What will be better for a render farm, dual W3520s, or a single i7 3770k?
I can get the W3520s for $20, but the EEC memory and PSU will making the rest a little costly.
3770K comes on a platform that has much more support in the community.
>download 3DM torrent of a game
>notice chinese blank file in my recent quick list on Windows 10
>Can't delete or see on desktop. Only hide it from the quick list.
WTF is this?
Is there a way to blacklist packages in Zypper/PackageKit?
For example, to prevent the utterly useless shit package K3B from being reinstalled during an update, how do I blacklist it after purging it in a cleansing light of purification?
Need a sub-$200 Windows laptop, what do y'all recommend?
Looking for something light and with a non-Atom processor. I'd get a Chromebook if I could but ChromeOS has fuck all in the way of IDEs
I'm upgrading to a 144Hz monitor soon, I have a 980 Ti that I'm installing tomorrow and was wondering do I need any cables to get 144Hz?
Does the monitor come with the cable, and what is the actual name of the cable, Mini Display or something, is it?
Finally which is the best of all those cables, i.e HDMI, HDMI-I, DVI, DVI-D, VGA etc.
Poor, technology deprived anon here.
Just got a budget laptop and decided to see what sites people are using to obtain free software. I keep getting referred to Mega.
I've tried downloading After Effects 3 times from Mega, each time greeted by (not responding) at around 82%-90% of download completion. Although I am on a Lenova G50 my internet is solid and I have downloaded bigger files with ease. Is the file corrupted? Im downloading the 64bit and am on win10
Is there a good place to pirate school books like this?
Don't use irony with me. I get that shit at work. You know fair and well that the book market is niche when it comes to torrents. Dig deep and pray or suck up and buy it
Books are hard to find as torrents. Myriad Mathematical Library is a bitch to get a hold of now. I have it backed up on three devices so that I don't have to go digging for it ever again.
Just got Comcast but didn't pay for second box, can I get a HDMI switch/splitter and be able to switch the signal from the cable box to either my living room TV or TV on desk? If so what should I get?
Then how does those sources figure out the hardware stuff? How would a similar program in Linux figure it out?
This speccy thing figured out the bandwidth sharing configuration of my laptop's proprietary motherboard's PCI busses. I'm guessing it's somehow probing the hardware itself using some sort of protocol to ask the hardware what it's all about
Now that's aome heavy wizardry I want to know about
How does the kernel do it
If I were the kernel and I could ask the hardware for some info using some ioctl calls, I'd conjure up a bunch of struct <device-type>_descriptor, fill them and pass it over to userspace
Do Windows/Linux do that? What sort of protocol does the hardware use to allow introspection of that sort
Actually, on starting transmission it looks like the original seed is still active.
Cheers. Seeding now.
Shitty hours (12/week at best), horrible expectations as what they expect you to do, (ie some people get forced to work 9hr cash shifts or they get 'let go'. Which is legal because they're always on 90 day probation)
And god the customers are the worst. People think they're entitled to whatever they want, whenever they want. I've never been so disappointed in my community. Customers rip off Walmart more than Walmart rips off local businesses
Both do it. It's a little to in depth to explain. Just read somebodys blog
how the fuck am I suppose to pirate windows 7 or even 10. i don't want a trial, and I don't want to have to enter a product key.
Any iso I install will force me to enter a product key, right. I've found ways to edit the iso so it doesn't make you enter it, but will it recognize your system as stolen and fuck up your shit?
>People think they're entitled to whatever they want, whenever they want.
What specifically? As deli slicer I get pretty irritable with fuckers wanting their meat "shaved" or asking me to set the slicer to "medium" when it the dial uses numbers rather than adjectives and each slicer is a special snowflake so there's no point in educating the consumer as to what number he would like best since that only helps if you're on THAT SPECIFIC slicer.
>Any iso I install will force me to enter a product key
Where did you got your ISO? you dont need with the usual one.
