Who /waiting for Zen/ here?
>>
currently saving up some money so i can trash my current desktop intel i3 setup

Phenom 2 X3 720 BE w/ 4th core unlocked and HD4870 1gb reporting in.

WHERE IS THE Y AXIS? THIS CHART IS WORTHLESS.
>>
Just the delusional AMDfags.
>>
>>52406415
Naw, waiting for Bristol Ridge to replace my aging Kaveri 7850k. I'll overclock the new chip to its maximum and see how it performs.

I'm not much of a gamer, I just really like overclocking and the APUs provide a completely different challenge compared to conventional CPUs. I'll certainly be upgrading to the zen based APUs though, since they'll most likely be socket compatible with Bristol Ridge.
>>
>>52406630
Instructions per clock is the y-axis. Without values it is vague, but I only used the image because literally every article about Zen uses it.
>>
>>52406661
Correct. Bristol Ridge and the Zen-based APUs will both use AM4.

Here you go.
>>
>>52406667
you can't put a meaningful value to instructions per clock.
>>
I decided to buy $350 worth of AMD stock. I can't lose. If Zen succeeds imma make bank. If Zen fails, I can bitch about Zen with the authority of having invested the money.
>>
>>52406415
It is already deprecated.

Waiting for Polaris, selling my 280x before it devalues

Shit my face, thats not 40%
>>
>>52408834
The graph indeed shows it to look more like 400%

I don't approve of you're meme images though
>>
>>52406556
Cool! We almost have the same system. Except I never could get my 4th core stable enough for daily use.

Anyway, they better hurry up with Zen because I don't think I will be able to hold out much longer.

If I haven't heard any concrete release dates/details within the next few months, I'm likely going to upgrade to an I-5. Which will pain me greatly but, frankly, upgrading to a 4 year old FX doesn't seem smart and so far the APUs don't appear to be a significant upgrade from what I have.
>>
>>52408834
Maybe you just lack the intelligence to read a graph with a non zero origin.
>>
Yep, will wait until it's released.
>>
>>52406661
When is Bristol Ridge scheduled to be released? I had read March...
>>
here, hoping I can do a amd only build some time next year/start of 2017, but only if zen is good, and amd sort out their shitty linux drivers
>>
>>52406415
Me. I don't care if it's anything amazing. Match Haslel IPC and provide eight cores and I'm ditching my 4790K for it out of principle.

>>52406556
That's literally the system I used from 2009-2013. My 4870 died four years in though. Spent another year with the same system and a 7850, then built a whole new system.
>>
>>52409531
Probably around that time frame.
>>
Zen+. I just bought an APU two months ago and it's more than enough for my needs.
>>
>>52406415
I'm on the ZEN AND BROADWELL-E HYPTE TRAIN.

TOOT TOOT LETS LETS LEAVE 2015 BEHIND.
>>
>>52409726
>BROADWELL-E
enjoy the $1500 cpu
>>
>>52409737
>enjoy the $1500
>Implying I'm going get an X branded sku.
You could say the same for for the 5960X, but only fool would buy it.

The Broadwell-E price-equivalent to the 5930K will do fine.
>>
>>52406415
I am, i have an fx chip. Hoping it will deliver. My mobo is dying hope it lasts till zen
>>
>>52406415
I wonder if zen+ means zen plus feminism
>>
>>52406415
My body is ready. I have an FX 8350 w/ gtx 980.

Gonna build a new machine this year over the summer just for gaming, if zen is awesome, I am getting that, if not getting whatever Intel has.
>>
>>52408479
Sure you can. PIII had an IPC of about 4 and P4 had an IPC of about 3.2
>>
>>52409841
that would be zen+=
>>
>>52406415
Patiently waiting for zen here
>>
>>52409737
I really enjoy my e5 2680
>>
i bought i5 6500 before Christmas. did i make a bad mistake? should i have waited for zen?
>>
>>52409808

>mfw im running a 6300 oc'd in a shitty 3+1 asus mobo
>its been like this for three years

im hoping it lasts for zen too
>>
I often wonder if AMD would have been better off if they had spent the last 5 years ticking and tocking the Stars cores rather than messing with Bulldozer...
>>
>>52410002
probably
>>
>>52409879
depends on the instructions used and even the sequence of the instructions. It's a purely theoretical value and there is no standardized method of calculating it, so writing a number on a graph is extremely pointless.
>>
>>52410016
Yet some processors get more done with the same amount of clock cycles.
>>
>>52406556
What do you use your machine for?

I have almost the same machine but with a 560gtx sitting in my closet because I upgraded to an i5 rig. Much games.
>>
>>52410038
Hence why you compare IPC between processors using the same workload for both processors, but putting an absolute value to it is meaningless because it changes depending on the workload.
>>
>>52409934
skylake is broken so yes
