ARE YOU READY FOR A NEW REVOLUTION IN DESKTOP COMPUTING?
PREPARE YOUR ANUS FOR REMIX OS.
>Remix OS is our state of the art Android-based operating system. We mean it when we say you get a PC experience unlike anything on Android and an Android experience unlike anything on a PC. The innovative features we’ve brought to Remix OS 2.0 have been meticulously engineered to bring you the best of both worlds – the harmonious fusion of a mobile and desktop experience.
AND IT'S COMING TO x86 COMPUTERS FOR FREE ON JANUARY 12TH.
Oh look, this fag is back again.
Yeah this is quite literally the same resouces used in ChromeOS built on Android.
All of it is a rip from ChromiumOS via the Chromium Projects.
Either get ChromeOS and have a gentoo machine.
Get Papyros and have an Arch Machine.
Or get Gallium and have an Xubuntu machine.
Android != suitable for desktop/laptop (not in the sense that the operating system cant, but the market for android should stay as phones and tablets)
stop with the spamming of your shit. buy ad space if you want to bait sucker into your kike starter """"campaign""""
i would probably would with a try to the DE if available for arch, though
I've played around with Remix OS. It's ok. You can run Android apps in windows and resize them, drag them around your desktop. Nothing to write home about.
It's still better than ChromeOS, which is so gimped you can hardly do anything besides load up browser versions of Google services.
Remix OS's dirty secret is that you can't disable any system apps w/o root. And it doesn't come pre-rooted. That means you're stuck with the Google botnet permanently enabled unless you want to fuck with it.
>Android is very different from the GNU/Linux operating system because it contains very little of GNU. Indeed, just about the only component in common between Android and GNU/Linux is Linux, the kernel. People who erroneously think “Linux” refers to the entire GNU/Linux combination get tied in knots by these facts, and make paradoxical statements such as “Android contains Linux, but it isn't Linux.”(*) Absent this confusion, the situation is simple: Android contains Linux, but not GNU; thus, Android and GNU/Linux are mostly different, because all they have in common is Linux.
at least theyre not a tablet operating system pretending to be a full desktop OS that people will run on i7's
chromeOS did what it needed to do, its a netbook operating system for normies build on gentoo, you can dig into it and flush it out more if you like to get a full linux experience, but for 99% of users stock chrome is enough
remix however is essentially a clone, like gallium, papyros, chromixium, etc but theyre advertising it
thats it, its just an advertised fork and its portrayed as "Revolutionary" even though its android with the same WM and DE that chromeOS uses.
Someone made Android usable on a pc. That's a pretty big deal. People have asked Google for that for years. Also, Chrome OS is garbage compared to Android in every way except security and usability on a pc.
I bought one on the kickstarter, told them it never arrived and they sent another which I then sold so I paid almost nothing for it. It's a piece of buggy, slow, shit. I wanted to find some kind of use for it but I can't. It's fucking useless.
>os designed by currynigger
ITT: pleb cucks
>PCucks never use programs to modify the hosts file
>cyrryniggers are too dumb to do the change by themselves. they need a separae program, of course..
It's much easier to add multiple online hosts files to a local hosts file programatically. Enjoy wasting your time, nigger.
yeah that's exactly what I mean tho. I need a lot better than "not bad" for these dinosaur PC's and android runs pretty fast on old hardware plus everything DPI scales correctly which is great for old people with bad eyesight. windows scales like eyesore on everything. the main problem I see is keyboard mouse support, how it's implemented. really google should just release a proper desktop android. chromeOS is not that.
At first, I thought this would be alright, but now I see why it's dumb. It's all mobile OS shit, and can't use any desktop applications. That's a huge deal breaker.
Also, what's up with these requirements?
>A USB 3.0 flash drive that supports FAT32 format, with a minimum capacity of 8GB and a recommended writing speed of 20MB/s.
Why do you need 8gb? There are plenty of normal sized linux distros that you can install on a 4gb drive for installation. You can make a windows boot drive from a 4gb drive.
These guys are the first to do it and also integrate it with Android itself and optimize it for keyboard/mouse usage. You can't just slap Remix OS's launcher on any random Android build and have it work.
It's fucking impressive that a mid tier, thermally and power constrained ARM processor is almost half as fast as a high end desktop CPU.
If anything, that's proof that x86 is dead man walking.
Nigga, do you know why jewgle never came up with desktop android?
It's not because they can't, it's because most of it's apps are designed for phones and so not very practical for desktop
What makes you think a basement dweller will take over.
Android is linux.
The major differences stem from the alterations in the base kernel and the addition of the Dalvik on any version under 5.0 and ART on later versions.
And it uses its own compilers as oposed to the GNU tools.
Oh and it not using the X server to display everything
Hey guys check out my amazing Remix OS benchmarks you can't beat this shit.
hm, it's better than Chrome OS, but certainly less functional than OSX or Windows. Might be a good choice for a cheap chromebook, but it will be interesting to see if Android apps will work fluidly in a mouse environment as opposed to touch.
Android apps almost universally suck but Google Play has good variety, so that's really the main breath of life for this thing. Because if the apps don't work good, Linux/GNU + Gnome will be superior.
Typical Android app runs ok with a mouse. Just ok. In some cases they are more of a pain to use, and in worst case they are flat out unuseable (ones that require multitouch being the biggest example)
I find the idea of a Java based desktop OS slapped on top of a Linux kernel vomit inducing.
Day one palm pre buyer here, bought off contract for 600$. Had Verizon not fucked palm in the bunghole, webOS would have taken over the world, everything about it was ahead of its time. All current features of all mobile OS's are taken from webOS
if you mean stock:
If you mean third-party:
Every game ever
That weird as fuck Google message thing that does what hangouts does with a modern interface
I don't do much social networking so I can't say. And to attempt to avoid bias, here's my phone history:
>Remix OS is our state of the art Android-based operating system
>Android-based operating system
Why in the hell would you voluntarily use a shitty OS based on Android unless you had no other options. On second though I think I'll try it just because I want to see my computer consistently using all 8 GB of RAM that I have in it and start swapping to my hard drive.
