So, what does /g/ think about Kubuntu?
>>52507681
Garbage. Made me hate KDE.
>>52507681
Tried it for a day to look what Plasma 5 feels like. Nothing werks as it should and it's not the fastest OS. Back to debian+ xfce.

This.
KDE4 was GOAT, I expected something as good when I tried KDE5, but
>no screensavers
>crashes at the drop of a hat
>unconsistent lock screens
>fewer customization options
>long boot time, even longer than KDE4
I'll try the Kubuntu LTS, but if it still uses Plasma I'll switch to another *buntu distro or Debian+KDE4.
Badly maintained, compare to OpenSUSE. If you want to use stable Plasma 5, use OpenSUSE.

But is there a version of openSUSE that just works? Last time I used it it ran my GPU hot and media codec support was spotty at best.
>>52507715
KDE was always a bloated Windows wannabe wm
are even apps worth using from that pile of shiny garbage ?
>>52509170
pretty much any kde app beats it gnome counterpart
>>52509217
in slowness, size and resource consumption, maybe
>>52509217
>>52509263
btw, I wasn't comparing it just to Gnome stuff, I'm not using that package either but I use many apps from it
>>52509282
outside of a kde session?
yeah that will slow a kde app down
>>52509293
why would it? they're just QT programs
>>52507681
>always thought kubuntu was pretty ok
>try kubuntu 15.04 when it came out
>dat fucking system instability
>dat fucking misconfiguration of everything
>mfw
That shit seriously got me angry. That entire release should not have been released at all.
>>52509309
No, they're KDE programs.
They rely on several KDE services (phonon, kio stuff, akonadi, etc.) that need to be launched first when using it.
