Has anyone made a worthy successor to this piece of shit? I like the idea of a device with 100 GB+ storage and decent battery life and audio playback quality but the second hand market for these is utterly retarded and I'd rather not have to deal with the cancer that is iTunes.

Out of luck I bought that piece of shit for 20 bucks. Replaced the harddrive with a 256 sdxc card.

Pretty happy with it.

FiiO X1 user here.

The interface is fine, there was some lag on the scrollwheel but it was fixed with a firmware upgrade.

I don't use the library as i prefer to use folders for albums and playlists, which works really well.

The sound quality on the X1 is superb for the price and you can get as much storage you want thanks to the micro-sd card.

Use your phone if it supports SD cards. If batter is a problem, buy pic related, smaller than a new player and you just doubled your battery life.
