I do very little social networking. The crummy FB app is enough for me. I don't use many other apps either, and what else I need is easily accessed via the browser. It's fine for me, but not for someone that uses their phone for everything.

I love the interface enough to enjoy using mine over Android or iOS, also my 640 only cost me $50 and it genuinely feels like a $300 phone.

I had a 920 and I fucking despised it.

That was mostly because a large majority of 920s seem to suffer from horrible battery life and ridiculous overheating. Dust under the camera.

The other 30% was WP. You just kept waiting for them to get their shit together. Or for apps to support it. Or apps that were already on the platform to have full feature support.

Fuck that shit. I'm using an Android phone now and I think next time I'm just going to a goddamn iPhone. I hope they figure out iPhone 5 was the last attractive design.

I used to have a Lumia 520. Loved the battery life, fast charging, minimalist UI and how well Here Maps worked. I switched to Android only because I use Strava and there's not a WP version.

I have a Lumia 1520.
Hardware is brilliant (I bought the phone sight unseen and was initially uncomfortable withe the size but have since got used to it).

The lack of apps sucks. I do not use a great deal but some I consider important and used a lot on my Nexus 4 are not available:

Silent Timer
Gumtree app for South Africa
GMail
Google Keep

I will probably end up reserving the Lumia for use as a GPS (Here maps is brilliant) and get a Nexus 6P for use as phone.

I got a Lumia 1020 soon after it was released. Worst purchase I ever made, but to cut it some slack, the phone was faulty.

Battery life was horrendous and inconsistent. It'd last 4h on standby, around 6h on light use, 2h on moderate use. I called Nokia, and sent them the phone. They reinstalled WP7, which I tried before, and said it was fixed.

Apart from Nokia support fucking me over, my experience with the phone was still poor. Windows Phone was pretty smooth and all, but there was no first-party YouTube app. WhatsApp looked weird. I didn't use Telegram at the time. Ricing it was pretty much impossible the way I wanted.

Only reason I still use it is:

the browser is actually very powerful for custom websites we use at my work but id rather lug around a surface tablet than be stuck with that shitty shitty phone experience.

I have been mostly happy but after starting to use the Windows 10 Beta apps crash randomly.

The only app I am missing is Amazon Music, because I buy my music there. In about a week though that will be a moot point because I am upgrading my home internet and I will be able to stream from my Synology NAS.

upgrade to Xperia S with pretty much every spec doubled - quite good but appstore is full of crap and laggy as fuck after a year

now i wanted to get a lumia 640 for the bigass battery but i tried it out in a store and im kinda disappointed. The animations take up a lot of time and the system apps arent as good as i remember (QR scanner and text translation integrated into the camera app)

I switched to windows phone a week ago. So far so good. Application support might be problem for some users but for me its not. Most of the apps I use are in the store. Mobile pages solve the app problem to be honest. Youtube for example I just use the mobile page no difference. Besides I can lock the screen while listening to music in youtube which i think is awesome. Customizing your tiles is also nice. You can do lots of cool stuff with them. Still Android is the best when it comes to customizing but Windows Phone is also nice. Switching from Google's ecosytem to Microsoft's was also a little bit different but you get used to it. You can add gmail account and it automatically syncs your calendar contacts and mails. For Keep or Google Drive on the other hand you need to switch to one note and one drive. Cortana is like god-tier. Overall I enjoy my windows phone.

I am going to buy a 520 because Im going on a cycling tour and will need dat GPS and free maps, look for places to sleep, check traffic news and weather forecast, take notes, shoot some vids or take a few pics. Also if I lose it I wont cry that much.

I am 26, use dumbphone to this day, never had a smartphone. My GF and dad have WP and they are unbeatable in low price brackets. Cheap androids would never be so smooth.
