Not sure what private trackers are all about?
The mission of /ptg/ is to promote the highest possible standards of tracker service by providing members with opportunities for professional development, by recognizing technical competence through examinations and by advancing the interests of its members.
Check out the wiki and update it yourself if you want more instead of complaining like a fucking faggot. https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/Private_trackers

Remember the following:
>staff occasionally read these generals and have posted here before.
>staff may pretend to be normal users asking for invites and when you invite them, they ban you for inviting strangers
>people may report emails and other personal info posted here to staff to get you banned.
>most of the invite offers here are people trolling you with false hope - begging for invites is a waste of time and you should just interview
reposting here because I think it's important
I had a realisation earlier today...
AHD was DDoSed, Bib went down, GGn went down, but not BTN, PTP or WCD.
So that's most of the top trackers except the 'perfect 3' (and HDBits).
Isn't it obvious what's going on here?
The 'perfect 3' trackers, along with HDBits, have started a tracker protection racket of sorts. The other top trackers, who refused to cough up, were DDoSed.
AHD later saw what was going on and (reluctantly, I assume) paid their dues. Bib and GGn, however, have not done so yet.
Does anyone else see this reasoning? It seems perfectly logical to me.
I'm not going to post my identity here, I don't want WCD, BTN and PTP to ban me for exposing them. :/
What can we, the users, do to fight this aggressive protection racket that is destroying out beloved trackers?
Now I'm not on AHD but
>Bib / GGn staff
Don't make me laugh
And how does 'everything' line up? They're getting attacked at the same time, so it must be the work of the covert WCD/PTP/BTN mafia? Wouldn't it be somewhat more likely if they were getting attacked by an anti-piracy group, a site that has been known to do that before (IPT) or any other less far-fetched reason? Is there any evidence of it you actually have to go on here?
>Is there any evidence of it you actually have to go on here
not really evidence, but meaningful speculation
> Wouldn't it be somewhat more likely if they were getting attacked by an anti-piracy group, a site that has been known to do that before (IPT) or any other less far-fetched reason?
The obvious targets for any kind of attack on a private tracker are WCD, PTP and BTN. This has happened in the past (IPT). Why is it suddenly now that all the smaller but still at the top of their league trackers are being hit with DDoS attacks, and not one of the perfect three is being hit with an attack on such a scale?
This is a good idea actually, I'm wondering how feasible it would be in the real world. Conducting a large scale (A)DDoS attack is difficult, especially when the targets have anti-DDoS measures in place.
>Then the site went down. And the tracker along with it. All in less than 24 hours
That's because the DDoS that was keeping them down before resumed, which is why they've started setting up cloudflare.
It seems you are the stupid one, my friend. You're making meaningless insults to someone on the internet without providing any facts or even speculation to back up your claims.
Please do this, or leave. We're trying to have a serious discussion here.
and you're listening to a guy who constructed a conspiratorial narrative involving the big trackers shaking down the smaller ones for money
that mean you're either malicious or stupid
>and not one of the perfect three is being hit with an attack on such a scale?
Are you forgetting the dozens of other trackers that aren't being attacked? Why does it strike you as odd that these sites in particular aren't downed? There are still bigger targets one could go after (most general trackers for example), and these sites already have the infrastructure that would make DDoSing them difficult anyway, without a large amount of resources.
Why do you not think any ex-staffer has ever came out about a 'protection racket' when they would have little/nothing to lose over it?
I repeat; is there any reason why this should not be true? The staff of the big trackers has changed a lot since they first launched; who's to say they're as benevolent now as they were initially?
my my, aren't you the edgy young man
The big general trackers are IPT and bB. I would not be surprised in the slightest if IPT were somewhat behind this. I also would not be surprised if bB was the next target... say, it was down recently, wasn't it? Did they give a reason for this downtime?
>Why do you not think any ex-staffer has ever came out about a 'protection racket' when they would have little/nothing to lose over it?
Read my initial post. This is clearly a recent occurrence. I don't think there have been any staff changes since the DDoSes started..?
>the staff at OT have the infrastructure to spin up multiple new trackers at different IPs whenever they want
OT has less than 1000 users and azacuck likes wasting his time on autistic bullshit and he's still not TC on any tracker, even AB kek.