Just once you installed it and are in trial mode you run dazloader.
Mydigitallife is the place where you get it.
I have a siragon sp-7000 cellphone, i have quite knowledge about electrónic stuff and can repair my computer by myself but i know nothing about cellphone, sometimes it heats up to 48° when i play some games or even using whatsapp, it gets really hot to the point that i can feel the heat through the screen, it worries me because as i know it can shorten the battery life and im starting to have problems with it, i want to know if it should worry me or not or if there is something that i can do. Plus sometimes when i charge my cellphone it charges really fast (10 minutes so wtf, there must be a problem with the battery already) and when it reach 40-20% of charge it shuts down. Does anyone know what to do?
Sorry for my english, im still learning.
I hope you don't take offence to this, but it makes me happy to know somebody else shares my pain.
Related to prices. Walmart has so many skus that maintaining the whole store is near impossible. One person picks up a Tassimo machine, puts it down in the spot for coffee filters that is labeled $5. Another customer comes two minutes later, takes to to the cash, and demands it for $5. When they don't get it they through a huge fucking spaz like a 5 year old.
Also another thing we don't have an interactive inventory system where you can lookup items. It's all remote with Walmart HQ (even delivery trucks). Customers come in and demand we lookup stock for a specific item, and when I say I cannot then they swear at you like (you think I'm stupid you fucking kid? Get me your manager. I'm putting in a report against you)
I can rant all day.
So I bought a key for office 2016 today at my campus tech store and few hours later I bought a samsung pro 850 1tb. Installed and activated office 2016 prior to purchasing the pro 850. Is there any way to deactivate the office 2016 key or do I have to call mircosoft tomorrow to get a new key?
I want to do a fresh install since the current HDD is like 6 years old. Would also format the old HDD and use it as a spare drive.
Would copying C:>Program Files (x86)>Mircosoft Office work?
Battery is not removable, dude i already know most of the answers i can get, i do not post usually, i do it this time because im looking for a permant solution, also, i would be glad to know my typing flaws.
>When they don't get it they through a huge fucking spaz like a 5 year old.
>you think I'm stupid you fucking kid? Get me your manager. I'm putting in a report against you
What's the problem with these people?
Building my desktop computer. I've never given this any thought until now but is there any difference, even if minor, between bought OS's and downloaded ones? I mean in terms of overall behavior and performance. I mean Windows, ofc. I haven't decided which one to get yet, I'm thinking Windows 7 but then again perhaps Windows 10. Btw I mean to use it mainly for games, any recommendation on which OS works better with games these days is appreciated.
I'll never know. Thanks for not telling me to suck it up and stop whining. It's nice when someone listens to you
Why is Firefox doing this? Windows updated and now I can't toggle this.
I've installed avg PC tuneup, i want to deactivate some programs.
Intel(R) Management Engine Components and Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth Suite (64) are using a lot of my processor, is it safe to deactivate these programs?
Just get windows 7, easier to get and haves no compatibility problems with older games or games that need to change the locale(weeb games dont work on windows 10).
Windows 10 is irrelevant for now for games.
They're identical, anon. What you should do to save money is build your rig, download a Windows 7 .iso, install that, then use KMSpico to activate it, then upgrade to Windows 10. Legitimate version of Windows for no cost at all.
Google what they do and get back to me
>This program provides the Intel Management Engine Components Driver for supported notebooks with supported operating systems.
>The Intel management Components monitor the installed Intel hardware, such as chip sets, storage, and other components. They will notify you if there are problems, updated drivers, and other information about those components.
I have adventured in both Nintendo DS hacking and PSP custom firmware and homebrew and I can tell you that I had much more fun learning about and programming the NDS than the PSP even though I spent much more time on the latter.
I fucking love the NDS.
Why would you need applocale? Just put the system locale in Japanese and never have to worry about a thing. The only mild annoyance is that \ appears as ¥ in the command prompt and a few other places.
