I REALLY wish they'd give us a design that isn't an iphone ripoff. I want them to make something like the L920 Android mockup that used to get passed around. This was the dream.
> defending the Biebler elf
This is for you.
I really wanted a Nokia N1 but they never launched it here.
It even had a USB C port before everyone else.
>please use deprecated garbage and cater to MEEEEE
>no signs of a removable battery
>unbearably shitty jewgle linux instead of a proper GNU-based OS
Fake nokia. Even if it is actually nokia, it's still fake nokia.
PS: android with google apps is the windows of smartphone systems quality and freedom/privacy wise, except unlike windows, there is no genuinely useful software exclusive so it, so there's really no reason to ever touch that trash
who cares if a phone OS is dead? casual gaymer scumbags?
everything useful is webapps now so as long as you can port a modern browser to it you're good to go. the amateurs in silicon valley got tired of knowing two programming languages, only one of which had "java" in its name.
Wouldn't buy one if my life depended on it.
Had a N95, friend had a N96 and it was 12 months of torture for the both of us. I went through 4 replacements before warranty expired, he went through 3. Warranty ran out and about a week later mine took it's past breath.
Good riddance and never again
Reminder to all you "iPhone copy" fags, the HTC made Infobar A02 came out way before the iPhone, yet somehow had the same basic shape with every edge rounded out. Almost like there is only so much you can do with a rectangular slab and sometimes different companies will make similar looking products.
If it was metal and had big ugly antenna lines on it you guys would be calling it a rip off. The shape is very similar.
Why are people so excited about the Nokia brand re-entering the market?
The actual Nokia hardware never left the market, it was just sold to Microsoft and now goes under a new name. Nokia the company doesn't have anything left of it's phone arm after selling it to Microsoft. The only way they can get back into phones is ether by letting other manufacturers use their name or by selling phones made by Alcatel-Lucent, who they recently bought, under their name.
In short: If has the Nokia name on it, it's not a Nokia in anything but name. Pure and simple.
>be me 2016
>Try Android 4.4.2 LG/Moto/Samsung/Sony
>Try Android 5.0/5.1 LG/Moto/Samsung/Sony
>Try WP 8.1 and WP10 beta
>Still no alarm when phone is turn off
That shit is why i went back to my damn C3520 (that replaced my old nokia 6131 may god have it in his glory), why the hell would i want 1000+ fart apps that would use even the capacitive keys if they could when the damn phone alarm don't sound if you turn it off because fuck airplane mode.
Also battery life, holy shit be it either droid or WP, it fucking sucks, even the old beat up phone i have now can last a week of regular use with 50% of the battery, the other crap even with network reduced to 2G and all task killed except the OS, updates set to manual and calls can't last more than 3 days.
>SMARTPHONE retarded iphone knockoff with no room for battery inside
>If has the Nokia name on it, it's not a Nokia in anything but name. Pure and simple.
NOPE. ARE YOUNAWARENTHAT THE DESIGNER OF THE NOKIA N97/N8/N9 IS STILL WORKING FOR NOKIA AS HEAD OF DESIGN? HE CHOSE NOT TO MOVE TO MICROSOFT. HIS LATEST DESIGN JOB FOR NOKIA WAS THE NOKIA N1 AND NOKIA OZO.
btw, NOKIA IS OZO IS DESIGNED AND BUILT 100% IN FINLAND

On my old KC550 if it had turned off due to battery drain and had an alarm on,it would skip boot and start straight into alarm just to wake me up with whatever power the battery has even if it means 3 seconds of loud sound.
Saved my ass multiple times when on the road and didn't have the time to charge the phone.
Kuules mitäs jos vähän rauhoittuisit nyt make...
Seriously, a device is a whole lot more than just what it actually looks like and a single person does not mean that much. The person in charge of smartphone cameras after all went to work for Apple not long before the Microsoft buyout and that doesn't mean that iPhones now have PureView cameras in them.
the damage control is real
If roles were reversed, you gents would be very quick to call apple out on their design being a clone.
The fact is that Apple has been leading smartphone design for a while now - android producers always follow suit with a clone.
If you really cannot see this then you are living in denial.
>Apple charging case
>Apple mouse charging
>Apple one port laptop
Apple hasn't made any revolutionary products since the iPad. That's almost six years ago. Just wait until they innovate a phone with no audio jack later this year.
Anything more than 1080p on a phone is a waste of battery life.
I hate this trend of phones that have 4k screens, are razor thin, and turn into useless fucking pieces of paper after four hours off the charger.
Also edge is retarded
top kek YOU FUCKING IDIOT
that looks like trash
If any of you want the best phone ever made (which is also the best Nokia phone ever made) just buy pic related
Finally something for we N9 enthusiasts to upgrade to.
I've been stubbornly clasping this deprecated piece of shit for years. The only way it could be improved (beyond better battery life, a better display, a more powerful CPU, and just about everything else) was to make it look like something Apple made, and we finally have that!
>we N9 enthusiasts
>upgrading the android
Ar eyou fucking stupid nigger?????????????
