Seagate Backup Plus Slim 1 TB Portable HDD Anyone have experience

Mine worked just fine for like, 7 months until it just randomly stopped working, slowed down, and makes whizzing and spinning noises.

probably a broken usb connector or board, seems like it's a common thing with lots of external HDDs

open it up, get the HDD out (usually a standard SATA drive) and connect it to your computer through another adapter or case

It would not be "beeping" or blinking any lights if there was a problem with the USB 3 cable. But trying another cable should not hurt. Even a USB 2 micro cable should work.

I don't want to open it in case I break it any further..

If it's not completely broken, then, well I mean, I've ran the SeaTools tests on it and it's failed a lot of the important diagnostics tests, saying it's pretty much broken... so I'm just gunna call on tuesday and see about getting it replaced. They have a recovery option so I should be able to hopefully get my files recovered

data recovery is, depending on the particular issue, very time consuming and therefore expensive
just sending a new blank drive is much cheaper
