Why do people use Linux mint? What benefits does it offer over Ubuntu? No memes pls
>>
Cinnamon
>>
>>52451103
No amazon bullshit
>>
>>52451103
comes with a more complete/functional setup. Works out of the box better (e.g. printers)
>>
It looks nicer and the devs hate jews
>>
is mint more like windows?
>>
>>52451130
Can be installed on ubuntu

>>52451136
Can be disabled
>>
>>52451103
both are pleb-tier debian-based distros. if you want something which is like debian, just use debian.
>>
>>52451103
>anti jew
>cinnamon
>debian edition available
>new-to-linux friendly

hello jerry messing!
>>
It's easy to use. Don't see why there's so much autism about someone using a different distro to you.
>>
>>52451103
It has the best proprietary driver support i've come accross. Even the debian proprietary unofficial would not work with my motherboard. It's more of a "just werks" experience, it has all programs and codecs that you need OOTB.

>>52451301
>Can be installed on ubuntu
Cinnamon can be install on arch, gentoo and opensuse too, what's your point?
>>
>>52451945
>no memes pls
Can't you fucking read?
>>
>>52452099
That Cinnamon isn't a valid argument because it canbe used with any distro
>>
Now you've got me curious, why use any other *buntu besides Ubuntu if you can just swap out DEs?
>>
>>52452167
The Law of Equivalent Exchange, senpai. One meme for another.
>>
>>52452260
There isn't a reason
>>
>>52452260
This is the only *buntu worth downloading

No Amazon
No Unity

I think these are 2 biggest reasons.

That's why I'm installing at least.

Out of topic, is Rosa any good?
>>
>>52452439
they can both be disabled
>>
>>52452506
I know, I posted this from Ubuntu. I was just trying to answer OPs question. Nerds on /g/ make a big deal out of it. I disabled Amazon (hell it doesnt even exist in my country despite having one of the HQs here) and actually prefer unity over Cinnamon.

That's why I use Deepin 15, which is no longer based on Ubuntu but on Debian
>>
>>52451103
is mint better than opensuse?
>>
No amazon, best "out of the box" distro, plenty of ricing, all around good distro

im Deepin ur moms pussy
>>
>>52452244
Dude it is for casuals so it counts because casuals will say "ubuntu had unity and mint got cinnamon"
>>
>>52452699
Something doesn't smell right about Deepin.

Made in china
>>
>>52456692
Ah I see, it's not just that, but it seems from the website that they're trying really hard to court your usage of their "product". Why? I mean sure advertise your OS' features, but they seem a bit too eager, like they may be making money out of it all (possibly data collection?).
>>
>>52457019
its opensource, see for yourself
>>
>>52458221
I believe you, although I doubt anyone has bothered to audit the code.
>>
>>52451103
It's outdated and no longer serves a purpose: Prepackaged propietary codecs.

The only good thing about it is that one of the devs hates jews and they develop Cinnmamon, but even Cinnamon is better in other distros.

I want to learn about linux and I also want to know if games are limited on linux
>>
>>52460698
Yes. If you've got an Nvidia card and you don't fall for meme AAA flavor of the month games or you're not bothered by rebooting to play that particular meme game, you can game well on Linux.

It runs faster on old machines. Less glitchy too.
