Someone suggested a custom Sager but that seems like complete overkill, most of the tasks I'm doing fine on a Satellite a500-13f, it's mainly an issue on portability and battery-life, which was why I considered getting a thinkpad from all the praise it got here.
does /g/ have a guide for monitors? I have a 27 inch ultrasharp for my main monitor and I want to replace my left and right monitors but idk if I want to spend ultrasharp money for side monitors
audiophiles, what are these tubes actually for?
If a have a legit upgraded windows 10 home, can i install a pirated win10 ultimate in another partition without fucking up the legit OS?
also is it possible to use programs installed in one of them in the other?
What? How many cables do you have hanging there?
GPUs can be pretty heavy already.
The GPU itself doesn't care, but the PCIe slot might if you push it down even further.
I see, thank you.
I am using a mini ITX board and a small form factor case. I don't have especially much room, I had no intention to OC, and I only needed one GPU so I didn't need anything more than that.
In the case, the GPU sits right behind the PSU, and the wires coming off of the PSU come out at a particular angle that they press against the GPU and then curve upward to go where they need to go. Like so, basically. Because of where the motherboard and PSU are mounted in the case it is impossible to fit them anywhere further away from eachother.
welp guess I'm waiting
love the really professional Thinkpad aesthetic and this performance is orgasmic, any news on the release date though? P70 is already out and hopefully the P50 follows it.
Bonus: Are 4K screens really worth the price or are they just a meme? I'm the kind of guy who can't tell the difference between 720 and 1080p.
I'm looking to make around $10/h working freelance online, which technology related field should I work in?
1. Converting PSD to responsive HTML5 and CSS3 using bootstrap
2. Web design
3. 3D design
I'm not looking to spend more than a month learning to start working, even If I make $3 an hour in the beginning
Multisim doesn't have a SPICE model for the LM3915.
Would you say this circuit will model it okay? It's missing some stuff like the circuitry for the dot/bar select pin but that's not terribly important for what I'm doing so I'm not modeling it.
Help me identify and fix my problem /g/-senpai
My desktop freezes when I run two or more programs that use up a lot of my video memory say for example a videogame and youtube videos at the same time. The display just freezes and the sound buzzes in a loop. I think it has something to do with my videocard which is a 2 year old 5670 because it never happened when I was using my CPU's integrated graphics. I heard that this can happen when the card gets too hot and it looks like my card hovers at 46°C, is this too hot?
Yes, I am sure I mounted the PSU correctly. Here is a pic I found of how it is meant to be mounted, from the other side.
I spend $100 a month for 105 mb download in Atlanta. When I speedtest, I'm only reaching speeds of 40 mb (plugged in) and 10mb wireless, so Comcast is screwing me.
If I drop down to 60 mb and save $50 a month, I won't get lower speeds than this, right?
it's not like I'm on a special cable that costs $100 to access.
1) Sierra 2 with Minimum Impedance of 6 ohms with 45 - 200 w power and 86 sensitivity.
Would a Denon AVR-S910W with 95 Stereo RMS Power (watts) be able to run the speakers well?
2) Looking to play from both PC and turntable. PC should be fine but not sure about turntable. Have my own phono preamp but what do I use to hook the preamp into the receiver? RCA cable where?
It's not about lightweight as much as good. There aren't many projects that make their own encoding software. Most use ffmpeg as a library instead of doing the work themselves. Handbrake is another good option, and instead of just using stick ffmpeg, maintains a fork, but had gone on long enough that is distinctly different now. Probably easier to start with that.
Handbrake or vanilla ffmpeg
Is it possible to reset the data usage in android? I'm having troubles setting a limit for the next month, it still counts the past usage for some reason.
but my provider doesn't offer anything that could help me manage the data limit, actually they want me to go over the data cap so they can charge me more.
I just want to set a limit for 19 GB in 3 months, nothing more (I got 20 GB promo for 19€ to use in 3 months, if I consume all the 20 GB then they charge me 9€ for 3 GB more then they cut me off after these are gone, I want to prevent them charging me extra 9€).
I tried already many times but it won't let me select today, it goes month by month, is there a way to explicitly set the limit? like not guessing from the graph. Besides, when I close the settings it just resets, the limit is ignored.
I was thinking of downsizing my computer to a SFF mATX, and one thing that prevents me from downsizing all the way to an ITX build is my capture card (Elgato HD60 Pro).
