Not sure what private trackers are all about?
The mission of /ptg/ is to promote the highest possible standards of tracker service by providing members with opportunities for professional development, by recognizing technical competence through examinations and by advancing the interests of its members.
Check out the wiki and update it yourself if you want more instead of complaining like a fucking faggot. https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/Private_trackers

Remember the following:
>staff occasionally read these generals and have posted here before.
>staff may pretend to be normal users asking for invites and when you invite them, they ban you for inviting strangers
>people may report emails and other personal info posted here to staff to get you banned.
>most of the invite offers here are people trolling you with false hope - begging for invites is a waste of time and you should just interview
Have 5 PTP invites to give away. First come, first served. All you have to do it describe your very first sexual encounter that made you lose your virginity.
Sorry, no virgins.
>this meme that the private tracker threads that would pop up every month or since like 2007 are connected to /ptg/.
Yes alone. People can deal with just about everything else that goes along with it, but the blatant creepy shit they put directly in broadcasts is why it will remain a niche thing for some years to come.
yeah that was kind of typified by a thread on muT started by some anon as a joke review of WCD, with the OP being an almost carbon copy of a review of us on WCD
one guy in particular was completely shocked that nobody knew of WCD before, and needed to inform us that it had been around much longer, and was in fact, bigger than muT
he then flipped out at everyone when they found it funny that he didn't get the joke
OP would suggest that you don't because safety, but unless you're in shit-tier trackers that are anti-comfy it's no issue to. I like (answer to: >>52474383) discussing random things on irc/shoutbox, depending on the tracker. just don't be autistic and it won't be an issue. plus i've been invited to several trackers because of just befriending people (but politely declined because i want to /pure/ and recent events, especially on /mu/, taught me to fear meme-magic for its true powers).
I mentioned I was a part of some shitty no-name niche trackers, but focused the post on like how does someone manage to join db9. And yes I mentioned being a dnb jungle fan, which I am
Less than 24 hours and I got 3 offers. People are dying to use their invites on that site

Must not be living in Egypt
It'll be there loss if they cut off official recruitment long-term. Already people who are new to the game and are learning their trade are improving the quality of 'lesser' trackers, not to mention quality users who were inexplicably banned at the hands of cunt admins. Expect the likes of MTV to close the gap rapidly if things carry on as they are.
Egypt has a terrible reputation for sellers/cheaters/traders. If I remember correctly, around 60-70% of PTP members from Egypt have been banned for one of these offences. BTN probably decided that it's better to do without them entirely.
It's not a matter of 'survival'. The next couple of decades will see digital and communication technology progress rapidly, combine this with the clamour for liberalisation amongst young people and there probably won't be all that much need to hide data sharing habits in the future. Trackers are merely the best we have right now, and granted a fairly good solution, but certainly not the best by a long stretch, there's far too much bullshit that goes along with it and too much control in the hands of a few who abuse this and restrict access to people on moral grounds, not to mention safety and fairness.
Ideally we'll reach a point where one or a small group of people can manage a collection of data and charge a nominal fee to access for maintenance costs and such. This would be infinitely better than the trackers solution.
I don't need to dream, I'm happily on BTN already, but you're delusional if you think a large tracker can almost entirely close its doors and maintain such a degree of superiority over the alternatives. Trackers rely on a flow of users and when that flow stops you need to have a damn good current community, which I'm not convinced BTN does.
Is there an up-to-date pyramid of private trackers?
i tend to agree anon. future official recruitment for btn will be sparse as it's constantly more or less at its user limit and will be for the forseeable.
i'm also not aware of any immediate plans to increase the user limit. anyway, why should they? the site works fine as it is and btn is under no obligation to non-members.
so, yeah, with access to btn strictly limited, that can only have a positive effect on newer trackers in the tv niche.
You got that from...mmm. torrent-invites?
What and CG all books bib has are on libgen.
They don't recruit anymore.
Not that rapidly.
MTV was DDOSed by cabal, did you even knew?
The site works fine now, but see how long that lasts when the alternatives are not only able to compete in terms of quality, but also progress faster than them due to the constant flow of new users.
