere similar place if Your machine is actually capable of (seems it is http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/faq/imac-g3-macos-preinstalled-macos-9-x-compatibility.html). Place a disc in the slot and choose proper system in Startup Disk control panel or just start it with 'c' key pressed. The rest is simple. I dunno if it destroy your OS9, put probably not.
>>52530735 >os9 machine for old games and DAWs >aesthetic clock/terminal/other display piece >basic productivity system >DVD player >programming, explore the PowerPC architecture >sell it or donate it to someone who needs a computer for job applications or email
A computer's a computer senpai, the possibilities are limitless.
>>52531264 god why, that thing is infinitely more useful with the massive Macintosh Garden abandonware library for 9.1 than crawling along at a snails pace running 10.4 with no software. ultimately the only practical advantage you'll get is being able to browse the web with JS on but it will be so excruciating that you might as well kill yourself
>>52532540 well I (>>52531511) used this 700 mhz emac as my main machine from 2007 till 2014 and still use 10.4 on a slightly newer PowerMac. And only recently I started to feel a need for upgrade, but it is still usable OS anyway.
>>52532624 daily drove a high-end config early '02 iMac G4 with 10.4 through most of the summer, it was usable but it was noticeably slow even for me as a patient shitbox collector who's used to dealing with older hardware being pushed like that
there's still nothing stopping him from doing it of course, I just don't really think it will be as "useful" as he thinks it will be
01) take camera and start recoding 02) open a picture of baby goat 03) ejaculate on screen 04) pour oil on it 05) lit fire 06) sing numa numa song while emac burns 07) stop recoding when emac stops working 08) upload video to youtube 09) monetize video 10) shill video on /b/ 11) ... 12) profit.
Disassemble it and put a Raspberry Pi or some shit inside. Although it's originally a piss-poor PPC Mac, there are two things that makes it stand out: • It's a really, really comfy CRT • The form factor is cute
It'd be a shame to throw it away. It's the last computer Apple made before they went full "display and a leg lol" -mode
>>52541958 I haven't found a good 17" 16:10 screen on eBay (and I'm not sure they exist), but it would have the ability to have 1-2 external monitors also anyways. I want the emac itself to look relatively stock.