>Intel(R) Management Engine Components and Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth Suite (64) are using a lot of my processor
What kind of processor you have? a celeron running @1GHz?
disable intel management, leave bluetooth.
To be honest I have no idea. I bought a Nexus 7 in 2013 and I assumed I'd use it for shit like notes. Parents bought me a surface pro 2 a little bit after and I shelved it after barely using it for a few weeks. Something happened and it committed suicide. Now it's just sitting in the original box.
How often does Intel change sockets? Not sure if I should nab a Skylake i3 with a Z170 and fast RAM so I can have the benefit of fast RAM when I upgrade, or go with a cheap mobo/RAM and an i5. Or just get a Haswell mobo and an i5 4690k. I'm really torn
I feel like I would be more inclined to use it if it came with a stylus or something. But it didnt. It's just some awkward middle ground between my phone and my laptop, but it doesn't do anything better than either of them.
so is there any actual point to installing windows updates?
"Security" updates are something but not important.
You can use stock windows 7 and you wont have a problem meanwhile you use common sense to protect yourself.
Its recommendable to dont update this days.
On T-Mobile I can roam on data when I'm on a phone that isn't my Motorola G. As soon as I switch my moto g won't let me use roaming data even with the option selected.
Anyone got any ideas?
Anyone know why my BenQ XL2430T will come up totally fuzzy and pixelated maybe 1 out of every 50 times I turn it on after being turned off?
All I have to do is restart my computer to fix it but its pretty annoying. I'll upload a pic later.
Turning it back off and on doesnt work, I have to restart my whole computer
personal favorite pass keeping app right here
my wife loves it
I know all my passwords that are important, and use them the right way?
Why would you want a database of all your passwords? when you allow a single point of failure to your database.
Its always been retarded.
Try to solve my problem /g/
I often watch movies that I download on my phone on my TV by screen mirroring, whole I lie back in my bed. Now the problem is, when I screen mirror, the audio gets routed to my TVs speakers. I want the audio to come through the phone's audio jack, is there perhaps an application to do it or something?
Is there any OS/Software package for the Raspberry Pi that would allow me to watch Netflix/Amazon/HBOGo/Hulu on it? Most of what I've seen in terms of entertainment packages are for offline content (understandably, since all the services I named have DRM and most Pi OS's are based on Linux). This really doesn't work for me. The TV I want to use it on wouldn't really be for shit I've downloaded.
>Why would you want a database of all your passwords?
Because then you can easily use huge, unique, random symbol passwords for every single website. Enables absurdly strong passwords. Makes you immune to truly dangerous phishing attacks by offloading the credentials entry task to the browser. Localizes the damage in case the website itself is breached and limits the amount of work you have to do to secure everything.
>when you allow a single point of failure to your database.
Buy a security token such as a Yubikey or some smart card. Generate PGP keys in it and use them to encrypt the database.
Because the portable version probably doesn't store its configuration in the windows registry, making it 900% less of a pain to work with.
What will upgrading to Windows 8/8.1 mess up? Anything thats compatible with 7 that doesnt work with 8/8.1?
Also I heard Classic Shell
Depends on the monitor, should say so in the packaging or item description, just google your monitor product id or something
I dont even know what uses Mini Displayport, I think thats some apple jank
Displayport: 144hz with audio
DVI-D: 144hz with no audio
HDMI: 60hz with audio
The rest: shit + no audio
>Because the portable version probably doesn't store its configuration in the windows registry, making it 900% less of a pain to work with.
when would this become a pain? Genuinely interested.
>Also I heard Classic Shell
Fixes the tablet shit*
I have 8 on my work computer and I sperg every time I press the start key or have to use the shitty new control panel, super gay and confusing and you cant window it
Because I can edit a line in a text file much faster and easier than I can open up regedit, browse through a bunch of shitty trees only to find a bunch of options riddled with the hilarious Win32 API typedefs.