80-100mbps if utilized correctly can be pretty devastating, SMNP attacks theoretically have a maximum amplifcation factor of 650.
80-100mbps sounds pretty insignificant but 52-65gbps is much more damaging to a network.
NTP amplification is around 400 to 1, so that could still be 32-40gbps theoretically.
It's not always about brute force, smart attacks are often more effective than just throwing more computers(and bandwidth) at the problem
My friends, what does all this violence bring us? We're all in this together. Can't we just get along?
>I would not be surprised in the slightest if IPT were somewhat behind this
Are you suggesting they have formed some kind of allegiance with the big 3 now?
I've nothing left to say at this point other than your idea merely being some pretty backwards and arbitrary speculation (and probably bait) based on the little you know of people who actually staff those sites, but like Russell's Teapot I can't actually 'prove' your theory isn't true. Perhaps you could ask about it in AHD/Bib/GGn's IRCs though and get yourself laughed out of there.
Can you fuck off?
invite recruitment threads are normally the lowest priority for tracker staff. a lot of them set a time, say every saturday or something like that, to check invite requests. stay cool mate.
First try. Queued up without studying thinking i'd study during the queue which everyone said took so long. Waited a grand total of 5 minutes in queue and passed within an hour.
What are your rutorrent settings senpai ? Trying to setup mine.
it's not hard to keep ratio on wcd. i mean, AB is effortless, but as long as you don't crazy downloading in your first couple weeks at what, the first freeleech will earn you more buffer than you can possibly use.
If I wanted to set up a tiny private tracker where would I host this? Are cloud servers like Vultr secure enough? It wouldn't get larger than maybe 100 people, just a more efficent way to share files (legal ones!) amongst a bunch of people. Dropbox etc jsut wasn't working well.
The what.cd invites forum may be the best there is but it's still disappointing.
>endless wait times
>dead threads, dead threads everywhere
Turns out private trackers are a never ending cuckfest.
waited about an hour, then someone came in, asked if any movement had happened, and singlehandedly took on the ~10 waiting people and started interviewing them all. passed dead easy.
I cheated
>gazellegames is dead
>never used my account at blackcats so it's rip
>so here I am posting the worst anime
I haven't checked the pastebins in months.
Just the yearly assessment on all the music of the previous year plus tracker specific news. 2015's one is coming up soon, hope you guys have been studying!
Ayy you guys. I mean do they require you to download X amount of things in the first week or something.
How difficult is it to maintain a decent ratio if I only want like 5 albums a year? No seedbox.
What.cd is the hardest tracker to seed on.
I've seen accounts with 2GB upload and 0.6 ratio and they've been there 5 years.
one FLAC is like 400MB so you could probably download 1 a year.
Do individual episodes get deleted off BTN?
Nope. What wants people to upload. To survive on what you must upload like >>52441430 said, or /pyramid/ hustle, but /pyramid/ is dead.
And before the seedboxfags or Mr. 2TiB shows up we had 2 sidewide FL last year that's hardly going to happen again.
> tfw can see peers but can't connect to them
> tfw tried with rTorrent and Deluge
You can download 20gb before required ratio
Also view requests and actually buy music from bandcamp that you actually really enjoy like I did and build more buffer.
If you don't want to spend some money I have no idea how you would build buffer on there though.
I have a larger vocabulary outside of kek, cuck, and autistic. Also if you are out there mcab or whoever does the optimisations.
I challenge you now. I'm just doing design work and will be lurking /ptg/ as I work sooooo maybe I will catch you and beat u <3
If you're on a reasonably fast home connection, it's not that difficult to maintain a good ratio. One thing I do is I look on wikipedia to see which major artist are releasing their albums that week, and I keep an eye out for when those show up on the site (usually 1 or 2 days before the official release). If you snatch them early, you'll get a lot of upload off of that.
>music from bandcamp
>all 128 tier garbage
And that's just the free shit, I know they do the same shit on the paid stuff.
What also seems to have a very dedicated number of requestfags who do nothing but make and fill requests. They'll get 100GB in upload and spend it all on requests the same day. They seem to keep a lot of that whole system going.
I've never checked the spectral and when you are filling a request for someone they will know you are uploading the FLAC from bandcamp.
