Looking through the for sale Computer section I found this beauty.
Cop or not
looks like a shitbox keyboard probably paired with a late '90s/early '00s dimension
having a PS/2 port doesn't mean it's a mechanical placebo, but if you just like the look or something and would use it then go for it
why the fuck is /g/ full of /v/ babbies today
I think I hit the motherload.
All I need to do is bust some holes in this baby so people can see my dope LED's
Does anyone have any experience buying a graphics card from Craiglist?
I've bought other stuff, but never pc components.
Is there stuff I should look out for?
It's listed as used - like new, and when I asked why he's selling he just said he doesn't really need it anymore.
It looks like a good deal and I'd rather drop the $160 for the instead of $200 for it new because I'm somewhat of a poorfag, but any suggestions on what to look for would be great
>$40 price difference
If you buy the Craigslist card (that you know nothing about) and it breaks, you have no recourse.
If you buy a brand new card and it breaks, you have a warranty.
>It's listed as used - like new
fuck who ever says this, used is used
I bought a 390 from crabslist with no regrets. Just have the guy show it working and running a bench if you're worried. Ask questions and feel them out.
That's true. Well I just re-checked, and the one on craiglist is a gtx 960 4gb, but I was looking at the gtx 960 2gb, and a 4gb is ~$230 new, so it would be closer to a $70 difference.
Fuck my poorfag life.
How are Corsair keyboards?
This is going for $60. Right now I just have some old rubber dome keyboard that does me fine, but I was wondering if this is a good deal?
Fuck, you're right. I'm getting ahead of myself. I took last semester off of work for class and I've just started working again and I'm getting all eager since I've got money coming in again.
I always think of money spent in terms of hours worked to earn it. It helps put things in perspective. Still, sometimes I end up buying shit that I regret anyway.
The other guy is right about checking out the card though. It could be worth a shot if the guy is willing to show you that it works right.
Anyway there sure are some sick deals in my neck of the woods.
Also, if I do end up buying new, what are the main differences between these? Anything huge?
Quality of cooler and stock clock/overclock.
Generally, higher price means better something, usually more/bigger fans or better factory overclock, but maybe also features.
But I can't imagine a better 960 getting you that much more performance for that price range.
Holy fucking shit that caught me off guard
>absolutely no specs provided
It's probably got a GTX 760 in it
Alright. The only problem I can think of is that if possible I'd like to see if it at least works, but I'm not sure if that would be possible since it's not installed or anything
Kind of unrelated but once I accidentally mounted my CPU cooler upside down so it blasted hot air into the back of the GPU. I didn't realise for a little while. Not my proudest moment.
honestly sort of curious if this is a good deal. it's been up for months now.
that might very well be the ugliest "custom" hood and front I've ever seen
it's like a 4 year old bashed that shit with a wooden hammer
the teeth look like they are made from foam
and are the eyes really lights?
I can't believe this shit is allowed on the roads, let alone that someone would dare to ask €4000+ for it
that's a very good price.
you can just unscrew the keyboard, take off keys, give it a good cleaning. nothing will happen to it.
I would buy it in a heartbeat.
But do make sure it works alright...
I actually bought an R9 270x off CL for $100 flat.
I met the guy in person. He was a very sharply dressed person, we met after his work (I'm a college kid). He said he decided not to crossfire anymore and so he's selling the board.
By the way /g/, here is a heads up warning.
I bought a T500 years ago, and I got scammed a big time.
Maybe my story will help you NOT to get scammed.
> Found ad on a trusted (!) used hardware selling site
> Guy even had positive reputation, which meant a lot there
> T500 for a reasonable price
So I contacted him.
First red flag:
> My friend will bring the laptop because he is going to Germany, and he can drop it off while he is on his way
The guy arrived, he looked normal, etc.
I have downloaded some burn in tests, 3D mark, etc.
Ran all the tests. Connected to wifi. Ran prime95.
Everything worked. I had WIFI, I had 3D, both cards worked.
So we pay the guy, he leaves.
It was late, so next day I wanted to 'play' with my new laptop.
> switch to the discrete card, no output
> plug a display to it with VGA, screen is all garbled, like GPU is fried, switch to Integrated
> wifi won't connect
> take apart laptop, the wifi cables are fried (this shit - I never figured out how they managed that)
The serial came back clean from Lenovo, that was my biggest luck.
Took it to the repair center.
+ They paid for a new motherboard, for the new wifi module
- I had to pay for the new wifi 'cables' and repair hours
Overall the laptop was ~720 USD.
The repairs cost me ~110 USD.
In the end I had a used T500 for ~830 USD.
I still considered myself lucky, the laptop was like ~2000$ in my country at the time.
But yes, they did intend to scam me big time, and they almost succeeded.
Still don't know if the laptop was stolen or something, but it still works.
So, yeah, be careful fellas.
>I can't believe this shit is allowed on the roads
It absolutely wouldn't be. Having headlights mounted that high is definitely not legal, you'd get pulled over in a hot second if you passed a non-retarded cop.
>btw the 8800 GTX is a fucking beast.
it's not only weak as fuck, it's a powerhungry pile of crap AND it's literally the last nvidia-card to not support h264-hw-decoding.
unless you use it as an inefficient radiator, it's crap.
I'll up you one and say I'm building a computer entirely from free parts.
CUrrently have a Radeon 6970, 8GB DDR3, 1TB HDD, 120GB SSD, EVGA Hadron Air w/500w PSU. just need the mobo and CPU
Depending on where you are, you can get a used 7950 for only a little more.
I've seen them go for 90 dollars on American amazon and 120 dollars on gumtree.
90 usd and 120 aud btw.
What the fuck is this shit?
Yes but is your house a computer?
The issue here is the birdhouse is literally chopped up circuitboards, likely with lead solder and sharp pins still lining the inside, making it pretty damn unsafe