>Because I can edit a line in a text file much faster and easier than I can open up regedit, browse through a bunch of shitty trees only to find a bunch of options riddled with the hilarious Win32 API typedefs.
why would you need to do that?
I switched to Time Warner from Verizon Fios recently. Now whenever I torrent or even just seed files using qBitTorrent all other devices in my house are completely unable to use the internet, even when hard-wired into the router/modem.
I was thinking they have some way to automatically throttle your service whenever they see larger than normal amount of packet-sharing going on but qBitTorrent itself works fine; It's just that everything ELSE gets fucked.
What am I missing here?
Not all software have configuration panels.
Amazingly as it may seem, I've been forced to use some stupid ass software whose programmers actually decided an options panel was too complicated for lusers. Thus started the hunt for settings, which eventually led me to the fucking registry and its opaque magic numbers and its cringe-worthy M$LWSTRPZTCHAR bullshit. You want to persist some data on your program and you choose anything other than JSON -- you're doing it wrong.
I can think of an even better way to do configuration. Why reinvent a bunch of trees in some stupid opaque binary database with a bunch of access system calls just for show ("the registry") when you can literally just use the file system for this exact purpose? If your program is named x and you want to set option y.z, write it to a file located at ~/.config/x/y/z. Reading it back is just reading the file.
My cursor is extremely irregular in its sensitivity and I literally can't surf the web or use my desktop without overshooting or missing most of my clicks. When I pull it straight down for example; it sort of shuffles from side to side in a zigzag motion. It's almost unnoticeable but when you get close and do it slow it looks really suspicious. I also feel a difference in distance traveled from side-side and up-down.
It's only like this with my newly purchased mouse and not with any of my other, older ones.
Someone told me it actually might be my cloth Steelseries QcK mousepad that causes issues for the laser sensor of my new mouse but I have other laser sensors which work perfectly fine with it. Yet I feel like he might be correct when I test it on a large book. And it's not my drivers.
Should I just give up on this mouse and get something else instead? It's a Func MS3-R2 and I got it a year ago but never used it. Can't return it unfortunately.
I'm trying to make a video out of a single image using ffmpeg but for some reason it's not working.
I'm usingffmpeg -loop 1 -i image.png -c:v libx264 -t 15 -pix_fmt yuv420p \
-vf scale=320:240 out.mp4
(taken from here as an experiment: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/25891342/ffmpeg-creating-video-from-single-image-for-specific-duration)
It keeps giving me this error: [NULL @ 000000000054b4c0] Unable to find a suitable output format for '/'
/: Invalid argument
Is this a Linux only command? How can I get this to work? I'm using Windows 7 with a newer version of ffmpeg.
Phones may be locked so that arbitrary SIM cards won't work. If you buy from the manufacturer, it's unlikely to be in such a sorry state.
Put it into download mode and flash whatever you want into it using whatever tools are recommended on XDA-developers. For example, I can use ODIN to flash shit to my Note 3.
For this phone I didn't even have to do that in order to root and install aftermarket recovery. I just downloaded a use-once exploit APK. I don't even remember the name of the shit
Oops, the error should be: [NULL @ 000000000054b4c0] Unable to find a suitable output format for '\'
/: Invalid argument
I was experimenting with forward and backslashes and forgot to change it back for the post.
Have you checked if there are any firmware updates for it? Also, have you tried using it on other surfaces?
If neither of those options has any effect, it sounds like a hardware problem. If that's the case you're SOL.
Yes, same issue with other computers as well and I've tried updating/reinstalling drivers for likely two hours wondering if it might be older drivers or my tablet drivers interfering.
It's _actually_ a tad better on other surfaces so I guess the mousepad might be part of the problem which is something I've never heard of before. Anyway, just thought I'd check if /g/ had any other ideas.
