Not sure what private trackers are all about?
The mission of /ptg/ is to promote the highest possible standards of tracker service by providing members with opportunities for professional development, by recognizing technical competence through examinations and by advancing the interests of its members.
Check out the wiki and update it yourself if you want more instead of complaining like a fucking faggot. https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/Private_trackers

Remember the following:
>staff occasionally read these generals and have posted here before.
>staff may pretend to be normal users asking for invites and when you invite them, they ban you for inviting strangers
>people may report emails and other personal info posted here to staff to get you banned.
>most of the invite offers here are people trolling you with false hope - begging for invites is a waste of time and you should just interview

That's a really nice OP image.
What are you guys doing/snatching tonight? My Fiio X1 and Xiaomi Hybrid's (I lost my clip+ and they're discontinued/crazy overpriced now and I need something for the gym) just so I'm downloading a few hundred albums from what then importing, tagging and transcoding them to vorbis q7 with beets. Feel good.
I'm also reading through UHD BD threads on HDB and a few other places to work out how long it might take to pwn the encryption/how trumping is going to work/which releases might be shit upscales.
Appreciate tune recommendations family.
Will the downscaled UHD -> FHD still be able to trump current FHD encodes from Blurays? How does that work. Won't the encoders have to check whether it is bitstarved or if the UHD versions have their own problems separate from the Bluray releases? Interesting stuff.
It took us literal years to crack BD and only because someone fucked up and a key got leaked,
Yes and yes to both your questions. As with everything on HDB trumps are allowed IF the new source is BETTER.
Those looks like some nice earphones, and I've always fancied getting a Fiio player, how is the X1? I'm still using an old 120GB iPod Classic with Rockbox firmware. I've been meaning to upgrade the hardware for ages, but I find myself relying more and more on my phone+Plex to stream straight from my seedbox.
I don't know what sort of music you're into anon, but I'd recommend Kangding Ray - Cory Arcane if you want something IDM/techno-ish that'll really test/show off your headphones. Exceptional production, and pretty fun if you're into music that's a little experimental. If you let us know what you like I'll try and chime in with other reccs though.
>Obviously a 72 character password is plenty long for any purpose, but we believe in future proofing, so the new limit is 307200 characters.
So how long until spaghetti slashes the nip rate by 99% for anyone not using 307200 character passwords?
I know senpai, I know.
Yeah so I bought a pair of hybrid's (4th gen) and a pair of piston 3's to replace the pair I lost. I haven't had time to compare them yet.
I'm looking to get in to some brapp brapp dnb because everybody on IRC shills it so hard. I've been going through /mu/ collages and I'm currently listening to Mistabishi but yeah, Techno is sweeeet.
Perhaps but like I said, it could take a very long time. These fucking players have DRM that makes the player call home to Sony to get the fucking decryption key every time you want to watch a movie. Fucking kill me in my sleep already please.
I can beat you if you want, but just remember that you started the shitposting.
>I can beat you if you want, but just remember that you started the shitposting.
I'm out, this is the best I can do. Try me anon.
Didn't realise it was you f.am. Are you listening to Drop by Mistabishi? Another album I haven't listened to in years. You're single handedly getting me redownloading loads of classics. Couple of reccs:
High Contrast - Tough Guys Don't Dance
London Elektricity - Billion Dollar Gravy (or Power Ballads)
LTJ Bukem - Fabriclive 46
Noisia - Fabriclive 40
ASC - Astral Traveller
Have you seen the trailer for McAdams new flick, Spotlight? Looks pretty good to me.
Hi friends, I noticed that your pngs were unoptimized so I've taken the liberty of optimizing them for you.
pls no more, lets have actual discussion
I can't tell if you're serious. If there's a perfectly decent copy that you feel you can watch without worrying about quality, then why wouldn't you watch it? Some fucking masochist complex?
Snatched senpai. Speaking of movies, Have you rewatched Spider-man (2002), Spider-man 2 (2004) and the original Iron Man (2008) imo best capeshit of all time the 4k Remaster of Spider-man (I watched the D-Z0N3 encode) is in my top 5 best looking blurays I've ever seen.
