What the fuck is the point of 4k, I bought a 4k TV today and when I got home I realized literally none of my devices have the ability to output 4k.
If someone who goes on /g/ doesn't even have anything that can do 4k on hand why the fuck are people buying 4k stuff.
I left my nvidia shield tv which can do 4k at my during the week place I stay, but seriously who has 4k stuff?
I'll get a new vidya card tomorrow and maybe eat my words, but until then wtf 4k?
4k is supported on Netflix and Youtube.
Theres a huge quality difference not to mention the superior panel technology now.
Even if you don't watch 4K video all the time you can get then for pretty cheap now so if you want to buy a new TV you would be retarded not to get a 4K otherwise you will be buying a new one next year.
The only panels exclusive to 4k are the new 24bit color oled ones.
1. They're not available yes.
2. They're fucking expensive.
3. There may be 1080p panels made along with the 4k/5k ones.
The vast majority of 4k panels are trash. All 4k panels currently available are trash for games.
Could be wrong but I believe the most color accurate TVs are still the 1080p Sony XBR line. Till the new oleds come out of course.
This is a shitpost and you all should be ashamed for taking the bate
If it makes you feel any better I also haven't figured out how to transport it from here to the house I want it in.
I've got a mustang GT and I'm not sure that the panel will fit in the back seat. The box sure as fuck wont fit.
I use mine as a monitor. Works great for that. As a TV, yeah, there's not much in the way of 4K content, but merging a dual monitor setup and an old 720p tv into one 4K screen has simplified my apartment quite a bit.
Because it's sharper?
Because practically all new TVs are made in 4k?
Because all the new TV technology is focused into 4k displays because theres' no reason to bother with shitty 1080p anymore?
Because people don't like 50 ppi on their 40"+ tvs?
Because people like more screen real estate when used with computers?
So tell me OP, how poor are you?
I think you did good. 4K content is only just trickling out, but by the end of the year it's going to be a lot bigger. 4K Bluray is the biggest one and it'll be available within two months, and then you have various streaming services including Netflix.
Are you sure your TV doesn't have Netflix and YouTube apps built in, by the way?
>4K content is only just trickling out
Exactly why I'm staying away from it. I'm guessing prices will drop hard like they did with 1080p screens so why not just get it when its like half price and there's plenty of content?

my sides just bought a one way ticket to Pluto
4k gaming been here.
Most games (Outside Witcher 3) run fine @ 4k on high/ultra with 1 Fury/980 TI
Samsung likes to increase the resolution even when the TV cannot support it. All 4K and curved Samsung TVs have halved refresh rates/motion response below model number 7000. I just thought you would like to know why your TV has ghosting and motion blur whenever something moves fast on screen.