Now call me OCD, as 95% of games are unaffected by this, but wary of my main PCIe slot downclocking(?) from x16 to x8, and for most ATX motherboards, even using the furthest lane with a x1 card, will downclock it to x8.
My question is, will populating the furthest PCIe lane on most mATX motherboards downclock the main lane to x8. There doesn't seem to be much documentation for most motherboards.
it didn't reset this time, yup it just werks, I'll split it 3 times 6,2 GB each since it only goes month by month.
Granted, I don't know the specifics, but all sound needs to be processed, whether through a microchip or a traditional tube, but the difference being is that all sound is inherently analog, ie. the wavelength continuous and not discrete 1's and 0's. So theoretically, tube amps have a better sound signature than a traditional microchip opamp.
However, that being said, tubes do 'color' the sound, so if you want accuracy, you would never use a tube amp, nor would you ever find one in a professional recording studio.
If you properly ground yourself touching a metal part of your case, you don't necessarily need an anti static bracelet. You must keep in mind this is not a 100% fool proof and you risk damage to your parts
Hi guys, I need some advice.
I bought a 4690k, NZXT s340, and a Corsair H80i GT recently and I am looking for an ATX mobo that has to be black or at least with no red or blue coloring, around $100. Green is my favorite color so I am going to put some green LED's in the case which is why i want a mobo with no color.
I would also like it if I dont have to update the bios.
Can you guys recommend me something that fits my criteria.
>I would also like it if I dont have to update the bios.
>Will using letters and symbols defeat any dictionary attack?
Yes because you will need common substitution with a dictionary attack, which shouldn't take too long to crack.
Need a new media shelf for my BDs and games
Anyone know any good solid wood media towers with adjustable shelving?
I looked at prepac and horizon but they were both shit.
how should i run this shit
echo "deb https://pkg.tox.chat/debian nightly $CODENAME" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/tox.list
wget -qO - https://pkg.tox.chat/debian/pkg.gpg.key | sudo apt-key add -
sudo apt-get install apt-transport-https
sudo apt-get update
I'm running ubuntu gnome
What's the temp difference between having my 4790K's IGP On or Off?
Every time I shut down my computer, it turns back on by itself. When I set my computer to sleep, it shuts off and turns back on by itself again.
I checked my keyboard, mouse and ethernet, and I set them all not to wake the computer, but still the computer turns on by itself.
What do I do to fix this?
I'm trying to install "tox". It worked (i think) but it's not coming up when i search for it in applications
What kind of support does VR need to work?
If I were to plug in a random game right now, could I have it such that moving my head with the goggles is the same as moving my mouse?
Is it still worth it to build an 1155 system?
I want to build a new PC, and I have an 1155 mITX board around. I'd like to buy a used 3570k and some cheap ram to give it some life.
But then I look at the current deals on the newer processors and its tempting but more expensive because I'd need to get a new mobo as well. However, that would net new features like USB 3.1, m2 sockets, PCIE 3.0
I also don't know if I could bring myself to buy the 3570k again when I sold my old PC a year ago that had the same proc in it.
I have a Fractal Design Define R4.
Is it possible to make use of the SSD mounts behind the motherboard without having to remove the motherboard to place/replace the SSDs there?
Failing that, is there any good place to mount SSDs other than the standard hard drive mounts? I'd rather only have the three bottom hard drive mounts installed for three hard drives.
Damn, really? It seems like such a simple remap to do something like having headset movement --> view movement, which would be enough to get a great VR experience with racing and flight sims.
maybe someone will make a tool like xpadder/joy2key for vr headsets, but you'll have to wait until it's more widely spread. it could also be the case that oculus/htc provide a tool like that, but until then it's not possible.
A dictionary attack uses the biggest list of words the person who made it can find on the internet, possibly combined with any other words the programmer can think of that aren't included. Maybe even a combination of every list they found.

can someone help me pot here, i have this sync folder from 8ch which i'm very interested in downloading it contains a collection of nudes posted on 4chan over the time.
but the folder is huge (44.1gb) ,so i'm wondering if you can tell me how to ignore some files (pic related is the ignorelist template they provided
Is refurbished the best way to go to get a business laptop/thinkpad that assuredly just works?
I have a stupid question.
The only thing(s) keeping me from going from Windows 10 to a Linux distro is these things.
1. I do enjoy gaming
1a. If someone can link a wiki on how to do a passthrough from Linux to Windows VM so I can still game, I would be grateful
2. I schedule my downloads for nighttime
2a. Again, if someone would like something like Internet Download Manager that works for Linux, again, I would be grateful.
if its anything but old games that are very light on the GPU forget it.
check if the games you play are available for linux.
