>even the normies i know are pissed about this
has apple finally overstepped its bounds? will they finally be forced to admit they screwed up? are they finished without steve? tune in to this thread to find out!!!.
>things should stay the way they are forever!
normies should shut the fuck up
lightning headphones, not bluetooth. they already exist and are an improvement.
so every iFag will we using the shitty overpriced apple wireless headphones that probably won't even come with the iPhone 7, or using something like this, which Apple will probably start selling a clone of for 3x the price (inb4 shill):
>the joke turned out to be a god tier concept
who's laughing now minimalismfag
>literally same shit tier $0.10 earphones except with proprietary applel connectors so they can charge $50
>a more expensive, less durable connector is an improvement
>having the DAC in the headphones to increase the cost is an improvement
It's almost certainly going to come with a lightning to 3.5 adapter, if not a y-splitter. although I don't think that this is a great idea on apple's part, I don't think it should be as big of a deal as people are making it.
i kinda envy iphone users because they have PositiveGrid/BIAS, it looks amazing to just plug in, load some tone and jam without having to be in front of a pc/an amp. I'm considering buying an ipad solely for this.
I can't wait for the placebophile companies' tears.
>"here's our special dac for only 399, to get the most out of your headphones"
>"with this 499 amp, our headphones really shine"
>hey, here's a digital signal, now you have full control, build the heaphones right or fuck off
It's actually a pretty huge deal.
Apple reps won't give out forewarnigs to anyone that buys one of these. They wont say, "oh by the way you wont be able to use your $200 Beats headphones with this phone", the same ones they sell at their own fucking stores, mind you. Unless of course you buy a stupid adapter or buy a pair of headphones designed for the port, which you can't use on anything else.
Apple should be chastised for this shit.
These aren't even lightning headphones. It's a picture of the power cable and the normal headphones, I thought you guys were smarter than this. Apple has said that there will be a pass through for the power cable.
More Apple extortion: Pay a lot for proprietary headphones edition.
They're loosing to Android anyways, but they can still milk their fan boys and creatures of habit for a lot of cash.
And they're doing it.
>They're losing to android anyways
L M A O.
Apple holds 90 something percent of the profits. The only reason android has any hold at all is because of poorfag phones in third world countries.
You mean the relatively unpopular thing (has existed for a long time, never got very popular) that needs charging and breaks people's habits and still costs more anyways?
People are going to pay $50 or $100 to avoid BT.
> Apple holds 90 something percent of the profits.
That they have users dumb enough to pay them this is exactly why they lined up the next reason for them to pay more money.
No, Apple isn't dying, they're just milking a system that has a huge chance of becoming irrelevant soon due to it's very weak position in the market.
Yes, market share matters, the software exclusives are giving more and more of an advantage to Android.
>software exclusives giving more of an advantage to android
Regardless, I'm willing to pay for a phone that isn't a steaming pile of shit. Literally every android phone is flawed and not guaranteed to receive the latest version. Fragmented updates are a fucking mess, and honestly it's laughable how the 6s/6s+ can outperform 99% of android "flagships" with 2 cores and 2 gigs of ram.
All I'm saying is, placebophile companies tried to present the *integrated* player components (amp, dac) as shit, so they could sell their standalone solutions.
Now, with digital out and since all these components all built into the headphones, they can't sell additional standalone stuff. But they also can't just sum the costs and sell 900$ headphones.
They'll have to use something sensible and admit that their previous products were overpriced.
>Now, with digital out and since all these components all built into the headphones, they can't sell additional standalone stuff.
m8 you have no idea how wrong you are here. All that's going to happen is the argument shifts from "the phone's DAC is shit buy our stuff" to "the built-in DAC in those headphones is shit buy our stuff AND these other headphones".
And you know what? Unless given proof otherwise I would actually agree by default that a DAC built in to a pair of headphones is not going to be that good.
What seems to be the problem m8?
Digital out in such a popular device, means headphones with integrated amps and dacs.
And if your headphones are made for digital in and have their own dac and amp, you can't use a standalone one.
