Not sure what private trackers are all about?
The mission of /ptg/ is to promote the highest possible standards of tracker service by providing members with opportunities for professional development, by recognizing technical competence through examinations and by advancing the interests of its members.

Check out the wiki and update it yourself if you want more instead of complaining like a fucking faggot. https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/Private_trackers

>staff may pretend to be normal users asking for invites and when you invite them, they ban you for inviting strangers
>people may report emails and other personal info posted here to staff to get you banned.
>most of the invite offers here are people trolling you with false hope - begging for invites is a waste of time and you should just interview

That's a really nice OP image.

What are you guys doing/snatching tonight? My Fiio X1 and Xiaomi Hybrid's (I lost my clip+ and they're discontinued/crazy overpriced now and I need something for the gym) just so I'm downloading a few hundred albums from what then importing, tagging and transcoding them to vorbis q7 with beets. Feel good.

I'm also reading through UHD BD threads on HDB and a few other places to work out how long it might take to pwn the encryption/how trumping is going to work/which releases might be shit upscales.

Appreciate tune recommendations family.
>>
>>52396722
Is the encryption they have really that much more advanced than before?
>>
>>52396722
Will the downscaled UHD -> FHD still be able to trump current FHD encodes from Blurays? How does that work. Won't the encoders have to check whether it is bitstarved or if the UHD versions have their own problems separate from the Bluray releases? Interesting stuff.

Those looks like some nice earphones, and I've always fancied getting a Fiio player, how is the X1? I'm still using an old 120GB iPod Classic with Rockbox firmware. I've been meaning to upgrade the hardware for ages, but I find myself relying more and more on my phone+Plex to stream straight from my seedbox.

I don't know what sort of music you're into anon, but I'd recommend Kangding Ray - Cory Arcane if you want something IDM/techno-ish that'll really test/show off your headphones. Exceptional production, and pretty fun if you're into music that's a little experimental. If you let us know what you like I'll try and chime in with other reccs though.
>>
>>52396779

There have already been 10x more movies released in Blu-Ray than you could possibly watch in a lifetime. I wouldn't worry too much.

No you just didn't understand what I was saying. Situations where a movie doesn't look perfect but still keeps the person happy with the quality exist for normal, functioning members of society.

However, for people with autism (this is you), it can be hard to accept that not everything must be perfect all the time. And another hard thing for members of the autistic community to understand is how other people can enjoy things that they cannot, but hopefully as you grow and mature in life you'll beat the stigma!

I believe in you!

>>
>>52397314
Of course the experience changes. If a proper 1080p encode felt identical to a 144p stream, there wouldn't be any 1080p content.

It's not that I can't enjoy it. I just enjoy it less. Like, I can watch a screener of The Hateful Eight right now. I'd probably enjoy it.

Or, I could watch all of these: http://letterboxd.com/cinebro/list/they-shoot-pictures-dont-they-top-1000-films/, then watch a good encode of The Hateful Eight afterwards. I'd enjoy it in that case, too. A bit more because the video looks nicer. It's not like I don't have plenty of movies to watch in the meanwhile.

It doesn't matter how tiny the difference is. In the latter scenario, I always gain something while losing nothing.
>>
>>52397299
I haven't seen Spider (or 2) in time, but I definitely didn't rate them when I watched them first time around. I'm surprised there are 4k remasters of them too. I was under the impression that most of the early 2000 films were filmed digitally with the inferior cameras of the time. Might have to check.

Iron Man is good. I've got a little soft spot for capeshit, though the newer ones are wearing thin. (also redhead ScarJo in few hnngg.)
>>
>>52397429
>not everything must be perfect all the time.
That's not what I'm saying. If a movie was old and didn't exist in HD that'd be just fine, you take what you can get. But when you can literally just wait a few months to get it there why the fuck wouldn't you.
>>
>>52397452
Tbh only Iron Man, Batman, and Avengers are worth watching of the recent few.
>>
>>52397443
I'm not talking about 144p streams, I'm talking about a perfectly watchable 720x384 screener.

>>52397464

It doesn't matter what we're talking about, though. A 1080p encode will look nicer than a 720p encode, which will look nicer than a 480p encode, which will look nicer than a 144p encode.

The experience does change with quality. And while, yeah, you do get diminishing returns, you still get returns. So why not wait? What tangible benefit does watching a movie now give you?

