A friend just gave me the 1TB version of pic related for my birthday. What should I do with it?

put it on your fucking computer you blithering retard.

Trash.

Enjoy your no writes after 3 years.
>>
>>52446121
Use it to store data. Enjoy your SSD, OP!

I'm jelly.

inside would be a better place for it tough

>3 years
The drive will be worth $50 in 3 years and a drive with 5x it's performance will be available for $200. Who the fuck cares if it fails to write at that point?

Anyway, 3 years lifespan is completely wrong. Check the anandtech tests and see how long 850 EVO actually lasts in a stress test. (Hint: it's more like 10 years).

I'll hijack this thread since it's retarded.

>>52446660
What this dude said. Can't argue with 2500/2100 MB/s read/write speeds.
>>
>>52446693
Meh. Only if your PC supports it. Sequential performance beyond 500MB/s isn't noticeable in most applications anyway.
>>
Send it to me
>>
>>52446729
i used one the other day with a 6700k. it blows my 840 evo out of the water. it is to sata ssd's what sata ssd's are to hdd's.
>>
>>52446405
Yes
>>
>>52446121

I would use it, but only for non-essential stuff.

SSDs is basically like longer-lasting ram. It's fast as fuck, but after you restart your computer, you have to re-cache all your programs again.

This is okay if you're a NEET with no life, but if you want to be productivity, stick with HDD as the primary.

You're an idiot. Go read some more John C. Dvorak articles on CNet.
>>
>>52446121
Install Gentoo on it.
>>
>>52446152
>Enjoy your no writes after 3 years.

This will only happen if you write data to it 24/7 at max speed for 3 years continuously.

Does the 950 run on a system with no M2 slot, if I use a PCIe 3.0 M2 riser? I'm still on Ivy Bridge.

And by run, I mean does it run at full speed that way and allow OS booting.

Is storing FLACs on a SSD really bad?

>>52447256
Well you don't need to worry about rotational velocidensity losses on SSD, if that's what you're referring to.

plugging in the sata and the power would be better than simply putting it on your computer

Samefagging, but seriously what the fuck is up with SSD prices. I can buy a bigger USB3.0 flash drive at MicroCenter (128GB) for $15 than most SSDs for $50 (64GB).
