I use W10 solely as a gaming platform, and I haven't had a single OS-related crash. Some programs might need to be run in compatibility mode, which is no big deal. If you don't care about MS spying on you, then I say go for it.

It depends OP. Are you upgrading on a laptop? If so, it is absolutely not worth it. The constant upgrades destroy your battery life and everything in W10 just feels unfinished. For desktop, it's okay, but I would say wait it out a bit more to squash all the bugs. For me, explorer crashes constantly and everything in W10 just feels terribly coded.

Keyboard or touch? Windows 10 sucks without a keyboard and mouse. With 8 they went overboard with touch, now with 10 they've gone too far in the other direction. You can't even use the touch version of IE on 10. If you have a tablet and enjoy trying to hit tiny buttons with your finger, 10 is for you. For a desktop/laptop with a keyboard and pointing device, it's fine.

so i'm not the only selective cheapskate on /g/. I've spent more than $1800 on hardware in the last year yet im running a dazloaded win 7 for some reason

I had a tablet with full Windows 8 and I had a similar experience. Buttons were too small, scrolling didn't always work right, etc. I ended up getting rid of it because it was a hugely frustrating experience compared to an Android tablet.

MS is really pushing Edge hard though, and by default IE isn't even in the start menu. Does Edge really not work with touch?

I used to do it cause the activation process was so shit back then, I even had a legit key at some point, but had to keep calling microsoft to reset activations everytime I did a complete format of my main hard drive.

Now it's tied to my microsoft account so idgaf.

It's just another Windows 8, nothing more. Sure, they gave us something resembling the old start menu, but that's the only difference. It has the same illogical interface as Windows 8, the same shitty control panel, the same performance issues, the same unresponsive UI thanks to the metro shit they shove down your throat, even less backwards compatibility and the same overall design aesthetic that will make your eyes bleed.

If Windows 10 is really the last Windows OS, I'm switching to Linux when Windows 7 support ends.
