See pic and choose one. Also, there are plenty of games on Linux http://store.steampowered.com/browse/linux Triple A games are still scarce, but it's growing slowly. For instance http://store.steampowered.com/app/268500/

Install Linux Mint or Ubuntu.

>games limited on Linux
They are extremely limited. When linuxfags say a game works they are not saying it is playable but the the game launches. It's the same with hardware, they will say its supported but it doesn't actually work well like in windows and sometimes it crashes for no reason.

Go to friendly linux thread.

but tldr, learn to use the command line because GUI is generally utter trash in comparison to windows, and dual boot to play games, it's not even worth trying

1 slight mistake on that chart.
Slackware and no package manager.

A lot of ditributions (like Fedora, Ubuntu, Mint, etc.) are going to be suggested in this thread.

Try them all out very easily on an emulator to see what you like best.

I personally think Fedora or Xubuntu is best for beginners.

Here is a tutorial on installing Linux on a virtual machine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JH29ALyraG4

Default Slackware has no package manager.

I recommend you don't install it.

Put it in a virtual machine if you want to play with it. If you find it compelling you'll find a way to make the switch. If you don't it's not worth the trouble.