I'm satisfying them - not you who checks free shit off bandcamp.
>listens to Swans once
Is anybody here actually on Sinderella? What's it like? Is it as amazing as we all imagine, or does Emp pretty much cover your porn needs?
Also, daily reminder that Bib is run by total and complete assclowns
Yes, and I'd guess it will be for a long, long time. Between the DDOS and the baffling freeleech completely ruining the economy for the rest of time, it would not be surprising if they didn't return at all from this.
It's been said before, but dear god how is their staff this incompetent?
>how is their staff this incompetent?
the latest word from SierraX on reddit: " The launch was hastily done, and the person who okayed it has been beaten with a wet noodle. We are regrouping in order to do it properly."
Bib really did work because it was like a library. What were they thinking. Freeleech tokens, maybe 20 or 30 for any sized torrents for the users would have been a way to reward people better. A sitewide freeleech for a tracker that can basically be entirely ripped in 2 hours? Insanity.
>A sitewide freeleech for a tracker that can basically be entirely ripped in 2 hours? Insanity.
the only thing i can think of is that after being down for a few weeks they might have thought that users deleted their seeding torrents and might want to re-download them.
but that doesn't excuse the freeleech. bib was working just fine as it was. i think everyone was just happy to see the site back up again.
>tfw late as fuck
>decide to go get some liquor
>live in the ghetto
>coming back home
>notice these 2 guys following me
>probably just being paranoid
>following me for 5 blocks now
>start speed walking
>they speed up
>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atB6x-qgYkQ starts playing
>OH SHIT NIGGER
>chase me for at least 15 blocks
>tfw eventually they catch me, beat me, and take my liquor
At least I'm alive right /ptg/?
>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atB6x-qgYkQ starts playing
>The tracker is accessible only over HTTPS.
>There is also a 30% nip bonus for torrents with 4 or more screenshots.
>you will make 10% fewer nips total for every hit & run on your account, all the way down to making no nips at 10 H&Rs.
OT confirmed best site
Because I want to see the images directly? For .zip I would need to have 2 of the same directories and waste space, one for torrenting and one for viewing.
For .cbr I would need an external program just to see it on PC. What if I need to see it on my TV through plex or whatever streaming program there is? It also looks unclean.
Oh yeah there is also the issue of files names, can't change those. The best format is 001.png,002.png,etc. Not file_001.png.
Also because autism.
>For .zip I would need to have 2 of the same directories and waste space, one for torrenting and one for viewing.
>For .cbr I would need an external program just to see it on PC.
Comic viewers can read zips, too. .cbr, .cbz etc. are just normal archives.
>What if I need to see it on my TV through plex or whatever
why the fuck would you want to access smut doujin through plex?
>Oh yeah there is also the issue of files names, can't change those. The best format is 001.png,002.png,etc. Not file_001.png.
Doesn't matter if they're a proper cbr/cbz/cb7. That's part of the file format, and a comic viewer will read them properly. They'll also display in order if you unarchive it.
>Also because autism.
Entirely because autism, apparently.
I prefer loose files too, but your reasons are all shit.
>According to the rules no it can't. Unless they changed it in the past few days. Go read it again.
He's right. I know because I wrote the rules. Rule 3.2.1.
>Note: Both loose uploads and archives may co-exist. They are not considered dupes (see below).
It's been that way for months, m8.
Guys, there's this pedo movie that is only on private trackers and we are making fun of the pedos on /tv/ by telling them we won't upload it to public trackers no matter how much they beg.
Check out the massive pedo butthurt.
The site looks a lot better, although to me Gazelle doesn't really work for games at all but BCG looks like fucking xXxD4RKN3SSXxX ass I won't even defend it.
GGn also has a better collection of board games and game guides and shit. Everything is FL for the first 6 hours of uploading on GGn too, which in my opinion leads to their biggest problem - shitty seeding.
It's easy as piss to game them. If you are in that initial FL swarm you take no ratio hit, and just have to seed it for 3 days to avoid hnr and you make the most buffer during that time anyway. That's it. For very new and very popular games, that's fine, people will seed those forever. For everything else, people will delete the torrent. I sure as hell do and the main reason is because games are massive.