Hopefully I can get some help here, so I just bought GTAV on Steam but I've run into a little problem. My PS4 controller isn't working with it. I have DS4windows running, but it's just not working for me. I installed Xbox 360 Controller Emulator for it, and that sorta fixed it, except not at all. For some reason, buttons are assigned wrong, example: Circle = X, X = B and Square = A. Any clues as to why this is happening? Would really appreciate some help. Thanks.
im looking to get into robotics but having trouble deciding on where i want to end up or what is required to get to specific fields (meaning courses or subjects to study). do most people have some general idea or is this something you learn as you go?
I'm going to set up an extra box as a seedbox. Should I use Deluge or rtorrent, and why?
Ok /g/, I'm at a loss. Every single time my PC wakes up from sleep/boots up my processor's clock speed goes up from 3.4 GHz to 3.7 GHz and the voltage goes up to 1.325 from 1.2125.
I think this happened because of me tinkering with it in AMD Overdrive, because it looks to be happening because of Turbo Core. Problem is, uninstalling Overdrive or disabling turbo core only fixes the problem until the computer goes to sleep again. Any ideas on what could be happening? I never fucked with my clock speed or voltage besides using overdrive.
Im trying to install debian on a netbook but during the installation it asks for a CD/dvd-drive or tells me to show it where that is. There simply is none built in. Im using a USB stick.
Tried full .isos, light .isos, netinst, all of them ask for a drive. What do?
if there is a mostly legit version of Lollipop android for PC, why is it so hard to install and keep stable? The computers that they've made, are they just really big tablets with USB parts and CD drives basically?
I realized that they would need ARM right?
Also, on this computer I got, it's got a 120 GB drive, 10 years old but it runs ok. I'm thinking of selling it if i can. I thought I could get 50 maybe 60 out of it if im lucky. If I can't, can 2 gbs of ram run a shitty server?
splitting is a pain in the ass (thanks HDCP) I recommend a tv tuner
a USB one would work and then from your PC you could "Cast" it or use a pass through to get it anywhere
I accidentally made too much coffee, what is the best way to distill the leftovers back into pure water so that I can use it for next time? My state is having a drought so I don't want to be wasteful.
The energy you'd waste doing that would far outweigh the water you'd save.
If you have some kind of really heavy duty filtration system you could try to filter the coffee parts out, but I doubt it would work too well and it would probably clog up your filter
I have an old Android jellybean phone.
I forgot the password but I want to get some important things off of it, any way I can access the files? I feel retarded right now.
if I wasn't broke right now I'd buy that surface pro 2 from you
My girlfriend wants something portable she can do art on, the pro 2 w/stylus works great because of freshpaint and 1024 pressure sensitive levels.
This app wants me to create a whole app to get one token to use because twitter is greedy.
Each "app" is good for 100,000 tokens, If you've already made an "app," can I use one of your tokens?
>buy rocketraid esata controller for £35
>tracking says out for delivery
>get a note instead saying I need to pay £11 customs charge
What the fuck is this shit. I can't even find out where the seller is from, just says fulfilled by Amazon. Ive never had customs charge before.
whats the best player to watch mkvs on? I haved VLC and Pot Player. How ever, pot player is having difficulty playing right now, and VLC makes everything grey out and sploochy for some reason.
I mean, I thought I would ask you guys, but normally VLC does fantastic for most everything.
Best air cooling solution. But get a case that has sound dampening materials in it, like the Fractal R4 or R5 without those gay glass windows. Cool and quiet is best.
that's the fan i was more leaning towards. The only downside with that fan is that it is FUCKHUGE and kind of an eyesore, but if it gets the job done and does it quietly i suppose that's all that really matters
What do I look for in audio cables? I just got a pair of higher end speakers for the first time, and I foolishly didn't understand neither they, nor the amplifier, wouldn't come with wires. So I'm going to pick some up tomorrow, but what separates the good, the bad, and the Monster?
>The only downside with that fan is that it is FUCKHUGE and kind of an eyesore
After removing the fans from the heatsink, stick the noctua fan cables into cpu_fan and opt_fan first before you mount the actual heatsink, saves time. Because you will use both fans that come in the package. Also install your RAM before mounting the heatsink. Also saves time.