How good of an alternative is mtv to btn really? For some reason it also allows movies. The only 100% tv tracker i can think of is Freshon but their site looks really ugly and unorganized. It just seems like there's only one good tv tracker while there's a lot of good movie trackers.
>Not that rapidly.
Much faster than many here are even aware of. Most people here are veterans and are on BTN, happy to ignore every other site, which is fine for them, but all the more reason to assume they're clueless about where sites like MTV are actually going.
>MTV was DDOSed by cabal, did you even knew?
MTV has a lot of stuff that BTN has. If I wasn't already in BTN and I had MTV I wouldn't even bother aiming for BTN at all.
Freshon is pretty poor but it's easy to sign up to so if you've got nothing else you might as well just get it to start with.
make me fagit. i'm just trying to share phallic art.
seriously though, i'm agreeing with the other anon. prove it. there's been no downtime afaik, and i visit the website every other day, the irc most days, and the tracker pretty much 24/7, since my client is on.
INSIDE INFO YOU STUPID PIECE OF SHIT!!
Has anyone thought about making an extensive list of known cabal and associates? I know the wiki has some good info but I think it'd be a good idea to make a list of trackers that share 'global ban' information. Here's a list of ones that I'm certain of:
At last check a few significant ones that do NOT share global bans include:
>AB completely off.
AB might not be Cabal in the strict sense, but they're well respected enough(they are almost 7 years old afterall) and I'm almost positive they share ban lists
>caring about ban lists
>caring about cabal
You moderate IPT? You run a tracker? You sell, trade or cheat? If not then why do you care at all? This is why /pure/ is not a meme. The shit you fuckers worry about is ridiculous.
Just keep it real and get WD's.
If you decide to not keep it real it will just get frustrating/confusing/ and in the end it's just better to just keep it real.
Yeah, I've only downloaded one thing off there but I really really really want to grab Hannibal Season 3.
I'll wait till a get a seedbox next week then.
Anybody notice you can get upload cred from the tracker that releases their motw today?
I just read it. /pyramid/ is half over for me now I think.
I'm on AB - good ratio, alright buffer, downloaded all my anime's besides some Digimon.
what - don't even see myself downloading more than 20gb and filled a few requests already
above mentioned tracker just going to donate to get upload cred and download select movies for me an my gf movie nights.
thank you kind anons from /ptg/ for giving the tips/encouragement.
>Not everyone who is banned actually did something wrong.
Sure it haopens and it sucks for them, but don't act like people get banned for nothing regularly. There are very few people who have global cabal bans who don't deserve them.
Not trying to bait but just genuinely curious.
How does someone get banned via accident besides 'tree ban' ?
I remember one anon posting saying he guessed his account got hacked but what scenarios. Only one I can think of is 312c being moody bc that's the only thing anyone ever says about him - that he's unstable and creeper.
It's usually because of a HDD failure or seedbox fuck up, resulting in automatic bans from ratio fucking up or too many hnrs. If that happens tracker staff are more than welcome to help you.
Hacks are also possible but if you're stupid enough to use the same password and email on all your sites well.
>Hacks are also possible but if you're stupid enough to use the same password and email on all your sites well.
Animebytes allows you to use the Google authenticators two step verification API and make your account much more secure against this sort of thing.
I think you'd be surprised at what people are banned for and how many ridiculous bans there have been but I don't have evidence that I can share and I don't expect you'd believe me.
Linear doesn't reward top seeders enough and exponential rewards top seeders too much. Logarithmic is the only logical answer.
>I think you'd be surprised at what people are banned for and how many ridiculous bans there have been but I don't have evidence that I can share and I don't expect you'd believe me.
Not him, but while I think a lot of people who have suffered a global ban deserved it, others have also wrongly suffered from imperfect systems, inaccurate conclusions and incompetent staff.
I know of a user who got banned from PTP for having a trader in their invite tree. When this user pointed out that they received the invite from the PU forum on WCD and provided evidence of this it was ignored and they were labelled a trader and got a global ban. This all happened in the days when invites to cabal trackers were freely distributed on many PU forums across the private trackersphere. Everyone's favorite cuck had a deciding hand in this case. When it was pointed out that, on top of the evidence provided, it made absolutely no sense for someone in that situation to invite trade for an advantage anyway, the ignorance continued.