>Fragmented updates are a fucking mess
Centralized updates like Windows or IOS have them are the bigger mess, and one which you can't really avoid.
> it's laughable how the 6s/6s+ can outperform 99% of android "flagships" with 2 cores and 2 gigs of ram.
They can't. Oh, the two cores on the 6 series of Apple phones are pretty good, but they certainly aren't like the four to eight only marginally weaker cores on various Android devices overall.
Well, Apple needed 1-2 fast cores, IOS can't really handle four or eight or more yet anyways.
>Centralized updates like Windows or IOS have them are the bigger mess, and one which you can't really avoid.
It's clear that you don't like Apple or Microsoft. I'm sure you have plenty of real world experience with both to have based your clearly rational decision. Could you, however, explain what ever the fuck you were trying to point out using English and maybe the proper words? It would help us to better call you the faggot that you are.
>Centralized updates are a bigger mess
fucking how? at least you GET the updates.
Benchmarks always have android phones lagging behind in single core scores, which is arguably much more important, and easier to develop for. there's still apps for android which shove most of the work onto one core.
>fucking how? at least you GET the updates
Actually I always had multiple possible upgrade paths, one of which I pursued instead of the stock one when the stock one sucked.
I wished I could have done the same with IOS back when I still had it, glad to be rid of it.
Ditto for Windows 10, that shit will be a problem eventually, moving forward.
Ah yea, stock vendor updates on my older phone are being delivered after 3+ years, not that I still use that one. Cameras got better, so I switched.
> which is arguably much more important, and easier to develop for
That's just an IOS impression. Android is regularly busy doing stuff on even eight cores, no big problem.
Also is related to Android having real multitasking.
That IOS can't do this stuff yet is a severe drawback vs. how we generally make modern CPU / SoC / APU / ...
No, at the last minute they added a female to female Lightning converter into the Pencil box so that you could charge it with a cable.
But you need to buy an aftermarket male to female cable if you want to connect it to your iPad without plugging it directly into the jack.
>Yes, market share matters, the software exclusives are giving more and more of an advantage to Android.
I like how more people use Android, yet developers are still more likely to develop for iOS first
>DAC in headphones
Fuck I didn't think of that, what the fuck was applel thinking? That's literally forcing people to buy something like a Fiio E07k or something to get any kind of decent sound quality
>lighting to 3.5mm adapter
>digital to analog
When people realize that the adapter isn't going to be just a cable like most of them are they're going to flip their shit when they realize they won't be able to use their beets™ headphones.
What's better is that the DAC will obviously have to be before the conversion to analog, which means either in the Lightning connector on the headphones, at the joint on the headphones, or in the headset itself.
And if you have earphones with split wire then you will need two DACs if the DAC isn't in the connector, one for each earpiece, which brings in the possibility of having them perform differently.
and if you know anything about headphones you would know why integrated dacs and amps are a fucking terrible idea. it's only purpose is to jack up the price on fucking terrible shit in the style of beats and bose, so headphones which don't sound any better than $5 IEMs but cost $200+. I just keep using my regular old analog headphones which actually sound good thanks.
I guess the annoyance was more with all the products, like docks, built around that 30 pin connector that would no longer work without an adapter, which was huge and added more strain to the connectors.
Do you know what PISSES ME OFF, you subhuman turbo autist?
That faggots like you have to make a thread about apples EVERY LITTLE fart. No matter how unimportant that shit was, /g/ has to have at least 3-5 threads about apple, constantly.
Fuck you, it is JUST A PHONE, ffs! I have an android and i stopped caring for apple a long time ago, and the only place i get annoyed with their existence is here.
I hope people like you suffocate when they hear how well fucking aplel did agian with some pontless device.
That's because a better technology, the internet, existed and was rapidly improving. The last time I used a CD tray was when I was installing Oblivion from the disc. But what's going to replace headphones? Bluetooth? We've had bluetooth headphones for years and nobody uses them because standard headphones are superior. Apple is trying to predict a trend here, but I don't think they got it right. I'll eat my words if they did though, but if my friend's father is using the same headphones he bought ten years ago, I highly doubt Apple got this one right.
