Is there a way to blacklist packages in Zypper/YAST?

For example, to prevent the utterly useless shit package K3B from being reinstalled during an update, how do I blacklist it after purging it in a cleansing light of purification?

Reposting.

int x, y;

cin >> x;

cin >> y;

if ((x % 2 != 0) && (y != 0))
{
x = x / y;
cout << "\nx / y is\n" << x << "\n";
}

So I declared x as an int, but I want to make it a double in my if statement. I don't want to use a new variable that is a double to accept x / y or (double)x / y or whatever. I want to use x. I just want to be able to do the division x / y without losing the digits to the right of the decimal.

Caught the tail end of the last thread, so I'm reposting. I'm planning on using old PC guts as a NAS. The motherboard has 2 sata connectors and I have a 2-port sata card. I can get an identical card, or I could get a completely different one with 4 sata ports. Can I "mix" PCI SATA controllers?

There is a website I cannot access with my apartment's internet. I've narrowed it down to either a router setting or some fuckery with my ISP that I can't even hope to understand because I'm able to access it with the same pc and browser from other connections. Problem is, I have no idea where to start looking.

Care to make any suggestions?

I THINK zypper can do it.
I know there are disgruntled users of YAST who switched to Zypper because YAST does NOT support update blacklisting. This implies that Zypper does.
I'll try and find specifics, but it's a place to start. There is hope for you.

So here's the deal. I bought a desk from Office Depot a couple years ago. It's an L shaped desk with two sturdy tops that sit on the frame and drawers and shit.

Well they got scratched up over the years and it was still under warranty so Office Depot mailed me two new tops for each part of the L. I'd almost like to use the longer of the tops to make a straight desk but would prefer to do it as cheap as possible since if it's expensive I may as well buy a desk yanno. Anyone have any experience rigging up a desk with a top already? File cabinets, buy legs, something else?

So I'm trying to call certain javascript functions in a website.

There's this website that enables you to put in a username and then click a button to check if it's available.

Looking at the websites scripts using the inspect resources thing, I can see that there are a few functions of interest.

http://pastebin.com/raw/msMnP3tH

Question is, how can I invoke these functions in the website's console? I was hoping to be able to call validateUsername("string"); and see an instant boolean result. But this is what happens:

validateUsername("lol");
Error: validateUsername is not defined

Is this possible, or are there ways as a Javascript developer to lock down your functions to just normal usage?

tl;dr trying to bypass a check username availability button on website, found the function, function says it's undefined in javascript console

For some reason

and

x = (double)x / (double)y;

don't produce the desired results.

neither does adding the line

x = (double)x;

before the division operation.

If you are running linux I know if you install calibre it comes with a few command line tools.
I don't think it can do it in recursion but I would imagine if you used something like:
 find -name "*.pdf" -exec ebook-convert {} *.djvu \;

I haven't used pdf2djv before but if it's command line just use the find command and the -exec flag making "{}" the file you found.

do
cout << (double)((double)x/(double)y))
or just
double res = (double)x / (double)y;
x is an integer and will always be an integer. you can't use x for that .. (at least not at your current level)

I don't think there is a way to give an int the values of a double due to fact that in lower level assembly, its declaring a value:
x SDWORD ?

so I don't think there is a way to convert it to:
x REAL4 ?

because x is already declaired in ram as an int so for example, memory space: 0x005F cannot be a SDWORD (int) and REAL (float) at the same time

Let's say I'm doing research on 9/11, and whether or not it was an inside job. I want a command-line utility that will refer to a text-file, and I can type various query searches on that text-file, and it will either find my query INSIDE that text-file, or if it can't then it will automatically do a google search for that query and save the first five or so results as text and place their contents into that text-file.

How can I collect logs on all http and https traffic on my network? How can I collect all keystrokes of all my devices?

I'd imagine that I would have to have an x86 network box as my router, and it would log everything to a database. I would also have to go to each one of my machine and install my own root certificate, and my router would have to preform some sort of man in the middle attack, swapping out the certificates.

As for the keystrokes, I know ubuntu has logkeys that I could install (and I guess just map the log to a network share) but I don't know of any good programs for windows. Should I just write my own?

