Which one should I go for?
Some extra info: the 390 is around 40-50€ more expensive for a decent implementation and would require me to spend an extra 50-60€ for a better PSU. So, the 390 would cost ~450€ in total with a new PSU while the 970 would cost 350-365€ and I would reuse my current PSU.
Thoughts?
What psu do you have currently?
Reasons to consider 970:
>Obviously the cheaper option
>Won't get fucked over by nvidia optimized games
>Not AMD
Reasons to consider 390:
>8gb rather than 3.5gb
>Better card
>Good value for money
3 + 9 + 0 = 12
9 + 7 + 0 = 16
higher number must be better

390 will be better in the future because of VRAM, better for multi monitor, and honestly a nice card. Drivers are just hot memes desu, I didn't even realize there was a new driver in december and fallout 4 and other games ran well.

A Corsair Cx430 v2. 28 amps on a single 12v rail. Technically it would work with a 390 but it would be near its max output, while with the 970 it would see almost the same load like it sees with my 6850

I won't do anything more than 1080p for a long time. As long as my u2311h display works I'll keep it.

Don't get the single 8-pin 970 models with that psu, 38amps are needed overall. Make sure its 6+8pin power.

16 - 12 = 4
4 - 1 =3

Illuminati confirmed

I'd get something like a cx750m or something, it's cheap and will do the job, maybe even a 600

Be aware Nvidia LIES on their spec sheets - undercutting the power needs.
Get a new PSU either way, to be safe.

I've read multiple rewiews and compared power consumption, I don't go by manufacturer data
>>52420628
That would bump the total price quite a bit
>>52419728
I wouldn't run a 970 off that piece of trash either desu senpai.
>>5242135 The PSU is fine electrically. It produces its rated power even when hot and has good efficiency. Read john guru's review. I don't know why it's "a piece of trash".

don't buy nvidia, your video card will get worse and worse with every new driver.
>40-50€ more expensive for a decent implementation
What did you mean by this? If you're talking about a third party cooler then the cheapest one one the market, the powercolor model, is actually one of the best you can get, far better than the Asus and XFX cards.
Running a Core 2 Quad Q8300 @ 3ghz with a 7870, my CX430 is barely able to deliver. It's stable, just.

what, the 390 and 970 use the same power.
you don't need a new PSU
970 is a piece of shit if you're running new games over 1080p. It hits 3.5GB due to a shitty architecture flaw and completely shits out from there, dropping frame rate like a mother fucker.
Get a 980 instead and don't look back.