And who cares how it looks ? I don't care how it looks so long as it does its job and is quiet enough. My fucking macbook at idle is noisier than my desktop under load in this R4. The sound damper materials actually work in this case, I love it.
At 94% CPU load across all threads at 4.6GHz converting videos my haswell-e doesn't go above 68C with that cooler.
I'm building my own PC for the first time and was thinking about going with this motherboard http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0131GA5EU?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_3&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
Now I don't know much about motherboards but this one looks pretty good to me. The thing I was wondering was what makes some of these motherboards cost up to $400? I'm buying some pretty good hardware and I don't want a motherboard that isn't very good. I could use some suggestions on a good motherboard or if the one I am currently thinking about getting is a good one.
I've been using a $15 logitech keyboard+mouse for a few years now and was wondering what mouse+keyboard do you guys use? I'm looking to get something a little comfier.
Also, I was thinking about getting a mouse pad. Any mouse pads you guys recommend?
These are albums that I have recently deleted off of the USB I use for my car stereo. Does anyone know why they still show up like this? The songs on the album themselves still play.
mouse doesn't matter as much, but a good mech should be right up your alley. get something cheap, preferably cherry brown / blue, all cherry switches are born equally, no matter the board's price.
deleted files aren't deleted, maybe these are even in the "recycle bin". They are there until they are overwritten.
I'm guessing the USB reader doesn't follow the specifications and checks what's supposed to be deleted properly, and just shows them anyways.
I need a new monitor and was thinking of getting this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236313&cm_re=monitor_144hz-_-24-236-313-_-Product
Does anyone else have this monitor? It seems like a pretty good deal to me
probably whole thing. Generally things will be scrambled around to seemingly random places in the encrypted file, so you'd have to compare the entire file anyways, and at that point overwriting is easier.
Can someone recommend me the best lightweight, under 13" hybrid Laptop/Tablet for around £500?
I'm leaning towards the Lenovo Yoga 700 because it's fanless and shit and won't warm up my lap whilst I'm using it but just wondering if the performance might be a bit shit as a result. I could live with it if it's not too bad, it uses an Core M3-6y30 processor.
Do you use CCleaner? it has a "drive viper" under "tools". A single pass of that should clean it up.
Or a full format should clear it up too.
And filling it up with other songs should too.
Yeah I'm just saying. I think I saw a guide on here recently. There's other guides out there for you to google. maybe try to boot with IDE and fix the ahci driver in device manager.
why no site is insecure warning for http sites firefox?
Wouldn't it be better if the browser by default came with a warning that the site you visited defaulted to http, offering you a link to try the encrypted site or as "I know what I am doing, go anyway" like they currently do for self signed certificates?
I didn't think so either to be honest, especially not from a country that's next door with good relations to the UK. I need the fucking thing so I'll just pay it and then complain afterwards.
The money I saved on the 30% off I will pay in customs fees. Sure feels a bit of a scam. Expected from chinks but from the French?
Why do you niggers always assume that not having a top tier computer means you're poor? Maybe that anon makes 180k a year but spoends his cash on other shit and doesn't need a $4000 PC.
Or it could even be a VM.
is there an ez 2 follow guide for buying a new computer (that can play some not very demanding games and be used for normal shit)
im gonna build one and havent since 2011 so any advice or just straight forward suggestions would be appreciated
wanna spend between $500 and $1000
What kind of AI could someone get running at home and how much would a reasonable one cost?
I've thought of getting a pet for a long time but since I'm allergic to pretty much everything and I can't be tied to my house for long periods (travel too much) it wouldn't really be a good idea. Been thinking of spending the thousands a pet would cost over the years to instead build a home AI that could be my dumb-chum.
did you try to right click and see your options? google it it, there is always some way to do it "facebook video downloader"
"Ais" do not exist. you would have something that could listen to you and shit. and also, you gotta have bill gates money at best for something like that.
