so at what point am I hitting the limits of my HDD?

I have ~18MB/s available but I seem to max out around 15.5-16MB/s even with 100+ seeders.

Is it my HDD or is it just natural overhead and such causing me to not hit my theoretical max of 18MB/s?

Been on PTs since OiNK, so I know what I'm talking about. They're good value but it depends on what your needs are. I've never used one because I'm content with local storage and home internet speeds, if want to build a massive collection you will probably need one, if you just want to download some good quality movies/music/books/TV shows/etc, share a bit, and you have a few TBs local and at least an OK internet connection then there is basically no need for a seedbox.

For example WCD has very stringent rules on allowed formats, trumping, quality of uploads, etc etc, whereas most porn trackers will just take any content you upload pretty much. I download quite a lot of porn and I'd estimate that there are at least 50 scenes that I have more than one copy of just because they've been included in more than one pack or I've downloaded them individually then got them in a pack later. That type of thing just doesn't happen at WCD, BTN, PTP, etc, at least not in the same way (I know you might find more than one copy of a track on different releases or some shit for example, but that's not the point I'm making).

Not likely, they know that people can have technical issues with BT clients. Just make sure you don't fuck your ratio or break any HnR rules and you will be fine. They only really go after people who consistently abuse the system. I've limited upload to 1kB/s for short periods (no more than 24 hours) on multiple occasions when I wanted to focus on something else, but I definitely don't do it regularly or in any kind of a pattern. You just need to be careful and be prepared to explain any of your actions.

One of my leeches is trying to download a 158GB torrent from me during the AB freeleech, it ends in 20 hours and he is only downloading at 1MB/s

He is currently at 8% meaning ~145GB left, at 1MB/s that is going to take over 43 hours.

I have a library at my house (several thousand books easily) and I am sure I have plenty of things not on bib, but nothing is in digital format so unless there is an easy way to convert them I will likely be struggling to get those 100 uploads.
