I was thinking about getting the Sony M4 Aqua 16 GB but I've just found out that the Xiaomi Redmi 3 is going to be released next week, it seems to have similar specs with a fucking 4100 mAh battery for only 150$.

What would you guys recommend?
>>
>>52346300
By the way, the M4 would cost about 200$.
>>
Pretty torn between getting a 6P now, or waiting for the snapdragon 820 phones. In particular the next HTC (M10?). 6P is already awesome but i'm afraid the m10, s7 and z6 will blow it out of the water speed and battery wise. Dunno what to do :(
>>
Hello! I'm looking to get a sony xperia Z2, but the only link I can find with a decent price is on Amazon

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J99NFZK?keywords=z2&qid=1452442383&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1

This link seems sketchy as it's a bunch of home-made pictures, which leads me to believe the phone is used. Also, I'd like to use my phone in the shower. Would the Z2 be a good option? Some people report problems with water getting in the camera.
>>
What's the best i can get under €350?
I was looking at the OnePlus X but i'm kinda meh about the battery.
Can you advice anything that can be rooted and is good under that price?
>>
>>52346300
M4 has a lot of shitty bloat, expect to have problems with internal storage. Xiaomi doesnt support a lot of 4G bands mostly used in US/Europe.
>>52347385
New models will always beat previous ones spec wise. Wait for new flagships, and get 6P when it's price will drop, it's not worth to wait for "latest and greatest".
>>
>>52347694
I'm currently using X Play, similar price, its not a beast, but has a god-tier battery.
You can look at 2014 flagships, ex. LG G3 is dead cheap now.
>>
Should I get a nexus 6 or a 5x?
>>
>>52347740
>Xiaomi doesnt support a lot of 4G bands mostly used in US/Europe.
Oh fuck, that's bad.
>M4 has a lot of shitty bloat, expect to have problems with internal storage
I'll probably install a custom ROM as soon as it's beginning to be annoying on that side anyway, I did the same for my SP. What kind of problems though?
Thanks for the input lad
>>
>>52347385
snapdragon 810 is shit and the 6P bends more easily than the iPhone 6, plus the screen is apparently ultra scratch prone compared to most phones

basically it's just cheap chinese shit

What do you consider good battery? I'm getting 4.5-5 SoT with texting, funposting, and light gaming. I could get a bit more if I turned on powersaving mode.
>>
I'm looking for a new phone, since I'm still using my shitty samsung gio from god knows how many years ago and the thing just won't die. It needs to be able to do the following, in order of descending importance: Send texts, receive calls, play videos, show my weeb comics, play music somewhat decently through headphones (the phone speaker won't ever be used for this.). It needs to do this during my 2-2.5 hour commute and then sporadically throughout the day. I'm estimating 3 hours of actual use and about 12 hours between charges.

My budget is around 200 euro. I know next to nothing about smartphones specifically. I could get a iphone 4s for 110 euro right now, but I'm not sure I want an apple/a phone that's that old. I'm open to chinese phones as well so long as they aren't shit.
>>
>>52348195

What's better between

>Intel Z3580 and 4GB of RAM
?
>>
>>52348331
try looking up a phone with each

truthfully though, a phone measured by it's SoC alone, otherwise the Galaxy S6 is the best android phone out
>>
Purchase Sony z3 compact for cheap or wait for z6? Coming from z2, too large.
>>
>>52348349
I'm looking at both Asus Zenfone 2 with those specs though. They're pretty much the same outside of that, and I don't really know which is better.
>>
Is there a site or a place I can get my moto g 2014's screen replaced?
>>
>>52348349
should have said a phone isn't measured by its SoC*
>>
>>52348365
I didn't realize the Snapdragon 615 is a mid-range shitter, the Intel SoC is likely better.

Intel doesn't usually match up well to the top-end Qualcomm SoCs though in terms of GPU performance.
>>
Hey, /g/, I have just 2 quick questions:

From a not-so-poor-anymore-fags perspective, does an expensive phone (let us say 400€) really offer a higher return of investment compared to a cheaper phone (200€)?
And what would you recommend a European for both price ranges?
>>
>>52348356
I own both the Z3 and Z3C, I like the Z3C a lot more due to its size. Ever since both devices got updated to Lollipop neither has come close to really needing 2GB of RAM so memory isn't an issue.