If anything, you cant train your computer to open shit, ive done it but I'm waiting for Jarvis
Just do what my gf does:
>cry every day
>at least 3-4 times, an hour or so each
>tried at least 8 different drugs
>never wants to do anything
>no enthusiasm for anything
>find it harder and harder to constantly look after her
>sometimes can't even get dressed without crying
I'm starting to feel like I need drugs too.
I was taught growing up that you have to work for your shit to be good. She's great but the depression ruins her. I just know if I leave her she'll somehow get better and find someone else. She'd make a great parent too if she got a grip on her depression. Fucking sucks man.
tried unsecure and secure boot too, did factory reset on bios and other shit including legacy and uefi options and various linux versions and live usb makers
wangblows installs nicely for some ungodly reason
OK, I need a bit help clarifying scopes and globals variables in python.
I want to make a function that deletes all my user-defined global variables, and I want to put that function in a separate file/script so that whenever I want to run it I can just import that file and call the function.
I wrote the function and it works fine if I define it in the same file I'm calling it in, but if I define it in a separate file and then call it in another, it doesn't work. I mean, I get no errors, but my variables don't get deleted.
The problem is that when I call that function from another file, it doesn't threat my global variables like global (using globals() ).
Any workaround for something like this in python? Something like friend classes in C++ or something?
nah, the only way that would do it is if you literally got hit by lightning, and even then your computer's power brick would get it first if you're lucky enough it gets grounded out.
yeah, don't waste your time yet. A friend of mine has W10 and he has trouble all the time with her. She doesn't listen to 1/2 the shit he says. She's either stuck up or retarded. I'm guessing retarded.
that's a relief. i have spotty electricity sometimes and i just invested in some ssds.
i never wondered about this before, since i only had an ssd in my laptop, which can obviously run off battery.
i was thinking about getting an uninterrupted powersupply, but i guess i won't need that. thank you!
An IRC network is something like Rizon or EFnet. A server is an individual server that hosts people's connections. The servers are all linked together so it doesn't matter what server you connect to when you're chatting.
Sometimes there will be a netsplit and you'll see half the channel suddenly disconnect, this is one of the servers disconnecting from the rest of the network.
Sir at least will listen to you and can respond. Siri learns from you. She's at least a smart ass.
there's no point, go make a discordapp group. it's much easier.
do it. it's very nice and comfy and very windows like. You can set your mint icon down at the bottom to anything you want. I assassin creeded it up on it.
BUT BUT BUT anon, do check it to be safe! I would hate to give you bad advice on something and later you come back all mad about it.
"GOD DAMN ANON FUCKED ME UP! I CAN'T TRUST /g/!"
I want to rice my windows installation using Cygwin problem is I'm not actually sure how I do that. Not looking for an explanation here but if someone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.
>inb4 install gentoo
I'm slowly learning Linux in my spare time.
Since MS has gone full retard with w7 updates, and spam out botnet and w10 bloat shit, I've started to only install the security updates. I've been doing this for about a year.
Since I don't feel like googling for a few hours, do I actually need any of this shit?
anyway, if your system is running fine, you don't need to install anything other than security updates
>do I actually need any of this shit?
99.999% you don't
Don't trust any Windows updates these days, Microshit is desperate as fuck to force Windows 10 into every Win 7 computer in the world so at this point I wouldn't be surprised if even security updates stealthily puts Win 10 garbage in your pc
ah ok, yeah any ways, so go with mint or ubuntu, if you want minimal and something simple to use but functional at the same time it looks decent, do that.
nah, not all of us are going to tell you to be that faggotry on it. Linux is cool but not productive enough to ACTUALLY do shit with. Don't waste your time unless you're building a gaming server or love masochism. It's cool, it's nice but essentially useless for anything you're going to want to do.
holy shit no anon. go grab a fucking liquid cooling system. You are either this fucking new or this fucking trolly. Which are you? If you new, that's cool. Just admit it at least.
but seriously, like the first reply, a thin layer at best. if anything get maybe 2 things of it to keep safe. never know when you need a 2nd tube but then again, 1 is prolly fine.
when windows 10 tries that shit again, open task manager, look for DWX or DXW I don't remember what it looks like its 1 of those, open file location, then close it on your TM, after that, right click, take ownership of whole file, right click DELETE. DONE. That's how you get rid of W10 bull shit. With this Take ownership file bit, you can literally delete anything on your PC.