Trying to download even a 1 year old game on GGn is like trying to grab shit off some australian with a 20kbps upload speed on a public tracker or the torrent is just dead. BCG does not have that problem, shit is always well seeded there.
>upload to KAT
>14,068 peers connect
>delete the torrent after 24 hrs
>re-upload to KAT
>rar some random porn flick that's 4GB
>password on RAR
>put fake password in the comments
>limit speed to 1kbp/s
>faggots bitch about how the password is wrong
>some faggot spends hours bruteforcing it
>it's interracial cuckold porn.mkv
>mfw some murrikan on a home connection is trying to dl stuff from me and i'm the only seeder
>mfw he gave up cause he can't peer for shit and is downloading as slow as a turtle
I don't even play games but it seems GGN is the place to be if it ever comes back online
I've stared at that photo for a good minute anon. Whoever has her is pretty fortunate and lucky.
apparently it's a tracker now too. Supposed to be supersekrit or something. They are recruiting on TPS right now.
>that dude who posted his Django project here once
Looks like we're leaving the Age of Gazelle, /ptg/
And less boilerplate/hardcoded bullshit and newer features awaits
>he doesn't use plex to fap comfortable in his big couch with a 60 in hdtv
right now i'm using my main computer as a plex server and 24/7 seeder
i dream of the day i can get a sweet rack with hundreds of terabytes of storage
I'm on Emp, but they made a secret board for invites for people with Great Perv status, but I don't know what kind of invites go out there.
Uploads don't count until they've been checked by staff. Unfortunately, checking can take a while. Just sit tight, if you meet all the requirements then all you need is for a staff member to check the torrent.
if you edge like crazy the week leading up to when you sleep with your gf you will produce a lot more cum
also pic related
also make sure you do your kegels
t. a person who wishes he had a gf with a cum obsession
I know it's a public tracker, but does anyone know how soulseek's queue works? I have been 122nd place for over an hour, I don't believe there are more than a hundred people downloading the same ambient drone album from the same guy at the same time.
Each person has a queue size. You can view this by opening someone's profile. The number of slots or whatever is however many people they allow to download at once.
If the slots allocated is like 0, nobody can download. Some people like to do this to show off.
Soulseek users can also throttle and ban users however they please. Choose people who have no one in their queue.
Why the fuck is What.CD seeding so shit?
I love the site so much, but I don't even want to let myself download anything like this.
I've snatched like 2 songs because I'm terrified of getting banned for my ratio.
Why can't they just say "hey, if you spend your entire fucking life seeding, you're off the hook?"
Instead, piracy has to be a fucking chore.
They want me to go to fucking garage sales like some socialite plebian and look for fucking weird-ass CDs on the off-chance there might be a request for it or something.
Fuck this. Every torrent on the site could be just as healthy if they only had an hours-seeded/torrents-seeded requirement and not a ratio requirement.
How do you guys even manage? Did you all get banned from What.CD in your first month?
Do you wake up early and spend every Saturday garage-sale hunting?
>$65/h job, 2 hours each week
>$130 per week
>you pay $520 to use What.CD per month
Is there a way to get notifications for free either on PC/mobile? Everything I'm seeing requires a pay scheme, like boxcar/notify my android/prowl. I just want to get notified asap for subscribed threads on PTs.
Stop crying and learn how to survive, fucking pleb. Read the guides, follow the recommendations anons give here. Buying stuff to fill requests is the most retarded way to survive there. Their system works great and it's not going to change. ;/\)
>he can't keep up on WCD
how fucking bad can you get?
>They want me to go to fucking garage sales like some socialite plebian and look for fucking weird-ass CDs on the off-chance there might be a request for it or something.
yeah man, HOW DARE THEY want you to contribute to the tracker? are you too stupid to understand that the harsh economy is the reason why there is so much content on What?
>he doesn't have a whole bookshelf full of CDs just waiting to be uploaded to WCD
>he doesn't go on rutracker and upload the rare shit to WCD
>he doesn't go to the library and rent CDs just to upload them to WCD
>he doesn't transcode FLAC files immediately after they're uploaded
>he doesn't even FILL REQUESTS
all of these things I have just said helped me to improve my ratio ALONE