>on screen buttons
looks like im gonna postpone my upgrade
>front facing logos
WHY DO MANUFACTURERS DO THIS. I KNOW I BOUGHT YOUR PRODUCT. WHY WOULD YOU TATTOO YOUR FUCKING LOGO ON THE SCREEN I'M GOING TO BE LOOKING AT FOR POTENTIALLY YEARS?
WHAT THE FUCK.
>1080p display, higher res is a waste on a phone
>microSD for extra storage
>high quality sound processor
>FM transmitter instead of "use our data for radio" jewness
>fucking 3.5mm jack and decent hardware and battery instead of "muh revolutionary cutting edge thinness" to sacrifice hardware and battery
>as little propriety shit as possible
I'm a man of simple taste and low expectations. This would give me the biggest boner.
But of course Android userbase is pic related so they would want an ultra thin iShit 7 clone.
Yeah we need another boring screen with frame. As if the market wasn't flooded with them. Back then I could walk to the phone area in the electronics store and have fun trying out all the phones. None looked alike. Now they all look the same.
How about doing something different?
I want the n950 with modern specs.
Finally someone in this thread that isn't a fucking idiot
If you don't want a Modern N9 or a N950 you can just kill yourself as a fucking nigger you are
This must be like fifth time I've read people on internet claiming Nokia is back because they are making a new not-WP phone. And guess what: every time they release one, people forget about it like 1 month later.
>every time they release one, people forget about it like 1 month later.
Nokia has never released any phones since selling their old phone division to Microsoft. The non-compete only expired last week.
Just look at it. It's beautiful, even though it broke my jeans by leaving brick-size shape on my jeans pocket.
They trusted a North American CEO.They have an Indian CEO now and things are very profitable for them.
who does, though?
>5" screen (fine) - 480 x 800 pixels
i had an android phone with a dual core cpu and 768 of ram. such a horrible experience. slow as fuck, and the screen would constantly go back. and i don't even want to imagine the giant pixels on that xl screen.
when you're away from civilisation for an extended period of time and wish for your phone to last longer than half a day.
when you've got a sparrow's fart of reception and don't want your phone to turn into a molten pile of slag generating enough TX power.
>Stopped using this 4 months ago because it finally broke down after over 5 years of use.
>Got a Sony Z3c to replace it.
Thank god for Sony and it's decently sized phones.
The Z3c is pretty good and everything, but I'm terrified of ever accidentally dropping it or harming the fragile glass back in some way.
N8 was mostly aluminium and could take a beating.
Manufacturers need to go back to that kinda sturdy design, fuck the "premium" crap everyone is gunning for at the moment.
Also had a god tier camera for it's time, almost exactly on par with the Z3c, not even kidding.
Either the camera tech has stagnated like a motherfucker, or then Nokia was waay ahead of it's time with that.
>Either the camera tech has stagnated like a motherfucker, or then Nokia was waay ahead of it's time with that.
Wonder why they don't just go and put similar sized sensors into the phones today.
Thinness can't be the only reason that's preventing them from doing it and it's not like the N8 was huge or anything.
It's actually smaller than the Z3c.
The camera is always brought up when the manufacturers try to lure people into buying their phones.
If you stuck a similar sized sensor to a phone with todays tech, I'd imagine you'd get pretty amazing picture quality.
In the pic left is N8 and right is the Z3c.
Sure there is a little difference in clarity, but this is about 5 fucking years of technological progress.
When taking pictures inside, the N8 is actually way clearer in some situations.
>he's poor on top of being brainwashed
>poorfags consider an iphone equivalent to winning the lotto
Its just another android phone with different trademark sticker in case.
Not sure if it's dying but they've surely lost their spot as the only company that can design a phone that doesn't suck and doesn't look like a toy.
They used to compete with iPhones in terms of all-round best flagships on the market. Now they're struggling to stay relevant by making iPhone clones.
For there to be an exception there has to be something for it to be excepted from.
If there were already a huge variety of phones then blackberry wouldn't be an exception, it would just be normal. But as it is, all smartphones are the same, thus blackberry is an exception.
They just need a dock/lightning extension cable for proper peripheral charging, redesign the charging case, and get a third party to make a cradle for the mouse with the mirror for the sensor.
Pencil is fine with an extension cable.
When the charger falls out, isnt turned on or isn't available.
The phone can then turn itself off at 2% battery and still wake you up in the morning.
We already had this on much cheaper phones.
I can accept that it would only work on the first alarm entry and everything else would work the same but this is not a unreasonable request.
Im not damage controlling. The pencil works really well on the iPad pro especially for sketching and the lightning insert Is very convenient. Make a wall plug or extension that does male to female lightning, and the whole lollipop/dildo thing becomes a non-issue. In fact, all charging port issues except for the mouse, get fixed.
Im surprised someone hasnt made the cradle for the magic mouse yet. Market as a battery extension, give an additional 2000 mA/hr and have a 90 degree lightning plug. Makes so much sense, since Apple wont redesign it.
Reminder that LG singlehandedly killed physical keyboards after realizing hinges on slide out and fliptop phones are a financial black hole.
Too much R&D, too much cost for parts, and big financial blackhole for people wanting to return it for a new one because the sliding mechanism broke.
Right... guess I'll have to settle for buying an original on eBay for a thousand dollars.