I wouldn't expect Sony to make a Z6 compact based on their release history. There's a decent chance they may not even make a Z6 given the Z5 was a monumental failure and they've talked about abandoning the smart phone market for awhile.
>>
>>52348433
>does an expensive phone (let us say 400€) really offer a higher return of investment compared to a cheaper phone
Depends, do you use your phone a lot? If yes, I'd say spend the extra money on a flagship device. Build quality is generally better and the performance and displays are almost always drastically better.
>>
Sony Xperia Z5 or Samsung Galaxy S6?

Unfortunately the LG V10 and 64GB version of the Nexus 6P arent available in my shitty country.

>>
>>52348666
Z5 has a slightly better camera and a better fingerprint scanner but unfortunately the volume rocker is in a bad place and Snapdragon 810 sucks. It's responsible for the battery life on the Z5 being noticeably worse than the Z3.
>>
are there any good alternatives to android or ios? are the canonical phones shit? are those european shellfish phones shit?
>>
>>52348843
>are there any good alternatives to android or ios?
not really, WP10 could end up being a good alternative but I wouldn't count on it
>>
>>52348825
Worse than the Z3? I heard the Z£ wasnt evactly stellar itself?
>>
>>52348900
the Z3 was great when it launched because it had fantastic battery life and pretty high-end specs when it released.

Unfortunately the Z5 doesn't have near the battery life of the Z3, it's thicker, and the SoC throttles because the Snapdragon 810 sucks.

The big improvements are the camera, which is currently the best on a smartphone according to DxOmark and the fingerprint scanner, which is integrated into the power button on the side. Only real problem with this is that it prompted Sony to put the power button and volume rocker way too low on the phone making it awkward to use.
>>
>>52348752
that one costs a good 230-250 euro where I live though, so it's a bit over my budget. Isn't there a lower priced phone that isn't terrible? I'm basically going to use it as a video player/glorified mp3 player to pass time on my commute, so I'm not expecting super high end performance or anything. .
>>
>>52349010
Can you root it? Dont think I'd like to give up my quality of life root only shit.
>>
>>52349034
You should probably look into Xiaomi Redmi stuff (you'll have to root them though) or Huawei then
>>
>>52349087
I'm sure you can but if the Z5 is like the Z3 you lose some of the camera features because Sony has some DRM bullshit on their image processing
>>
>>52349034
if you can save a bit more, it really is worth it.

otherwise, maybe a samsung s4 (not sure on price), or the bq aquaris m4.5. or look at microsoft lumias - but windows phone still lacks a bit.
>>
>>52349112
Any reccomendations of which xiaomi and huawei phones are good? Also, how hard is it to root something and why would it I do that exactly? I've put cfw on a wii and my 3ds and psp before, is it similar?

>>52349158
I'll keep it in consideration, I just don't really want to spend a lot of money on something I'll only use a few times a week. Once I'm home I usually just put my phone in the charger and don't touch it until I leave the house again. What's the problem with windows phones?
>>

it would help to know your country, so i can look around to see if there is anything better.

>>
so i bought a 6p and i fucking hate it. it bent once but i bent it back mostly

how could i recoup most of my losses on this? do you think the apple store would take it if i traded it in for an iphone? or would i do better to try and sell it myself?
>>

I want to flash Cyanogen on my Galaxy S5. What are the disadvantages of tripping KNOX?

>>
I'm trying to flash the regular Cyanogen Mod on my OPO as opposed to the Cyanogen S bullshit that it comes with by default (especially now that they're pushing that Microsoft/Cortana update). I'm following Heisenberg's directions from the XDA post.

I'm up to the part where I'm supposed to run the command in the prompt that's supposed to show connected devices and it's supposed to show my phone. But when I run it nothing comes up.

Yes, I've turned on developer options in the phone. And yes, I installed the universal driver. Any suggestions?