Or I could watch the hundreds of movies in my backlog and then snatch it when it becomes available. Like, why do you NEED TO WATCH IT NAO when you can just get a much better experience later on?
But if there's a copy that you're happy with then why go for another copy just because it's better?
>the experience changes with quality
Really? If you're watching a movie that isn't really great quality but it's pretty standard then you just can't enjoy it? Pretty sad desu, I feel bad for you.
shit go senpai, here have mine
I'm talking about a hypothetical in which there is a movie that you're happy with that isn't exactly perfect. Although I'm sure being the anal-retentive fucker that you are, a situation like that doesn't exist.
>Mcadams senpai, there's no Spider-Man 2 4K remaster internal, help
Is the one you want.
>Also what makes that release better than the ahd one - of iron man.
There's probably nothing wrong with the AHD internal, I haven't even looked.
No you just didn't understand what I was saying. Situations where a movie doesn't look perfect but still keeps the person happy with the quality exist for normal, functioning members of society.
However, for people with autism (this is you), it can be hard to accept that not everything must be perfect all the time. And another hard thing for members of the autistic community to understand is how other people can enjoy things that they cannot, but hopefully as you grow and mature in life you'll beat the stigma!
I believe in you!
Of course the experience changes. If a proper 1080p encode felt identical to a 144p stream, there wouldn't be any 1080p content.
It's not that I can't enjoy it. I just enjoy it less. Like, I can watch a screener of The Hateful Eight right now. I'd probably enjoy it.
Or, I could watch all of these: http://letterboxd.com/cinebro/list/they-shoot-pictures-dont-they-top-1000-films/, then watch a good encode of The Hateful Eight afterwards. I'd enjoy it in that case, too. A bit more because the video looks nicer. It's not like I don't have plenty of movies to watch in the meanwhile.
It doesn't matter how tiny the difference is. In the latter scenario, I always gain something while losing nothing.
I haven't seen Spider (or 2) in time, but I definitely didn't rate them when I watched them first time around. I'm surprised there are 4k remasters of them too. I was under the impression that most of the early 2000 films were filmed digitally with the inferior cameras of the time. Might have to check.
Iron Man is good. I've got a little soft spot for capeshit, though the newer ones are wearing thin. (also redhead ScarJo in few hnngg.)
>not everything must be perfect all the time.
That's not what I'm saying. If a movie was old and didn't exist in HD that'd be just fine, you take what you can get. But when you can literally just wait a few months to get it there why the fuck wouldn't you.
I'm not talking about 144p streams, I'm talking about a perfectly watchable 720x384 screener.
When you can watch it now in a decent quality and then watch it later in a better quality, preventing spoilers from reaching you and allowing discussion among people who decided to watch it early too, why wouldn't you?
>When you can watch it now in a decent quality and then watch it later in a better quality, preventing spoilers from reaching you and allowing discussion among people who decided to watch it early too, why wouldn't you?
No spoilers have reached me for anything I've wanted to watch except sw7.
It's pretty easy when you don't talk about them in real life and don't have any social networking accounts.
that thread was amazing and I love you. We need to raid /tv/ more often.
I don't mean to alarm you senpai but you may have forgotten just how much Kirsten Dunst nipple there is in them.
The only capeshit I've ever liked are the three I mentioned are the three I mentioned + Batman Begins.
Although yes, Scarjo in The Avengers was something special.
If you guys somehow haven't seen Billy & Billie yet, get on that shit right the fuck now.
Dick Status = MUH
It doesn't matter what we're talking about, though. A 1080p encode will look nicer than a 720p encode, which will look nicer than a 480p encode, which will look nicer than a 144p encode.
The experience does change with quality. And while, yeah, you do get diminishing returns, you still get returns. So why not wait? What tangible benefit does watching a movie now give you?
>spoilers and discussion
If all my friends are excited to see a movie, we watch it together in a cinema.
