Picked up one of these for $70
The fuck goes through peoples minds when they buy $1000+ crapples for fuckin' schoolwork?
Boggles my damn mind
They have rich parents, and they don't think in much abstraction for the future, neither for their own or their beloved ones. This leads to happiness in short term, and chance of utter sadness in the long term, however most of those people are not autists and they don't use the machines as much, rather they just use facebook on their phone, or even better yet, their tablet.
We call them consumers, they are the modern age equivalent of middleage village people that work 24/7 and pay their taxes to the king, and when they have little free time or some extra cash, they spend it on the spot.
Macs show real advantages for anyone that is not blind. No one will enjoy staring at some piece of shit TN screen from 2004 when a rMBP or any other modern laptop will look way better.
I mean you have a god-tier keyboard, but that screen really needs to be replaced.Owning used goods is always iffy, what if someone came on your laptop? You wouldn't know. My X220 has been awfully creaky lately despite still looking fine.
You think they're only used for studying because you've only SEEN them studying. If instead you made friends with someone instead of bitching about them on 4chan, you might get some real insight
Hahahaha you done good anon. Don't listen to the haterz... They're just jealous since they just shilled out $1000+ on their crummy MacBooks or gaming laptops and are desperate to console themselves they didn't mess up.
I got the same thing (T60?) thinking the same. Why do poor students waste a load of money on crapple laptops when a thinkpad running arch is just as quick for writing down notes.
>The fuck goes through peoples minds when they buy $1000+ crapples for fuckin' schoolwork?
>All my classmates will be so impressed, this will certainly raise my popularity.
Also advertising buzzwords, you see it here too. RETINA DISPLAYS! Despite the fact that retina means nothing. BUT DID U GET THE RMBP??¿ A lot of people get taken in by advertising.
> retina means nothing
Well, it's a marketing term. It does have a meaning, which is something along the lines of "a typical user won't be able to discern individual pixels from a typical viewing distance for this class of device."
Retina is just Appleified HiDPI
Well, some people do not want to lug aging technology that weights like 5 dead cats around and, mind you, that's the important part, have actual work to do that requires a bit more horse power.
most normals just want a fashion accessory
They don't really even know what a computer. For them it's just a shiny toy and a way to consume media. They don't really do anything that requires a computer anyway
>used x220 on ebay
>need hdd and ram
wham bam thank you mam, a much better use of money
or if you already have a HDD and ram lying around like any respectable /g/entooman then you could have a much better machine for the price of a movie ticket and snacks
got a thinkpad t420 with 6 gigs of ram and a 7 cell battery for $140 off craigslist. first thinkpad ive ever owned. feels quite comfy. all i need to do is swap out the 2gb ram for another 4gb, and throw in a ssd, and possibly get a dock for work.
W500's are really heavy.
That feel when you're trying a PS4 game in Bestbuy and some kid in 4th grade stands to the side, watches for 2 minutes, and then starts giving you advice.
uhh I have two t60s somewhere and I used multiple different thinkpads for years. Now after seeing this thread I thought maybe I'd look around on ebay if I'd switch my surface pro 2 for some lenovo's laptop, but why the fuck do they have 1366*768 screens? Even cheap pavilions from 2005 have better resolutions available!