Note 4 snapdragon or exynos?
>>
My current phone is a sub 150 euro samsung that I bought like 4 or 5 years ago. Its battery is going so I'm looking to replace it. As you can probably guess, I never really did much with it since it's too shitty to run any kind of app or browse the net with any kind of decent speed. Still, It did what I wanted from a phone so I'm looking to get something new in the same price range. Currently I can get an iphone 4s for about 150 euro, get a lumia 550 for 130 or a redmi note 2 for 120-125. Are any of these options decent or should I look at other phones. I'll use it to send texts and watch videos on the train, not much more. The iphone/android could have some neat apps I suppose, but then again I haven't used any apps these past four years and I don't feel like I missed out terribly. Suggestions?
>>
>>52350550
are you running as admin? try a reboot.
>>
>>52350600
Im in the same situation, feels like lumia would get the best support moving forward. I care about battery so iphone 4s has me worried there. Redmi has the best specs but I don't know much about the brand.
>>
>>52350654
Yeah, I was thinking the 4s could be nice, maybe jailbreak it and get lots of neat apps to play with. Since I do like a good puzzle game now and then. But the no microsd slot has me worried most, along with the battery. I need my phone to last at least 2 hours intensive use + around 8 more hours of screen off+texting.
>>
>>52350812
>>52350654
4s has a horrible battery life. especially if you update it to later OS's
Personally, I'm waiting for the Redmi 3, as mentioned above in the thread. Amazing battery life, and pretty good hardware for the price
>>

I'm pretty sure I'm running as admin. It's the one account on the computer so I imagine it's admin by default. If I shift+right click to open command prompt does it open as admin by default or do I have to right click the icon and run it as admin then?

It should be 6P vs 5X, the Nexus 6 is a complete piece of shit

How easy it is to get phone replaced for sruck pixels? I have warranty left.

I'm having doubts when it comes to buying a phone. I've never gotten a smartphone and I don't want to spend too much, 350€ is my current budget.

I'm trying to pick between an LG G3 and an Asus Zenfone 2 and I got a couple of questions.

Is the Zenfone really a memephone?

Is the G3 overheating problem fixed?

How are the battery lives for both if I want to listen to music a lot?
Any way to extend them if they don't last for long?

Can I pirate emulators onto them to play my pokeymans and gayrpgs?
>>
>>52353994
>Is the Zenfone really a memephone?
Yes.
>Is the G3 overheating problem fixed?
No.
>How are the battery lives for both if I want to listen to music a lot?
Battery life sucks on both, but G3 has removable battery. Motorola phones are the battery life kings atm, Moto X Play and Moto G3rdgen.
>Any way to extend them if they don't last for long?
Airplane mode?
>Can I pirate emulators onto them to play my pokeymans and gayrpgs?
Sure, there just aren't many that support your freedoms though. Most of them are paid too but I guess if you pirate, then it doesn't matter.
>>
>>52354312
How hard does it suck? Will I be able to listen to music on my headphones for 6 hours or so?
>>
>>52348209
Moto g 3rd gen. You don't want an iPhone that old. Great battery life and much better dac than previous Motos.
>>
Opinions on the OnePlus X? What's the battery like? I need something that will last at least 1 day with texting once in a while and browsing
>>
>>52354708
a moto 3rd gen does cost a solid 250euro where I live though, when I factor in shipping. That's just a bit more than I was looking to spend. I've heard some good stuff about the BLU life one X, but I can't seem to find it anywhere in europe
>>
>>52354891
5 to 5 1/2 SoT with heavy shitposting and web browsing throughout the day. I get through a heavy day with 15% left. Marshmallow will increase this, or once Sultan ports his ROM.

Build quality for price of phone is out of this world but it picks up finger prints (and scratches, although I don't use a case or screen protector) easily, handles multitasking just fine.

Overall I'm happy for what I paid.
>>
How is the lumia 550 for a csual user who isn't interested in social apps? It's dirt cheap, I can get it cheaper than even a redmi note 2 over here. So since I don't really trust those chinese phones it seems like a nice alternative.
>>
Dear Anon, I need band 12 on Tmobile, and my only real options are 6p, 5x and Moto X Pure. I'm leaning towards the Moto X, but is it a dead phone now that Motorola is gone. Should I just wait for this year's phones to be announced?