Otherwise, we're not such dicks to each other we'd spoil it for each other or have a conversation where we're knowingly leaving someone out. Maybe get better friends?
>>spoilers and discussion

> what tangible benefit does watching a movie now give me
I literally explained it to you. And no, the experience doesn't change with quality in my eyes, at least for 480p and above. And while you'll say, "Oh no! Not for me! My experience changes! ", please consider that the whole of your argument is literally 'stop liking what I don't like', down to the quality and this shite about 'muh frunds r gud hehehe so we dont spoil'. It's completely irrelevant because your experience is DIFFERENT than my own. I want to be able to discuss a movie online and shitpost about it the instant there is a screener available instead of having to have a media blackout because shit gets spoiled. (see Han is killed by Kylo Ren meme)
also >>52397604 desu
I'm just going to stop arguing now because this is a fucking stupid argument based on view-points that won't be changed through talking shit at eachother on a marxist mongolian moon making imageboard.
Figured this was the place to ask.
My music collection is getting upwards into the 200 gig range now, and while it's mostly all sorted by Picard and has the proper tags according to it, my library is still clustered as fuck.
Am I missing something? Should I switch over solely to folder based music players? I'm at a loss here.
My music library is sorted like this
Stop assuming I "don't like" 480p encodes. I don't mind them. If there's no better quality available, sure I'll watch them. I just like higher quality more, and don't care if I have to wait a bit for it.
Clearly you do care about wanting to watch something now, which seems like completely backwards priorities to me, but... Whatever. You do you.
I'm not him but the only people that throw an utter shitfit about being spoiled are tumblr and leddit.
You can discuss whatever you want here and the worst you'll get is a warning for 'deliberately spoiling' people in the OP (once I got an image retroactively spoiled) but spoiler tags are easy to use so just use them (and just saying, I have them set to automatically display spoiled content so if you wanted to discuss something, the content would hardly interrupt any conversation.) And yes, most people do get spoiled if they wait, but so what? It's not like their decision is impacting on what you enjoy.
And yes, I rarely watch movies but when I want to watch something that I like I do I watch them in whatever quality I can get my hands on, regardless of what quality it is. For releases that are less urgent, I just pick and choose the best.
Some people do one thing, others do other things. And they're both equally legitimate.
My library is already tagged properly with musicbrainz picard (same source beets uses)
Might run it though the program again and see if it fixes anything.
How do you guys sort your vocaloid shit?
I know what you mean and on my computer I use mpd and cmus because they just werk where as foobar and clementine really just don't. So cmus must be folder based I guess.
I do filesystem browsing on my DAP because my folders are all nested similar to yours.
Like the other anons said, beets is an amazing tool if you haven't played with it before
cmus guy here, my music is all folder based and it just werks, so yeah I must be a folder based music player or whatever you called it.
Have you tried playing with the settings in whatever you're using?
It'll depend on your 'workflow' for listening to music, on how you should tackle organising library. I'll briefly explain mine below, to show you how I organise mine (about 200GB of V0s at the moment). Hopefully you find my example helpful.
I use Foobar2000 on Windows. See the pic, but I use a pretty basic interface which focuses on finding the music I want to listen to, then just displaying it as playlist+album art. I download all my music from WCD to my seedbox, and sync that folder (I use BitTorrent Sync), to the WCD folder in my library. I can then listen to new music in Foobar with minimal effort (most stuff is tagged sufficiently for a first/second/third/preliminary listen). If it's something I really enjoyed I then copy it to my 'Main' library, where I manually alter tags, add art, put in my preferred folder structure etc. I use the freedb and discogs plugins to help with the tagging, but I check and edit everything that gets a place in the main library.
This workflow has a few benefits. My Main library is a properly curated selection of music I know I like. Adding an album at a time after I've established I like it means that it's always properly organised and won't be bloated with things I've never listened to. Having a separate library for downloads means that new stuff doesn't need to be excessively organised at the time of download, and all my new music is sitting in one place ready to access. The negative is that you need to keep a local copy of your seedbox files, but this shouldn't be a problem for most.
