bumping from previous thread.

Someone suggested a custom Sager but that seems like complete overkill, most of the tasks I'm doing fine on a Satellite a500-13f, it's mainly an issue on portability and battery-life, which was why I considered getting a thinkpad from all the praise it got here.

What? How many cables do you have hanging there?

GPUs can be pretty heavy already.
The GPU itself doesn't care, but the PCIe slot might if you push it down even further.

I see, thank you.

I am using a mini ITX board and a small form factor case. I don't have especially much room, I had no intention to OC, and I only needed one GPU so I didn't need anything more than that.
In the case, the GPU sits right behind the PSU, and the wires coming off of the PSU come out at a particular angle that they press against the GPU and then curve upward to go where they need to go. Like so, basically. Because of where the motherboard and PSU are mounted in the case it is impossible to fit them anywhere further away from eachother.

Help me identify and fix my problem /g/-senpai

My desktop freezes when I run two or more programs that use up a lot of my video memory say for example a videogame and youtube videos at the same time. The display just freezes and the sound buzzes in a loop. I think it has something to do with my videocard which is a 2 year old 5670 because it never happened when I was using my CPU's integrated graphics. I heard that this can happen when the card gets too hot and it looks like my card hovers at 46°C, is this too hot?

It's not about lightweight as much as good. There aren't many projects that make their own encoding software. Most use ffmpeg as a library instead of doing the work themselves. Handbrake is another good option, and instead of just using stick ffmpeg, maintains a fork, but had gone on long enough that is distinctly different now. Probably easier to start with that.

Handbrake or vanilla ffmpeg

but my provider doesn't offer anything that could help me manage the data limit, actually they want me to go over the data cap so they can charge me more.

I just want to set a limit for 19 GB in 3 months, nothing more (I got 20 GB promo for 19€ to use in 3 months, if I consume all the 20 GB then they charge me 9€ for 3 GB more then they cut me off after these are gone, I want to prevent them charging me extra 9€).

>>52310945
I tried already many times but it won't let me select today, it goes month by month, is there a way to explicitly set the limit? like not guessing from the graph. Besides, when I close the settings it just resets, the limit is ignored.

I was thinking of downsizing my computer to a SFF mATX, and one thing that prevents me from downsizing all the way to an ITX build is my capture card (Elgato HD60 Pro).

Now call me OCD, as 95% of games are unaffected by this, but wary of my main PCIe slot downclocking(?) from x16 to x8, and for most ATX motherboards, even using the furthest lane with a x1 card, will downclock it to x8.

My question is, will populating the furthest PCIe lane on most mATX motherboards downclock the main lane to x8. There doesn't seem to be much documentation for most motherboards.

Granted, I don't know the specifics, but all sound needs to be processed, whether through a microchip or a traditional tube, but the difference being is that all sound is inherently analog, ie. the wavelength continuous and not discrete 1's and 0's. So theoretically, tube amps have a better sound signature than a traditional microchip opamp.

However, that being said, tubes do 'color' the sound, so if you want accuracy, you would never use a tube amp, nor would you ever find one in a professional recording studio.

Hi guys, I need some advice.
I bought a 4690k, NZXT s340, and a Corsair H80i GT recently and I am looking for an ATX mobo that has to be black or at least with no red or blue coloring, around $100. Green is my favorite color so I am going to put some green LED's in the case which is why i want a mobo with no color.
I would also like it if I dont have to update the bios.
Can you guys recommend me something that fits my criteria.

Is it still worth it to build an 1155 system?

I want to build a new PC, and I have an 1155 mITX board around. I'd like to buy a used 3570k and some cheap ram to give it some life.

But then I look at the current deals on the newer processors and its tempting but more expensive because I'd need to get a new mobo as well. However, that would net new features like USB 3.1, m2 sockets, PCIE 3.0

I also don't know if I could bring myself to buy the 3570k again when I sold my old PC a year ago that had the same proc in it.

I have a stupid question.

The only thing(s) keeping me from going from Windows 10 to a Linux distro is these things.

1. I do enjoy gaming
1a. If someone can link a wiki on how to do a passthrough from Linux to Windows VM so I can still game, I would be grateful

2. I schedule my downloads for nighttime
2a. Again, if someone would like something like Internet Download Manager that works for Linux, again, I would be grateful.
>>

1. dualboot. boot into windows whenever you want to game.
2. likely exists.

check if the games you play are available for linux.