Would it be possible to strap heatsinks to oneself and use that to cool down on a hot day?
It was 40C today and I was wondering why my clothes don't have heatsinks built into them.
it's spyware and has forced updates. it is literally a botnet
watch it with the auto-translate captions if you don't speak german.
Oh yeah, I wasn't saying to do that. My post wasn't really related to that, it just reminded me of what I was thinking earlier. Why don't I have a piece of summer clothing that has heatsinks built into it to cool me down.
It's 2016, what the fuck people.
1. yes, they literally can't just keep it the way it is.
What pisses me off is that windows 7 is just fine. There's nothing wrong with it, then windows 8 comes out and fucks up older games from XP days and says"you wanna play this you're going to have to Vbox it or find a better version" which is what I did cause the Sims complete collection didn't do shit.
2. The look is ugly as hell.
3. the NSA is more back doory than ever.
4. fucking ads in the god damn start menu
5. edge is a load of shit.
6. there's a shit ton of "security" features you have to turn off cause they basically wanna watch you piss
stop that anon. gentoo is not worth it.
1. if you're trolling, go sit in the corner
2. if you're not, ok, don't. It's not worth it. Do you like headaches?
Anyone else noticing some spooky shit with the KB2952664 update? A few months ago I noticed it was in my list of installed updates, even though I never installed it. It was also listed in the list of updates they wanted me to install, even though it apparently already was installed. I removed it, restarted, and a few minutes after it was back again. I tried again, and now the computer was stuck on the "configuring updates" for like an hour, then I just gave up. The update is still listed as installed, and in the list of new updates, it's also still listed, now saying it was released 2 days ago.
You might say, it's installing automatically, but I don't have automatic updates on, I have it set to search only, then I install them.
See my link I posted about the whole windows deleting files thing anon. If I see it 1 more time, I'm taking windows updates completely off my PC
It's literally a meam. Don't take it seriously. Any one who says Gentoo is good is literally a fedora faggot durito MT Dew fag who only likes coding and making it look as "their OS" as possible when really it's more work than it really is.
if /g/ would tell you what to really install it's going to be arch
1. Trolls"install gentoo!"
2. The linux users "Arch is what linux you wanna do"
3. The linux users who realize it's not that great "Linux is nice but stick to windows, there's more there for you"
4. Real /g/ users "It doesn't fucking matter what you use as long as you know what you're doing. There's a guide for EVERYTHING
Trying to buy the best smart phone under 200 bucks, any recommendations? Keep in mind i want the best camera quality as possible, i don't really care about anything else.
1 Get a 4 gb or higher USB
2 goto ubuntu.com
3get the free ISO, no you don't have to pay for it, get the latest.
4 google unetbootin
5 run unetbootin
6 restart pc
7 install it
8 do what the installer says
9 enjoy ubuntu
however anon, I would recommend not doing it, only so you can do it in a virtual machine so you can see if you want to do it before you fuck your shit up. Do you honestly wanna do that? No. Don't waste your time on something you're not 100% with yet. You will get mad that your computer is dual booting, then you will be mad that you don't like it and it's there wasting your space and the 2nd partition you can't do anything about
ah yeah that's always perfect for a test run. I am gonna install Ubuntu on a drive later today on a computer. If you look up, I'm the dude talking about android on PC and what not.
how do I setup keepass to use a smart card on linux? what kind of cards and readers/writers can I use on linux?
I just want to use a password manager, but I want an extra layer of security with a keyfile
