Yes the raspberry pi is the Best home theather .
Install Openelec on it. Untar the Iso and dd it on sd card
You can control it with your smartphone
And enjoy .mkv in 1080p
>>
>>52504651
mabey roku
>>
>>52504428
it makes a horrible mess of 10bit encodes (which, incidentally, your tv and monitor can't display anyway). use ffmpeg on your pc or home server to recode then down to 8bit first.
install osmc on the pi and you're all set.
>>
>>52504428
not in full 1080p.

>>52504428
yes, but that is not a proper use for a streamlined piece of hardware meant to enable quick development of embedded technology for the betterment of mankind such as the RaspPI

you degenerate fucking weeaboo
>>
>>52504428
Would choose a bit more powerful sbc if I were you, SATA connection wouldnt hurt either if you wanna make it portable

banana pi, anc pcduino has SATA but Im not entirely sure which one has the more powerful graphics

>pic somewhat related
its my banana m1 during setup as torrent box
>>
This 10bit shit is a meme right?
...or I am having just >normal< animes because everything I watch runs perfectly fine on pi 1 B (not even b+)

...or just shit quality? I don't even see the difference.
>>
The nvidia Shill tv is the only arm I found capable of playing 10bit smoothly.

its 199$

otherwise you can get a NUC but those are over 300 bucks.
>>
>>52507109
this
>>
>>52510077
How? I have a Pi1 b too and every other anime I watch gets mangled when I play it.
>>
>>52510170
What about those chinese android movie players with hardware video decoding? They'rr like 30 bucks
>>
>>52510680
they don't.

not on 1080p with fast pacing like the Evangelion Rebuild movies.

they can do x265 tho, for when it will be mainstream. I'd say late 2016

Why did Sega, Microsoft, Valve and now Nvidia go with that ABXY instead of the classic ubiquitous Nintendo ABXY?

Everyone player Super Mario. Everyone player Tetris. Everyone played Zelda.
Everyone knows the A is to the right of the B, not the other way around.
>>
>>52510729
because the west reads left to right.

also nintendo is only big in USA outside japan, not so much in Europe.
>>
>>52510729
Nintendo can be jews as well with patents
>>
>>52510170
When dolphin starts to work properly on android that thing will be tempting
>>
>>52510761
But now we have 2 standards because SEGA decided they wanted to be different and it's a mess when playing certain games, specially now that even PC games use console HUDs for the buttons.

>>52510771
I don't think they patented that. They did patent the d-pad though.
>>
>>52510798
PC games explicitly use the Xbox controller prompts. It isn't confusing. People got over this 15 years ago when they realized that everyone else was going to be different from Nintendo
>>
>>52510820
>PC games explicitly use the Xbox controller prompts. It isn't confusing.
You think this is a good thing? Microsoft deprecated D-Input, a universal controller input, so that it could force down MS branded controllers down your throat.
Imagine if tomorrow MS started supporting officially only MS branded keyboards or mice. So neat.
>>
>>52510820
leave him, he's probably one of those obese manchildren that play nintendo 3ds on the underground
>>
>>52510862
I bet you're one of those normies who play candy crush on your smartphone on the underground.
>>
>>52510878
I stopped playing games other than minecraft in 2008 when I graduated.

I stopped playing minecraft in 2014.

I use the nvidia shill controller just as a remote for kodi and to emulate my playstation games like CTR if I have my sister over.

I couldn't care less about ABXY
>>
>>52510861
I said it as a completely neutral statement. It's pretty horrible that some games have console button prompts that have to be modded out

But considering the issue at hand, yes, it is a good thing that the prompts are at least always for Microsoft controllers being that you'll be playing it on a Microsoft os. It's easy to figure out what layout they're expecting you to have.
>>
>>52510914
Sad thing is (the few) games that get ported to Linux still show up the MS-only prompts. There is no universal controller support anymore.
>>
>>52510170
Fucking 10bit made my WDTV Live completely useless

I am an interviewer for highly skilled IT positions.

If I see a console or a pin on your bag telling me you still game, or you show yourself with a stupid zelda tshirt instead of a cotton shirt, you don't get the job.

end of story.

have fun with your digimons.
>>
>>52511010
>Autism
heh the ironing

>>52511016
That's fine, I'm a video game developer.
And I never said about showing up to an interview with a Zelda tshirt. That said, I would promptly quit your little corporation if any superior tried to prohibit some discrete video game clothing.
Have fun with your serious business.

Not very good, but it does play emulators fantastic, which is why you should own one. Everybody needs a retropie. Just stay away from PSX, N64 and NeoGeo they all run like shit on it

You're on the wrong website bud, 4cans mascot is literally a loli.

How long until we get an SoC which can play 1080p 10-bit video without choking?

4K playback would be nice too but if I cared about that I'd build an Intel N3150 system.
>>
>>52511450
>How long until we get an SoC which can play 1080p 10-bit video without choking?

we got it 6 months ago.

It plays 30 GBs 1080p 10bit videos at 30% cpu

see >>52510170

You could use your PC to transcode on the fly to rpi
>>
>>52511016
uuuuh though interviewer huh?

I would not show up on an interview with some extravagant clothing, but if you came up with any of that pretentious "no games" bullshit during the interview I would reject you on the spot and just leave your sorry ass there.