I used to think people were just crying and bullshitting when they said stuff like this but after I saw this case my position changed massively and I'm now of the opinion that cabal trackers have a policy of whimsically banning people merely to free up resources.
Sure, doesn't mean I'm gonna give the cunts a free pass just because they get it right a lot of the time.
I believe you. Early cabal staff were all idiots. Some of those idiots them still staff.
BTN is trying to free space. No question about that. I have some stories about Betrayed, but not the time to share.
It's interesting that they're choosing to limit their size and attempt to free up space rather than try to continue growing. They're only going to allow alternatives to grow and succeed, offering an easier and, in some cases, better alternative, attracting more quality users, which will see the balance shift over time. And all this in an attempt to maintain their air of sekrit club superiority which will be completely meaningless if they don't do something about it.
>offering an easier and, in some cases, better alternative, attracting more quality users, which will see the balance shift over time
It's been 7 years, still waiting on that balance shit tbqh.
Yes, it's good. Though I wish there was a tag for uncensored.
Azathoth/Spaghetti are beyond competent and actually do their best is my honest impression.
If you are into jav an good res you will enjoy it. I'm glad I ignored ptg an just joined IRC to see what was up and now I'm acquiring some good stuff.
Yeah, if an example of that would be mtv I don't think so because I am paranoid about receiving notices from mtv and doubt that anons on btn are paranoid/get notices. So my dick is still yearning for btn.
BTN hasn't been the best for all of those 7 years and has only been the standout in the category for maybe about half of that time.
BTN profited massively from the death and fall from grace of a few other TV trackers over the last few years which has enabled them to position themselves as the top dog with very little competition to spur them on. MTV appears to be making waves now however and it'll be interesting to see how things change in the next year or two.
Anon2 here. I'm on both anon and desu AHD is my goto since the 75% FL makes it almost ratioless. I only use PTP when I can't find something on AHD or it has a superior encode from HDB, which happens but is under 20% of the time.
It's pretty good, has most things you would ever care about, it's got the strength in quality, it only really needs the depth to match BTN now. If I were just getting into MTV now I'd still quietly work towards BTN (You can be there in 6-12 months depending on what trackers you're currently in and if you do a little bit of work towards upper user classes) but you're not missing much.
But BTN has operated the same for all those years for the most part. It had nothing to do with the others dying.
MTV does look good now, but nothing they've done so far can convince me they'll amass the size of BTN. I'm not convinced it'll be around in 5 years either.
It's not abusable. It does everything they want out of the yen system. It encourages you to seed irrelevant things for long periods of time.
The only problem with it is that if say, a newer user (using that Neferpitou person as an example) wanted to get to the top of the uploader charts, older users are more or less solidified in their position making 100gb+ of upload worth of yen per day, exponentially outscaling the newer user without actually having to upload a single byte. It's probably a shit example, but that's really the only problem with the system.
Stop shitting on /ptg/ or if you are trying to be funny just stop and go to /b/ - I guarantee you that anons there will most def find you funny.
I don't understand why you intentionally post images to make others hate you unless it's easier for someone to hate you because you are unnoticed most of the time.
>It had nothing to do with the others dying.
You can't ignore the impact of the influx of migrants. If there were still other quality TV trackers there'd be less quality users doing their work at BTN and less basis for BTN to assert such authority over the TV niche.
I'm not saying MTV is perfect, only time will tell what happens, we just have to wait and see.
>le xDDDDD im so funNY KEKKLES XDDdDdDD TOP KEKKLES FROM KEKS xDdDDDdD AiN'T I FUNNY yET GUYS/!?/1/1?/1/!?!?@??!@/??>#??$?#?#$?@?/34/2/4/3/?!?/1/!?!
We don't need more shitposters then there already are.
Someone should start a new thread for our boy boy Luis.
Meh, you have to actually be seeding the whole time though, an older account can't just start seeding a ton of shit and out perform a new user.
Rewarding years of seeding in that manner without totally breaking the system.
ABs formula seems like the best of any tracker i've been on.
