Valve has pissed me off to no end with how finicky srcds has gotten. What used to be a fairly simple process turned in a clusterfuck that barely works. After not having touched it for a while, I needed to host some maps for CS:GO and decided to throw up a server.

Ports are forwarded properly, other services work (SSH, Mumble, webserver, Minecraft, etc.), srcds shows up as listening under netstat, and I can connect through LAN.

However, connecting over the internet doesn't work (quits after 30 retries). What the fuck is happening?

I need to replace this drive, but this fucking file is preventing me from doing that. I (stupidly) installed windows with every one of my drives plugged, now I have this .dll file stuck on this drive.

If I remove the drive, I get a "windows failed to start due to hardware change" black screen.

I’m on Debian Jessie with fluxbox 1.3.5 as WM and have xrandr 1.4.2 installed. My laptop has a 1280x800 monitor and the external monitor has a resolution of 1280x1024. I’d like to setup X such that each monitor (or `output´) shows an image with a resolution of 1024x768 (without scaling to physical size) and that together they form one continuous screen with a resolution of 2048x768; by continuous I mean that by maximizing an application window it should span across both monitors (each of them showing one half of the window).

When playing games my i5 3570k CPU (stock clock at 3.4 and stock cooled) goes up to 100% while my 280x stays at right about 50.

My CPU will eventually overheat and the PC reastarts.

eBay said the GPU was 850 MHz, but MSI Afterburner says 1000.

I recently built a new computer and tried to install windows 7 on it. As I don't have an optical drive, what I did is boot under linux, create a virtual machine that does HDD passthrough with the drive I wanted to install windows on and install windows. It went fairly well but when I try to reboot natively under windows my peripherals (mouse, keyboard) do not work, thus I can't install my drivers. I tried to install some of the drivers using the virtualbox method I just explained but to no avail. Does anybody have a solution in mind ?

When you guys are talking about encrypting files before sending it to Dropbox, are you encrypting each file or do you have a big folder that you have to re-upload each time you save something inside it?

I'm looking for a program that encrypts each file, does AES Crypt do that? Or are you just using a truecrypt container or something?

When playing /some/ system-intensive games, my PC tends to shut down either mid-game, or ~ an hour after I'm done gaming. After it has shutdown it won't boot back up again unless I either turn the PSU on/off several times, or wait several hours.

Second problem is that when I turn off the PC, but I don't disconnect the power socket from the wall, it will randomly turn on again a few hours later but the PC will fail to boot. After this happens the clock displays the time at which the PC turned on, but failed to boot.

I'm 80% sure it's a PSU issue, but are there any other possibilities?

My laptop freezes completely if the screen is moved enough while in use. By enough I mean even accidental movement. A hard reset is required to use it again.

If the screen stays on, its likely nothing with the screen. Can confirm, if you remove the HDD even for a split second the PC will hard lock and the screen will stay on. I can't see moving the screen doing this unless the chassis itself is bending slightly when the screen moves causing a disconnect somewhere.

Only other thing I can think of is maybe something is making metal to metal contact when the screen moves and its causing it to lock up? Would be a long shot.

I installed the radeon r5 220 1gb graphics card.
It booted up fine and displayed a little under full resolution but after a subsequent reboot it displayed horrid vetical red and blue lines. Finally after a third reboot it failed to display at all.

So i tried using KMSAuto but after the activation process was done i got a window saying "The program was unable to activate the product in Automatic Mode - Try to force the GVLK key for your product version in system tab and repeat the activation process".

By the way, I found a way to do what I wanted, but I never found the original solution to my original problem, so my solution only works for programs that behave the way the one I'm trying to record does, and is not an all-compassing solution for all program resolutions smaller than the native res of one's monitor, unfortunately.

Once you start recording, right click your "monitor capture" under your "source", which is under your "scene" in the main OBS screen- the very one you see when you first open the program-, and under "position/size", click "center". This will center your recording instead of having it record the top left of your screen when you record in a smaller res than your monitor. This setting stays and doesn't reset to default even after you stop recording. This will only solve your problem if your program opens in the very middle of the screen....

Density is higher when the HDD has higher storage capacity, so yeah failure happens when the drive is physically damaged, either by the climate (cold/hot weather and humidity) or human mistakes (dropped it, etc) and higher density means it will be more easily affected by such things.

Personally I'd avoid any 3TB HDD and any multiple of 3 (including 6TB). Afaik they're the most subject to failures on the market.