I don't know internet download manager, but jdownloader might be something similar and is multiplatform.

Generally, I would recommend against them, coming from someone with a G600.

The inherent problem is that mice are traditionally gripped with the thumb and a combination of the ring finger and pinky. When you essentially add a full ten-key to the side of your mouse, you're essentially removing the area where you would grip with your thumb, requiring you to modify your grip. So unless you swear by your ass-backwards monkey paw grip, you're better off with a more ergonomic mouse with several buttons.

Take a look at some of Corsair's older offerings--they're an eyesore, but they're probably more ergonomically conducive.

Here's a stupid question. I live with my family and connect my computer directly to the router which is downstairs. My family members complained that the wifi sucks whenever Im home using my PC (What?) so what they did was bought another router to use upstairs where all their shit is. Do either of these have the complicated install like Arch does?

Give me some citable sources(preferable books and websites) about botnets. I gotta do a 10 page research paper about them. Just the basic shit what they are how to get rid of them etc. nothing specific.

Why is it that when i'm using Linux, specifically Ubuntu nothing seems to work the way it's supposed to?

I try to develop on it because it's supposed to be easier to download and get libraries going but if i'm working in python and use pip to get some library half the time it fucks up and I have to spend three hours googling how to fix it.

Nothing is ever just, pip install "generic-library" and then get to work. It's never just unpack the file and immediately start the tutorial.
>>
>>52318377
There isn't a reason to get one with a PCIe pretty on it.

God fucking damn it all to hell.

I tried updating my Moto G 1st Gen to Marshmallow and now all I get is a boot loop. I tried wiping everything, tried re-flashing, tired installing 12.1 instead of 13.

All it does it load forever.

What do I do?

My wireless network was working fine a few days ago. Now, it's slow as hell. I can browse text okay, but downloading files has become impossible (it'll start downloading, but then stop soon after).

What can I check/fix from my end before I go to complain to the ISP?

I have 30 days to get my money back for NordVPN if needed. What other VPNs are better and why? Connecting to Russian based servers is of particular interest so having that as an option is preferable.

The CM bootloader? Because I updated the original bootloader with the newest one, but it wasn't CM.

How viable is it actually to use Linux with a virtual box windows installation using pci passthough for games?
>>
>>52318869
Not a cringe thread
>>
>>52318869
Very viable. I have been doing it for about a month now. I play all my games in a windows 8.1 VM that has a 970 passed to it. Everything plays with native performance.

Of course, you need some pretty capable hardware.

I know I look retarded for asking this, but how do I download .apk files from google play without the google play app? I'm running cyanogenmod with freecyngn. installgentoowiki recommends this evozi website, but when I use it on my phone (I'm literally trying to install firefox browser so I can use ublock and disable all the cancerous clickjacking ads and bullshit everywhere) but the website is full of AIDS and keeps redirecting me to a website where I can claim my free iPad that I won.

So how do I get apk's without installing a botnet?

Can not enabling an XMP profile cause memory errors on some motherboards?

I have these corsair vengeance 4x4gb sticks that were giving me loads of errors, BSOD and errorless random restarts

After reading up some I upped the voltage to 1.3 and put them from 2133 to 2400, low and behold no errors in memory diagnostic

What the fuck?

This only happens when I'm gaming, but my screens will suddenly have no signal and the sounds cut off. I don't get any response from the keyboard/mouse, but the PC is still on. I have to do a Hard Reset to get it working again.
I've used Speccy, and my CPU lingers at 68C/69C when gaming. I believe when I put the CPU in a new board, I never replaced the paste. It was a pre-built set-up, so I assume they didn't do a good job with the paste and I just created more gaps of air.

I'm wondering if this is the issue of the CPU overheating or no? I believe it'll shut off once it hits 70C.

How do I filter webm files that do and don't have sound?
>>
>>52319968
I'm guessing you can't without downloading them first
maybe you can if you're a wizard

I mean on windows. I don't know which webm files do or don't have sound. Is there a filter option built into windows?

if there is I wouldn't know of it
I'm sure you could write a script to go through each file and add metadata to files with sound

If I buy a copy of Windows 7 now for use on a new PC, will Microsoft still upgrade it to Windows 10? Could be a much cheaper option for me right now. I'm aware of the July cutoff date, but has anyone done this recently?
