Since when?

> constantly assaulted by malware
> registry is prone to issues and unusable by humans
> fills your drive with cache files that can't be easily removed without 3rd party software
> uninstalling a program leaves behind files, empty folders, and registry settings
> Microsoft releases updates that break your system

When did /g/ forget all of this?

Admitting defeat that easily.
Linux can't compete when it comes to gaming.

Since people got used to Windows after using it for their whole lives. Did you not figure this out by now?

SteamOS is just Debian. It can't run Windows programs without serious hacky workarounds (aka WINE - WINdows Emulator).

Linux is a meme.

Program issue. This shit happens in GANOOs too.

lel, when I update my server it's 50/50 that the fucker will come up again without me being there to log in through serial and fix the fucking SSH server.

Never had malware on my own machine. Pays to not be retarded.

> registry is prone to issues and unusable by humans
Never had issues and the average user is never going to mess around with the registry.

> fills your drive with cache files that can't be easily removed without 3rd party software
Do you mean appdata or the page file? You can disable the page file and delete whatever the fuck you want in appdata. When has this ever caused an issue?

> uninstalling a program leaves behind files, empty folders, and registry settings
This happens in os x and Linux too, blame the developers that have shitty uninstallers / bad package management. I would say this is uncommon on any major applications I use on windows though.

> Microsoft releases updates that break your system
Only has ever happened once to me. I can say this has happened numerous times for me on various "stable" distros.

I'm not the OP but it's pretty clear you don't know what his question meant.

No, I don't think so. Unless you're talking about configs, which obviously shouldn't be deleted.

>>
>>52482916
Fine...Windows just werks...compared to Linux.

Are you fucking happy now?
>>
>>52486026
No. GNU/Linux is way easier to use. Better documentation, package management, more logging, more verbose errors so you can figure out any problems you're having, the entire OS never freezes, just a program that you can kill from a terminal, or a TTY if needed.
>>
>>52483209
I'd just like to interject for a moment:
what are you referring as WINE (WINdows Emulator) stands actually for WINE (Wine Is Not an Emulator). The name was changed long ago.

Keep it up anon.

>constantly assaulted by malware

>registry is prone to issues and unusable by humans
Which by normal usage, you may never need to really touch it at all. And if you need to do so, internet's full of tutorials.

>fills your drive with cache fils that can't be easily removed
Big enough SSDs are available for cheap already. Heck even flash drives. I find it difficult to believe you have issues with just plain cache files filling your hard drive, even on 32GB.

>uninstalling a program leaves behind files, empty folders and registry settings

Some specific programs do this. Most don't.

>Microsoft releases updates that break your system

That happens once in a blue, hairy moon, sir.
>>
>>52485314
>I burned my hand by using a lighter, why are you people buying those?
>What? You're saying it's my fault? How dare you sir. This lighter doesn't have an instruction manual.
>>
In my experience Linux brakes way more often cause of updates than Windows. It actually never happened with Windows. Registry isn't made to be usable by people and leftover shit in registry doesn't make a difference unless you believe in that CCleaner bs.
>>
The funny thing is you could write an epic of complaints about Windows without a single untruth and at the end of the day you'll still be using Linux out of stubbornness and ill be using Windows out of usefulness.
>>
>>52482916
the registry is plenty usable by humans, uninstalling a program leaves files in pretty much every operating system, hell, most of your complaints apply to mac OS X and arch linux for that matter. Why are you such a delusional faggot?

>>
>>52487587
>Linux never freezes
That is just bait.
I've had the damn thing freeze before, not Debian stable, but multiple times on X/Ubuntu. Couldn't open a terminal, couldn't open task manager, xkill wouldn't work. It was caused by a third party program, but the fact that I had to shut down my computer to end a frozen process is ridiculous. Windows has good old ctrl+alt+del and core dedication to ensure that it shows up to kill the process. Blue screen of death withstanding, but usually that's because I fucked with something I shouldn't have.
Another thing is the anti-proprietary software hangup. Debian stable can't even Youtube properly and hardware support is a pain in the ass. And the sound wouldn't work, probably because the card was proprietary or something, just like how I had to go online and download a driver for my wireless card in order for it to work.
If I knew of a Linux distro that could just do what Windows can do with ctrl+alt+del, could use Youtube and web-surf without major issue, and didn't give a crap about proprietary software I would be sold. But I don't.

>>52482916
> Microsoft releases updates that break your system
Unlike Linux which has such extensive QA validation done for every update

I will always buy Microsoft Windows™ because the future starts now™. Microsoft also pioneers innovative new technologies like DirectX™, Office™, and the highest quality operating system to ever grace computers.
When I boot up with a brand new computer running Microsoft Windows™ with the latest Z chipset powered by Intel™ and latest Nvidia™ graphics, I can enjoy the games the way they where meant to be played™. Microsoft™ also pioneers in the gaming field with its latest Xbox™ console to allow gamers to play on their big screens with family and friends.
Microsoft Windows™ is also very secure. It's the most secure operating system on the planet. It's harden against NSA probes, tested by highly trained and experienced programming engineers to have ever graced this planet. With such innovative security technologies like UAC, Defender, Security Essentials, BitLocker, and Windows™ Firewall you can ensure all your sensitive data is secured and you're safe on the internet. Microsoft™ most advanced, and dare say, the most advance web browser on the market, Edge™, has decoupled addon support, like flash, to ensure maximum user safety when browsing the web. You can ensure Microsoft™ keeps you safe from the NSA.
At this point in time there's really no reasons to consider Linux. I tried once. It caused my Nvidia™ graphics to overheat so much due to its poor quality, novice programmed, open source drivers that it exploded and nearly burnt down my house.
It's quite clear that OPs a Linux shill trying to convince you to settle on something less than the optimal experience with Windows™. Windows™ is the only real way to play games or do anything productive. We've seen that they offer incredible libraries for software developers like Visual Studio and Microsoft C++ Compiler. He is probably too poor to afford the Microsoft Windows™ experience and can not afford to play any games.
Don't be a poor gamer with bad security and no drivers. The Future Starts Now™ with Microsoft Windows™

WINE Is Not an Emulator. If you'd stop being potato and actually read, you'd know this.

Why are so many of you man children this retarded? I mean fuck, I'm a Windows admin and have been for longer than I can remember but even I can get Linux to do almost everything I need ( exception being powershell) and want (games and some other stuff under WINE).

You wonder why nobody takes Linux on the desktop seriously? Just look in the mirror...
