I have 12 G. of ram total. System specs say I'm using up

But does that explain why its saying 11 gigs of ram are being used when every process is saying Im using less than 3 Gigs?

Isnt intended to be a 32 bit thread. My decent computer is having trouble playing games and opening files. The system says Im using 11 gigs or so of ram but all processes and programs, even free space only add up to a bit less than 2 gigs. Trying to find out whats making my computer run crappy.

32-bit OS is your problem. Can guarantee you that you'll be fine if you re-install a 64-bit OS, as 32-bit can only use 4GB maximum.

This. 32bit is limited to 4GB of RAM. Notice how in your second pic it says 1.71GB usable? It should be 4GB usable, but regardless, the system is only using 1.71GB of your 12 total. Reformat with 64 bit and problem solved.

It capped your memory usage at 4gb, when it says "1gb" avaliable, it means your system is using 3gb. Install 64bit.