The extra libraries you seen in my screenshot are just older, unsorted stuff. I also keep separate libraries for podcasts, mix CDs,etc.
Generally your workflow will be based on how you listen to music. If you don't want to have a core library of stuff that you know you want to keep, and just download loads of new shit to listen to and then chuck away all the time then my method won't work for you.
My workflow for music is really simple.
>Listen to music on youtube/whatever shit I'm using at the time
>Fire up soulseek, grab that shit
>Throw it in Picard, it's now tagged, sorted into my music folder
Simple as that. I almost ever torrent music unless I'm grabbing a Discography. I don't care if my music folder is bloated as shit.
>Fire up soulseek, grab that shit
>implying you don't have to wait in line
If you were the original guy looking for help, then just start curating your library properly then. But if you don't care then obviously my autism guide is no use to you.
>tfw just copped a Soundblaster Audigy card because I figured I'd never need to carry a DAC/amp around with me
>tfw got it to work on Debian (my main OS) but couldn't once I restarted my PC
>tfw waste of £30
Just get it reenabled then, SciHD is a /ptg/ approved tracker.
Nah I'm just lazy as fuck and don't have my system down pat for torrenting shit yet.
Back before bitgamer went down I was really into the private tracker scene, but I've fallen out of it as of late.
>tfw you uploaded the majority of the wii isos to bitgamer
Being a collectorfag is good.
Is the application still really easy to get in? I remember I got in because I have access to nearly every military field manual from every NATO country.
>tfw I never uploaded any of them because I'm a pussy ass nigga
I didn't say REAPPLY, that will get you banned.
I said REENABLE.
Jump on their IRC.
Thanks for pointing out anon. I never really got into their earlier stuff, hence it missing from the collection (I don't tend to get discographies just for discographies' sake). I mean Homework is probably the least played DP album in my collection. It's probably a pleb-tier opinion, but I really love Discovery and Human After All. I appreciate the organic, funk sound of the early stuff (and RAM actually), but the more overtly electronic stuff is my favourite from them.
I was researching this the other day, and there seems to be no consensus on the best linux player. Look into Guayadeque and Banshee maybe? Sorry, I'm really a novice at linux stuff.
I also took audio engineering classes (but I suppose I falls more into a consumer tech argument, which we didn't learn a great deal about)
It's difficult to tell whether something is genuinely good and just a /g/ meme, but with that said I get (at least) negligible differences when using the Audigy anyway, like the system noise I can hear when I'm not listening to anything loud
Then as long as you have a different IP address go ahead and reapply I guess. Don't tell them you used to have an account though and obviously us a different name.
I'd prefer to take the what.cd interview than right that application desu, but I like music.
>tfw never get to take the interview again
>tfw the RPG is over
hold me senpai
what the fuck is wrong with PTP? slow as fuck. fails to load pages all the time.
When private tracker rules say you can't sell invites for "money", does that include virtual currency? Like currency in an online video game?
What about sexual favors? Like if a girl wants to get invited to WCD and offers to suck my dick, if I accept the blowjob will I get banned?
Then probably you shouldn't listen Alive 1997, it is more like Homework than their newer albums. Most likely you will not enjoy it. Also, it is kinda brainwash compared to Homework, probably because it's a live set.
You must get this:
Fun to watch, you will be suprised how much effort they invested into making their Homework videos.
Have you seen Interstella 5555?
I'll check it out, thanks. And yes, I have seen Interstellar 5555. Watched it years ago in my weeb days. If I remember correctly, it was pretty good, but the music was the actual highlight of the thing.
is it safe to store pirated content on Mega?
I don't plan to share it, I'm just running out of space and would like to make a few mega accounts and store some stuff i don't really access that much
who /cleaning up the streets/ here?
read the interview prep site
at the most, you need to remember
- lossy encoding removes some information from the file, lossless doesn't
- never transcode from lossy (interview question may include a conversion process that involves burning/ripping a CD which is technically fine encoding-wise, but not allowed on wcd itself)
- the targets/cutoffs for various bitrates of mp3 encodes (which are here http://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php?title=LAME#Technical_information as well as the interview prep site)
- allowed formats on wcd (no APE)
Not everyone can take the interview unfortunately. Also some people are trying to get back in after being banned and it's easier to fly under the radar through official recruitment than interviews.