>spoilers and discussion
If all my friends are excited to see a movie, we watch it together in a cinema.

Otherwise, we're not such dicks to each other we'd spoil it for each other or have a conversation where we're knowingly leaving someone out. Maybe get better friends?

I literally explained it to you. And no, the experience doesn't change with quality in my eyes, at least for 480p and above. And while you'll say, "Oh no! Not for me! My experience changes! ", please consider that the whole of your argument is literally 'stop liking what I don't like', down to the quality and this shite about 'muh frunds r gud hehehe so we dont spoil'. It's completely irrelevant because your experience is DIFFERENT than my own. I want to be able to discuss a movie online and shitpost about it the instant there is a screener available instead of having to have a media blackout because shit gets spoiled. (see Han is killed by Kylo Ren meme)

Figured this was the place to ask.

Stop assuming I "don't like" 480p encodes. I don't mind them. If there's no better quality available, sure I'll watch them. I just like higher quality more, and don't care if I have to wait a bit for it.

Clearly you do care about wanting to watch something now, which seems like completely backwards priorities to me, but... Whatever. You do you.

>they'll tell you whether it is ok or not.

>>
>>52397634
I'm not him but the only people that throw an utter shitfit about being spoiled are tumblr and leddit.

You can discuss whatever you want here and the worst you'll get is a warning for 'deliberately spoiling' people in the OP (once I got an image retroactively spoiled) but spoiler tags are easy to use so just use them (and just saying, I have them set to automatically display spoiled content so if you wanted to discuss something, the content would hardly interrupt any conversation.) And yes, most people do get spoiled if they wait, but so what? It's not like their decision is impacting on what you enjoy.

And yes, I rarely watch movies but when I want to watch something that I like I do I watch them in whatever quality I can get my hands on, regardless of what quality it is. For releases that are less urgent, I just pick and choose the best.

Some people do one thing, others do other things. And they're both equally legitimate.

It'll depend on your 'workflow' for listening to music, on how you should tackle organising library. I'll briefly explain mine below, to show you how I organise mine (about 200GB of V0s at the moment). Hopefully you find my example helpful.

I use Foobar2000 on Windows. See the pic, but I use a pretty basic interface which focuses on finding the music I want to listen to, then just displaying it as playlist+album art. I download all my music from WCD to my seedbox, and sync that folder (I use BitTorrent Sync), to the WCD folder in my library. I can then listen to new music in Foobar with minimal effort (most stuff is tagged sufficiently for a first/second/third/preliminary listen). If it's something I really enjoyed I then copy it to my 'Main' library, where I manually alter tags, add art, put in my preferred folder structure etc. I use the freedb and discogs plugins to help with the tagging, but I check and edit everything that gets a place in the main library.

This workflow has a few benefits. My Main library is a properly curated selection of music I know I like. Adding an album at a time after I've established I like it means that it's always properly organised and won't be bloated with things I've never listened to. Having a separate library for downloads means that new stuff doesn't need to be excessively organised at the time of download, and all my new music is sitting in one place ready to access. The negative is that you need to keep a local copy of your seedbox files, but this shouldn't be a problem for most.

The extra libraries you seen in my screenshot are just older, unsorted stuff. I also keep separate libraries for podcasts, mix CDs,etc.

Generally your workflow will be based on how you listen to music. If you don't want to have a core library of stuff that you know you want to keep, and just download loads of new shit to listen to and then chuck away all the time then my method won't work for you.
>>
>>52397931

My workflow for music is really simple.

>Listen to music on youtube/whatever shit I'm using at the time
>Fire up soulseek, grab that shit
>Throw it in Picard, it's now tagged, sorted into my music folder

Simple as that. I almost ever torrent music unless I'm grabbing a Discography. I don't care if my music folder is bloated as shit.
>>
>>52396570
comfy pic
>>
>>52397948
Start a separate library, and curate it properly with music you listen to regularly. Keep the bloat separate and ready for when you want new music to listen to.

Thanks for pointing out anon. I never really got into their earlier stuff, hence it missing from the collection (I don't tend to get discographies just for discographies' sake). I mean Homework is probably the least played DP album in my collection. It's probably a pleb-tier opinion, but I really love Discovery and Human After All. read the interview prep site
at the most, you need to remember
- lossy encoding removes some information from the file, lossless doesn't
- never transcode from lossy (interview question may include a conversion process that involves burning/ripping a CD which is technically fine encoding-wise, but not allowed on wcd itself)
- the targets/cutoffs for various bitrates of mp3 encodes (which are here http://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php?title=LAME#Technical_information as well as the interview prep site)
- allowed formats on wcd (no APE)

I remember when private trackers weren't so closed down. Invites used to not be frowned upon as much. As long as you could vouch for the person you could get them in.