Motorola isn't gone, they're just dropping the branding name from packaging and advertising. They're staying with just Moto.

No, they're not dead.

Do you guys use any SMS replacements? Just got an S4 and dislike how outdated it looks. Looks like a third-party email app.

I'm looking for a phone in a price range of Huawei P8. I won't say the dollar amount, cause I don't know prices in USA. Anything better than P8? I must have: 3.5mm jack, SD card slot. I've noticed the CPU in P8 (eight A53, four with 1.5Ghz, four 2GHz) is a bit slower than some others with similar prices (e.g. those with Snapdragon 810). does this make a lot of difference. Performance-wise I'd only like to be able to play PS1 games (including those hard to emulate like Tekken 3).
>>
>>52355759
Shipping and they have preorders that are delivered on first-come basis. So basically the first shipment is accounted for when the retailers only receive ~2,000 thousand units each. Then you wait weeks for the next wave, and then a month plus for shipping and delivery.

Windows Phones are quite nice, but WP 10 is not ready yet, and should have spent another 3-6 months in development, so try an 8.1 phone. Unlike Android, the budget options are quite nice to use, the only real flaws are the shit camera, lack of flash in the lowest models, and the sub 720p screen making some websites not work 100% (this is very very rare, but when it does happen it's very frustrating)
>>

8.1 solid as a bunker.

>>
>>52363944
I've personally can't fault it in any way. Despite having the S810, it's ran consistently cooler than any phone I've had before and the battery life is fairly decent. The screen is great once you turn on sRGB, the size is hardly daunting. The only negative is the price, which is a little bit much for what it is, in my opinion - but most phones are nowadays anyway.
>>
>>52363944
I waffled between the Note5 and 6P. Had the 6P for a week and just wasn't too impressed.

Got the Note5 and been enjoying it a lot. I also go the GearVR for VR porn, so that certainly helps the coolness factor for me anyway.

Ibuygou or spemall are very good.
>>

spemall has it up for 130 euro with free shipping. Somehow this seems like too good a deal, since that ibuygou site has it for 145 and it's only a preorder. How trustworthy are these sites? I'm a bit paranoid about this.
>>

Thanks for commenting on that. I'll still use a cover case to protect it and clean it everytime i get home so it's not an issue for me. I might actually buy this

I am thinking about OnePlus X and LG G Flex 2 (sadly only the 2GB option is available to me).

I plan to stick with it for the next couple of years. Which one do you think is better? Thanks.
>>
>>52367534
I don't know, I've read some bad reviews. It's hard to really get a good look from those review sites though, since the good reviews could be shills and the bad reviews could just be trolls/whiny bitches. I've also read a few things about people getting malware installed ont heir device when buying them from spemall. Ibuygou has pretty decent reviews across the board though, so I might go with that.
>>
>>52367830
I personally ordered on ibuygou a few times and it was perfect so I'd also go with that anyway

I'm not sure what to here. The new redmi 3 seems pretty dope for the price, 2gb of ram and what seems to me like a decent screen and processor. But I'm not sure wether buying a chinese phone can give me a lot of problems in terms of software or not. I don't know an awful lot about smartphones, but the moto g 3rd gen that someone also recccomended me looks pretty similar and it costs 100 euro more over here. Yeah, I posted Moto G as a ref before I'd seen you say you were in Belgium. I'd still recommend saving up for it if possible, or just grabbing a cheap Moto E from 2015 and adding an ad card. Those blu phones always look great but are never rootable it seems, although they are getting good about updating them. I think they're really just rebranded Chinese phones though. My mother and I want to get new phones. So far I've been a Samsung fan since the note came out(I like to draw, doodle and shit). We both have note 3 phones and I want to move towards the iphone 6s plus. I really haven't used android to its full potential and I want to see how apple phones are.

So far my phone has been glitching like a bitch lately(I don't root, mod or download anything outside the playstore) and for an unknown reason it factory reset itself in my pocket while I was working, deleting everything.

So I really not sure about the iphone. Between the 6s plus and the note 5, I can do either. I just need to get a new phone. I paid our phone bills this past week and it feels like it could go towards better phones.

Thoughts?