Going for a second account, tried the interview but foolishly looked at my old account when I got in which they saw and banned me. I'm trying to work my way in through official recruitment now, but even if they somehow detect me again I'm moving to a new flat in a couple of months, will be on a different ISP, probably gonna get a new computer too. Basically I will get in within the next few months one way or another and they'll never find me again.
I remember when private trackers weren't so closed down. Invites used to not be frowned upon as much. As long as you could vouch for the person you could get them in.
Now you have to take two hour interviews and jump through hoops and shit.
The early to mid 2000s were the best time.
I don't want to give too many details because the cunt mods read these threads and I intend on not getting caught, but I had an invite trader above me in my tree on PTP, despite never trading invites myself, and a certain known cuck took issue with me defending myself and spitefully got me banned from all cabal trackers.
You went for another account when your first wasn't banned? Why lol, ratio watch?
But yeah even if you don't get a new PC, it isn't too hard to falsify a screenshot/browser agent, if you want to appear to use a different OS entirely (and I'm sure you know this, but don't link any other tracker profiles like a dolt)
Not him by the way, but I too got banned from what 3 years ago.
I bought an invite for 7$ from a stranger on some forum and I got banned a week later.
Now I'm gonna try to get back in through other trackers :)
>Be me in 2009
>Work at a gamestop
>Have a modded Wii
>Literally rip every single Wii game I could get my hands on
>Post about this on /v/
>Get a bitgamer invite just like that
>Upload as much as I can
>Ratio was god tier
>Only actually download hard to find wii games I wanted to complete my collection
>Bitgamer goes down
>HDD fails and I was only able to recover 60 or so games
No, I mean I had my first account banned (see >>52399067), and when I got back in I looked at the profile just because I wanted to reminisce I guess (2007 join date, was an OiNK refugee).
I wouldn't mind if I'd actually, y'know, done something wrong, but fuck 'em, no remorse any more, I'll break any rule if I can get away with it and leech as much as I can with minimal seeding and uploading.
Take this as a warning if you or anyone else is trying to get back in to any tracker you've been banned from: When you first join a tracker (doesn't matter how you join, be it official recruitment, interview, application, unofficial invite), mods are watching what you do. Even if you know the rules, just want to leech lots of shit, whatever, it doesn't matter, just for the first few weeks make sure you load all the rules and FAQ pages a few times, download some completely inconspicuous torrents (just download the new fucking Bieber album in v0 or some shit), lurk the forums but don't post, try to appear normie as possible, then after a few weeks you can relax and they're probably not watching you, but NEVER search anything remotely shady. Don't start searching for profiles of banned accounts or specific mods completely out of the blue or they'll know instantly who you are.
This is especially true at cabal trackers
Cabal is a relatively recent concept. Trackers used to stand alone as islands pretty much, but now most of the top tier ones have essentially banded together, almost like sister trackers, because they share stuff like banlists and help each other to run trackers.
I was in BTN pretty early on and it was pretty shit, it's amazing how they've come along since then.
How do you explain that I had my account for a few days and everything was fine, I looked at my old account's profile and bam, an hour later I'm banned. Went on IRC and they said they know who I am.
Maybe it was a fluke or whatever, I don't know, but do you really want to take that risk? Just assume it is true and you'll be safe, there isn't any harm in being careful.
They're generally some of the best in their categories but only What is the standout in its category. Movies, TV, books, general, etc, there are good, perhaps even better, non-cabal options than the cabal options.
My movies and other mdiea stay in place, not really moving around from device to device.
But my music collection is on my external HDD for my HTPC, my Laptop and my Phone.
How would you guys recommend me managing all three so they're the same across the board?