Take this as a warning if you or anyone else is trying to get back in to any tracker you've been banned from: When you first join a tracker (doesn't matter how you join, be it official recruitment, interview, application, unofficial invite), mods are watching what you do. Even if you know the rules, just want to leech lots of shit, whatever, it doesn't matter, just for the first few weeks make sure you load all the rules and FAQ pages a few times, download some completely inconspicuous torrents (just download the new fucking Bieber album in v0 or some shit), lurk the forums but don't post, try to appear normie as possible, then after a few weeks you can relax and they're probably not watching you, but NEVER search anything remotely shady. Don't start searching for profiles of banned accounts or specific mods completely out of the blue or they'll know instantly who you are.

This is especially true at cabal trackers

Cabal is a relatively recent concept. Trackers used to stand alone as islands pretty much, but now most of the top tier ones have essentially banded together, almost like sister trackers, because they share stuff like banlists and help each other to run trackers.

I was in BTN pretty early on and it was pretty shit, it's amazing how they've come along since then.
>>
>>52399230
BTN is now one of the cabal trackers.

>>52399234

Maybe it was a fluke or whatever, I don't know, but do you really want to take that risk? Just assume it is true and you'll be safe, there isn't any harm in being careful.

I've always felt they were their own thing more than part of the cabal, though they are obviously friendly with the cabal.

AB has done a lot of custom work on the tracker backend (kotoko did work on Chihaya afterall), so I wouldn't be surprised if they help out some of the cabal with some technical stuff, but I didn't think they WERE cabal.

I just found out my old comic torrent site ComicBT has a new URL? But I can not seem to find the new URL. Can someone hint me the adress?
>>
>>52399672

Why would anybody waste money registering that domain just for that? kek though.

What do you think was specifically a waste of money about it...?
>>
>>52399739

Are you saying it's not? It's good for a small chuckle and that's it, how will it be used in future?
>>
Is there a better.php for AB?
>>
>>52399832
No, you have to manually hunt.

Still super easy to get uploads though.
>>

thanks, I couldn't remember the URL.
>>
>>52399895
Because I dont want to make it even easier on new fags who dont even bother to look for themselves?

Why are you spoonfeeding retards?
>>
>>52399913

It's not always obvious that the info is easy to find. Stop being a fucking faggot and at least tell people how they can find information even if you don't want to spoonfeed them. PTs will be better if there are more people like us in there rather than the cabal cocksuckers so just help out a little now and them.

I've got a ton, ie 700 gigs of /sci/ and /g/ stuff. Lots of old lectures, audio books, infographics, ebooks, etc.

Is this enough to get me into SciHD and then use that as a bridge into other private tracker?
>>
>>52400095
i came to sciencehd, with literally nothing. just an interest documentaries. you don't need to be a scientist but, that totally helps. the sciencehd app is really there to help see if you have an actual interest in documentaries/science/ect.
you will totally get in and yes you can use it as a bridge into other private trackers. you need to be a user for 3 months and have 100GB uploaded.

>>52400209
This. SciHD is pretty cool, you don't have to be anything special just interested. The application just makes sure you are smart enough to complete it and are genuinely interested in their content.

Really if you can't fill out that application easily, you probably won't use the site anyways.

>Cabal is a relatively recent concept
What's 'relatively' recent'? P2PG has been around for nearly 9 years
>>
>>52399913
I just lost the URL and couldn't find it on the wiki.

>>
>>52400426

Last few years or so. It's impossible to say for sure exactly when tracker admins first started co-operating, but they've had a notable network since at least 2012 as far as I'm aware.

[06:26] <@Darhole> [23:24] <@SteveAllison> I never knew how many felt that TPS (A site that has bent ass backwards for many Comm Reps and helped find many traders/sellers in the past is now considered to be a pain to some for being here...) While I do not speak for TPS right now, I do speak for myself.... Before p2pg there was TPG...... And while I was Sysop at 2 sites and staffed TPG (before the db loss), many of you were merely entry level staff or less....