I'm having issues installing ubuntu of all things

Running a fake RAID 0 setup on UEFI, and the installer fails to correctly setup the ESP. I've checked from an arch usb drive and I think it's using dmraid for some reason. I'm not able to mount the partitions and install a bootloader, they just show up as md126 under lsblk with nothing else. cgdisk shows the partition names though, but they're not in /dev/

Is it possible to do? Had no trouble with other OSes doing this.

Because it isn't purely functional, yet it isn't purely imperative
Because it isn't statically typed, yet it has type coercion
Because it isn't directly memory managed, yet it has potential memory leaks (in earlier IEs)
Because it isn't strictly object orientated, yet it has prototypical inheritance
Because it isn't platform dependent, yet not all platforms follow the spec
Because it isn't object-method declarative, yet is very reflexive
Because it isn't hard to program, yet is easy to make mistakes

Essentially it attempted to cherry pick the best of all things, and got a couple drawbacks with it. I personally think JavaScript is one of the best programming languages out there with its compromise between functional and imperative, its prototypical OOP, its type coercion, its easy of programming, and its depth of functionality

/g/ doesn't like it for those reasons.
Many won't leave C/C++ with its memory management and #define tricks, and will eventually be numbered among those who swear by basic, fortran, and languages of the past.
Many won't leave Java with its strict typing system and its relative easy with an IDE, and will eventually be numbered among those who maintain cgi/php.
Many won't leave purely functional languages with their scalability and no side effects, and I have no idea where they will end up.
They can't understand why someone after trying all these different languages would prefer JavaScript.

Protonmail is a recent good choice. Uses client side encryption. Essentially any mail server not located in USA/USA friendly governments.

Assuming the world is trying to kill you and you want to send delicous cp: Go to a computer not local, with no cameras, download tails, install it onto a flash drive, boot not-your computer with tails, Do nothing else (visit no other site) other than sign up for a throwaway email with email provider based in a a foriegn usa-enemy country, send your message encrypted with the recipient's PGP public key (if they have one), shutdown tails gracefully (wipes memory), never return to that place. Some things will be available, some won't.
If you're using linux for anything aside an internet machine, I'd recommend being slightly familiar with any command line. Helps when you need to google things.

For downloading shit, 99.9% of all formats you use should already be supported. .exe is an exception, with partial compatibility with utils like wine (which I wouldn't recommend install for various reasons).

Games are going to be a hit or miss. Check compatibility ahead of time. Games will run well with anything debian (And hence ubuntu) based. I'd avoid other distros due to library incompatibilities.

There's other pros and cons, but they balance out for the most part if you're not me. (Linux audio is a mess for example, but usable for most people).

could a computer ever be completely sealed and function correctly?

Imagine if you had a fan-less "passively cooled" computer with the coolest running cpu ever made and then you went a step further and underclocked that cpu so that it runs even cooler. Now you put all of the components in a completely airtight PC case, you even go as far as to caulk around the I/O and graphics card ports so you are sure it is entirely sealed.

What would happen inside of the computer? Would it get too hot because there's nowhere for the heat build up to escape? Maybe all of the heat would disperse into the material of the PC case itself. Like maybe if you used an aluminum case the metal itself would be warm to the touch.

Prebuilts will always have at least one absolutely shit component and attrocious assembly. You can pick the best value/money if you build it yourself.

>>
>>52442167

Prebuilt vs self-build with the same specs, the prebuilt is always more expensive

When you buy prebuilt you're also paying for a ton of shitty software that the manufacturer puts in the PC, plus a premium for brand name. Also prebuilts are usually shitty and unbalanced (like an overkill i7 with a shitty graphics card, shitty motherboard and not very reliable PSU)

Buying prebuilt is bad. If you're scared of fucking shit up when you build the computer, a lot of stores will build it for you for an extra 50 bucks or so. But the important thing is that you get to choose what components you want.

Budget? locked or unlocked? do you want it for intensive stuff or just a CPU that will never bottleneck your PC for some time?

I5-4460 is still a great budget CPU, I5-4590 is another good option and maybe the unlocked I5s will drop in price eventually so you get a cheap upgrade.
Those are the good points.

The bad points is that you cant upgrade to new CPUs because 1150 is pretty much done.