>Did you clear cache/cookies/history use a diff browser
It had been several months, I'd changed OS and everything in that time.
>have the same fingerprint/login from a similar/same IP?
I have left my modem unplugged so the IP changed.
>Forget to remove your torrents, download the same shit?
None of that either.
I'm not even bothered any more. I'm tired of playing cat and mouse with them though so I'm just gonna wait it out like I explained above.
Those 3 mainly. AHD and HDB also cooperate with them, probably more closely than most other trackers.
It's not. Cabal is specifically the group of "top-tier" trackers that are known to co-operate with each other. You can tell who is in cohorts by what official recruitment threads exist although this is not extensive in itself. Also AB is cabal which people often leave out, and GGn too.
>Also AB is cabal which people often leave out
Is AB really cabal?
I've always felt they were their own thing more than part of the cabal, though they are obviously friendly with the cabal.
AB has done a lot of custom work on the tracker backend (kotoko did work on Chihaya afterall), so I wouldn't be surprised if they help out some of the cabal with some technical stuff, but I didn't think they WERE cabal.
It's worries me that you fags can't discern these things for yourselves.
there, that's it, "the cabal." Big fuck you me having to explain memes.
Well, AHD is not top tier by any definition, but some anons still call it cabal, so you better think again before saying "it's not". Also, GGn is curry, even public russian gaming trackers have more content. I doubt you know what you're talking about, brother.
Also I forgot AHD somehow.
It fits all the definitions so I don't see why it's not.
You left some out.
OK, forget "top-tier", I thought putting it in speech marks would be enough to show that it's obviously an opinion based thing. The point I was making was that they are generally considered to be quality trackers with high standards, but of course some people will disagree. The main idea is that they are trackers that co-operate extensively with each other.
>The main idea is that they are trackers that co-operate extensively with each other
Cooperate how? By recruiting in forums? I'd say that's not enough. You as user can only see so much, how do you know about the higher level cooperation?
They share info of the banned users for an all-massive ban for cheaters and the like
Often talk with each other, and cooperate when "weird" things start happening [Like the bG/Other curry sites DB leaks, where a lot of users in AB, AHD, GGn, BTN and more got compromised]
Official recruitment is just something that low-end users can see. I can also give a list of trackers that I know share banlists which is another indicator, although this list is not extensive.
There's no known full list but we can make sensible inferences based on the facts.
It's not always obvious that the info is easy to find. Stop being a fucking faggot and at least tell people how they can find information even if you don't want to spoonfeed them. PTs will be better if there are more people like us in there rather than the cabal cocksuckers so just help out a little now and them.
I've got a ton, ie 700 gigs of /sci/ and /g/ stuff. Lots of old lectures, audio books, infographics, ebooks, etc.
Is this enough to get me into SciHD and then use that as a bridge into other private tracker?
i came to sciencehd, with literally nothing. just an interest documentaries. you don't need to be a scientist but, that totally helps. the sciencehd app is really there to help see if you have an actual interest in documentaries/science/ect.
you will totally get in and yes you can use it as a bridge into other private trackers. you need to be a user for 3 months and have 100GB uploaded.
This. SciHD is pretty cool, you don't have to be anything special just interested. The application just makes sure you are smart enough to complete it and are genuinely interested in their content.
Really if you can't fill out that application easily, you probably won't use the site anyways.
Last few years or so. It's impossible to say for sure exactly when tracker admins first started co-operating, but they've had a notable network since at least 2012 as far as I'm aware.
I wonder who could be behind this post
[06:26] <@Darhole> [23:24] <@SteveAllison> I never knew how many felt that TPS (A site that has bent ass backwards for many Comm Reps and helped find many traders/sellers in the past is now considered to be a pain to some for being here...) While I do not speak for TPS right now, I do speak for myself.... Before p2pg there was TPG...... And while I was Sysop at 2 sites and staffed TPG (before the db loss), many of you were merely entry level staff or less....
>tfw just sitting here browsing this thread and imagining 312c getting mad as hell reading about us discussing ban evasion
