Why does most PC hardware look absolutely disgusting and childish?
Most motherboards, RAM, and graphics cards are either entirely edgy black or black with red accents.
Most cases are autistic-looking pieces of trash with "m-muh ADHD" LEDs.
The "Gaming is for children" meme.
You could say 4chan is for children then, seeing as how most people who post on 4chan lie about their age and are mostly 14-30 year olds as well.
Most hardware doesn't look disgusting and childish.
The one you're interested in is like that because that's the market you're part of.
If you check out server grade shit, or non gamer products they just look like normal mobos, green sticks of ram, no leds besides on/off and status led, normal black cases with some shit design here and there and that's it.
The whitebox market is dominated by gaymers and hipster "minimalists" who think good looks = apple (in a "good" or "bad" context depending on the party involved) and/or form and function are mutually exclusive.
Your only option if you want technology that performs well while actually looking like technology anymore is OEM hardware, really.
Fractal and other fridges are the polar extreme, boring, lifeless, and cheap looking. Especially with that garish brushed aluminum garbage shit, I can't wait for that fad to die.
>implying gamers aren't often plebs as well
black is a good colour. it's not super edgy, as long as there aren't like green highlights. the only thing on my desk that isn't black right now is my microphone, and that's because it would have been like $40 more for blackout. i'm not that rich.
i fucking hate GAYMER peripherals though, like my previous keyboard was backlit because i thought that was cool when i was 14 or whatever. immediately replaced when i got a job,
Sorry everything isn't dull and boring and creatively sterile just the way YOU fucking like it. Go back to the apple store buddy...it all looks the exact same there. Or Facebook... All those white and blue identical profiles, I'm sure it's your thing...
Just curious does that plain sterile stainless steel countertop at the health department do anything for ya?
>theyre some of the nicest most stylish and clean looking cases.
They're not stylish at all, because they have no style to speak of. They're a featureless box covered in cheap-looking fake brushed metal veneer with a "minimal" design aesthetic that, in the Define series for example, just ends up making them look like a confused subwoofer that wants to be a mini fridge.
Probably the only Fractal product you could make a decent argument for is the Arc series, but like many other cases it's also plagued with the shitty metal and I/O ports that look like a tacked-on afterthought, not to mention the branding.
Why are people not allowed to want something that looks as good as it performs inside and out?
Minimlism is a style, featureless looking cases are objectively superior to shoddy looking, angles everywhere, perforated all over cheap plastic with flashing lights. A shame you cant see that.
isheep and such man...people have been conditioned to think creativity and style are immature and that featureless brushed metal with no detail or individual features are a mark of sofistication.
Sterile products for sterile minds. Gotta blend in with the cool kids and all. Don't want to stand out.
stop buying gaming motherboards and the problem is solved
Here's an example... He even specifically mentions being featureless and bland as a selling point. He can't stand the thought of being unique or interesting. He MUST blend In. With the pack.
Creativity is a plague to him. Individualism is a disease for him. It's must be plain and sterile. HE must be plain and sterile!
No, they really aren't, they're as shitty, cheap and dull as the gaymer shit strawman you're attacking.
And hell, on an "objective" basis, minimalism is an utter cancer in computing (at least for those who use their computer for something more than a glorified internet appliance/gaming console), as it removes useful features, compromises design and expansion capabilities, and hides what features are left behind fragile, annoying doors. Not to mention most attempts are half-assed, ruining the minimal look with shit like fan meshes or mismatched low-quality sheet metal under the cheap plastic shell.
It has a lot going for it, too bad about all those shitty marketing buzzwords near the expansion slots however. Who are they even trying to cater to with that shit? The same people who think gigabit ethernet is an impressive feature in 2000+16?
>like my previous keyboard was backlit because i thought that was cool when i was 14 or whatever
Yeah, you shouldn't be able to see your keys in the dark, just git gud, everything else is for gaymen children amirite :^)
>he complains about childish looking hardware
You might be a closet homo.
Tell that to workstation vendors and their customers ordering 128GB+ configs at the high-end. Most real workstations offer eight or more slots and the single consumer socket alone sends it firmly into the entry-level arena. There's no such thing as "server territory", it's all in what you use it for.
Why did you even bother typing this post if you're not going to offer anything meaningful up for discussion? I thought I already explained that minimalists and their gamer manchildren opposites are both tasteless faggots, as with most things, the best option lies somewhere in the middle. Technology should look like technology.
I'm sorry I can't take retards seriously. There's enough diversity to fit any taste nowadays, you're just looking for reasons to complain. "MUHHH GAMER GEAR, BUT BUT I DON'T LIKE CLASSY STUFF EITHER, I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT I WNAT, MOMMMY!!!!"
>I don't like the two extremes of things
>State that the best options lie in compromise
>I hate everything and I'm just looking to complain because "b-bwahhhhh mommy he said minimalism was shit!!! i wanna feel "classy"!!!!!!!"
Yeah, I think I'm done here. Having a piece of shit featureless plastic box on your IKEA desk doesn't make you "classy", it makes you look like a hipster trying to find an easy way to look deep and interesting. Deal with it.
Then why don't you stop complaining about it yourself and bring something useful to the table instead of crying "haha you're CLOSET GAY XXXDDD" like a whining child?
That was my first post ITT, but nice try.
Learn to accept that people like things you don't like. If you don't like either of the aforementioned styles, then just get the fuck off of this board, because you're not going to see anything much different.
You fucking autistic complaining retard.
Trying to use my own words against me won't make you look any smarter or your shitty tirade any more valid, friendo.
It's you who seems to have the problem with acceptance, why do I have to like what you and only what you like again? And why did you come into a thread complaining about the current state of whitebox hardware design expecting a bunch of people to stroke your shitty opinion off about how perfect it is?
Accepting something does not mean you agree with it.
Also, calling people whining children after complaining about someone liking something you don't like means you are a hypocritical idiot.
>expecting a bunch of people to stroke your shitty opinion off
Yeah you're just pulling shit out of your ass now, because I haven't expected anything like that.
>your face when PCs will never look this good
I don't really think there is anything wrong with liking it actually, I think there's something wrong with people who like it lording it over as some end-all-be-all objectively superior alternative that makes them an absolute patrician when in reality the aesthetic has many shortcomings of its own and isn't particularly "classy" or good looking in itself.
Holy shit, what kind of idiot are you?
wow this level of autism is amazing. because its fun to make my pc mine and make it actually look cool rather than green mobos and boxy hdds. Angry jealous poorfag detected.
>dat cirno grabbing for the others icicle storage area
tfw the guy thats encouraging em to make a mikubox pc with green leds tells me this. I know who this anon is