Take away the card/viewmaster/8-track/floppy shit, then get rid of the hand strap+stand and make the android switch less retarded and i would absolutely buy one, assuming it has a decent battery life and top-tier DAC.
It's very important you dumb fucking cunt, it's replacing a standard with a dumb bullshit which will increase the cost to EVERYONE (headphone manufacturers need to design 2 of everything, they're going to make it more expensive to compensate) all for retarded jew reasons that will end up getting reversed after the EU fine these dumb fucks heaps.
We'll still be left with a fractured, floundering headphone market and the possibility of other dumb shit phone manufacturers (ie, samsung) copying this shit.
>copying this shit.
I am perfectly clear about how much impact that shit could have. But have you considered for once that this will be a huge fail and sane people will abandon apple and samshit and other retarded companies for that kind of bs?
I said that bacause what happends in these threads is just the usual bitching and whining, since g consists to 90% of crybabies. But that shit won't stop apple from doing it.
All you do in this threads is make fun of apple to feel better about your own crippling virginity.
Just forget about that company and move on. Do like me and save only family members/ close friends from apple, no need to sperg averyday in 3 threads how much android is the best thing since bread.
Jesus fucking Christ, is that a man or a woman?
Either way, they're fucking yellow
>Apple will sell niggerbeats with lightning instead of 3.5mm
>1000 bucks each pair
>i still buy music on CDs
>i had to get my friend to rip my CDs on his 17" macbook pro because my ultrabook doesnt have an optical drive
But we don't need 17" monitors on laptops either, right?
>But we don't need 17" monitors on laptops either, right?
recently got a gaming laptop that i wish was smaller but the company only had lesser specs on the 15" versions. (not just ram and ssstorage but non-upgradeable stuff like the processor and graphics card)
I'm a bit mad to see the normal headphone jack gone and i would rather see another open source alternative that every manufacturer can make headphones for but the thing thats bothering me way more is this "MAKE IT THINNER!" meme. Literally everybody i know (iOS user or android user) are mad that phones get thinner and battery life gets shorter. You literally have to buy a fucking 6" phone which is thin as fuck to get 1 and a half day battery instead of going for a medium thick phone that holds for 2 days
Am I the only one who thinks that instead of actually using the lightning protocol they'll just send analog over the cable? Is really easy. Set a fixed resistance over the headphones' data lines, the iPhone recognises that it should send analog audio, audio signal comes in over VCC. They should've done this with USB-C but still, they get away with it and will sell millions of convertor cables.
>Literally every android phone is flawed and not guaranteed to receive the latest version
Meanwhile, with iPhones the latest version of the OS is guaranteed to cripple your performance.
did people actually fall for this? I can't tell
hey guys pic related is a real product I promise :)
Flagship smartphones are already 'fast enough' for the majority of users. Given how many people use their smartphones as a status symbol, it's almost logical that current designs are trending towards 'what looks really cool' or 'what will make a special snowflake' over basic usability.
The apple pencil charging port is the worst i've ever seen. Why did they not put it on the side of the pen so it would charge against the side of your device?
>they expect it to sell
Wacom drawing tablets have much better tracking.
the difference is that removing CDs simplified things for people and all this would do is clutter your desk with another fucking charging apparatus for some shit Bluetooth headphones that last two hours on a charge
I have a 15" laptop with "decent" specs.
But the Poles charged the Taiwanese way too much for the copper, so the jews they where just made the cooling smaller.
So for a fancy computer that could go well in Gaymen, is throttling.
No they won't, apple users see themselves as the elite, so they listen to music with their $400 memeheadphones. But what if they can't use their overpriced garbage headphones while charging their phone anymore? Aw shit, aw shit, what have you done tim cuck.
>I don't want to listen to HD audio on my phone!
Apple can get away with absolutely anything. People are still buying that MacBook like warm bread and the thing has a single port, which is way more unacceptable than this.