I don't know internet download manager, but jdownloader might be something similar and is multiplatform.
Mom changed her iPhone 5 password and forgot
She has her apple ID, but we're on a trip and took several photos since our last backup
Is there anyway to regain access without having to wipe completely? ;~;
We have apple ID and are willing to go to Apple so no it's not Jamal doing his ooga booga
Does /g/ have any recommendations on mice with built in number pads?
I think I might find one useful, but all the ones I can find are either retarded gamergear shit or not comfortable (pic related)
Not really sure where to ask this, so I guess I'll ask here, if I buy a $100 Amazon gift card, and then another gift card that's $20, can I put said cards into my Amazon account and I'll have $120?
What is up with sheeky forums? It's just some scam for ad revenue, right?
I downloaded FoundationDB some time ago since Apple removed it and shit.
I don't really know much about MYSQL (only used that a little), mariaDB, PostgreSQL, whatever.
Was downloading FoundationDB worth it? Or will it stale quickly without updates and shit?
I'm not really sure what I'm asking either.
Yes. Clicking the replies to a post and having them show up below the post in a separate box that allows me to look at the replies like a cluster.
It was working a while ago, but my addons had to be reinstalled.
Foundation is NoSQL. are you looking for a NoSQL alternative?
the ones you mentioned are all relational.
there's an ocean of nosql databases and choosing one depends on your application's needs.
if you're new to this i recommend MySQL or alternatively Maria.
I currently have a GTX 760 GPU but am wanting to upgrade.
Should I purchase another 760 for cheap and go SLI or just save up for a better GPU all together? My current PSU would be able to supply enough power for SLI.
Just bought this. What would the best filesystem be for me to format it to if im using it to transfer files between Android, Gnu/Linux and Winblows 10
if your budget is around $200, then yes buying one more 760 for SLI makes more sense than buying a single 960.
Postgresql is the most feature rich. it's stable and well supported.
MySQL is the industry standard for the web.
you wont go wrong either way.
I wanna flash a custom ROM on my chink tablet rebranded into >home brand, preferrably into MIUI
I've got root and I have installed CPU-Z
I really don't wanna brick this tablet because of reasons, and if I do, is there a 100% surefire way of factory resetting?
Generally, I would recommend against them, coming from someone with a G600.
The inherent problem is that mice are traditionally gripped with the thumb and a combination of the ring finger and pinky. When you essentially add a full ten-key to the side of your mouse, you're essentially removing the area where you would grip with your thumb, requiring you to modify your grip. So unless you swear by your ass-backwards monkey paw grip, you're better off with a more ergonomic mouse with several buttons.
Take a look at some of Corsair's older offerings--they're an eyesore, but they're probably more ergonomically conducive.
i was moving my 4chan folder from one drive to the other, not copying and because the files were encrypted somehow everything got deleted after i rebooted the pc. although they were all there when i had finished moving them. i havent really touched the drive the files came from or the destination drive.
Is there anyway to recover the files?
Do i need a good PSU to OC my 4670kor am i good to go with my CX600?
Power draw under load is still under 500w
Do I have to worry about this? I'm trying to make my 50 Hz TV register as a 60 Hz monitor because there is this game that runs all cutscenes on half your FPS, but the cutscenes are made to run on 30 FPS which is why they stutter when running at 25 FPS for me. Maybe I'm doing something entirely wrong here I don't know. There is no option to turn vsync off or anything like that, it's one of those weird japanese ports.
make sure you have an up to date recovery. TWRP is best. through the recovery you can factory recent and flash different roms from storage or sdcard.
i've used my NTFS external hdd with all sorts of destros for 5 years and never had a single issue.
I want an introduction to yacc or bison without having to deal with over 10000 words about tokens, terminal symbols and whatever, just a example with some simplifications to make it intuitive, I'll branch from it latter once I get a hold of the basic.
>Is ... possible in C?
Anything is possible in C
If the syntax is correct C will compile, but trying to access memory outside your program's own will usually be blocked by your OS of choice.
An interesting thing to do is load files into memory and then run that or use unassigned variables, etc.
What is the normal procedure in a case like this?
Some guy made a pull request about 3 months ago on github, but it didn't build for various reasons. I've now got his code working and changed a few things. He hasn't been online in ages and isn't responding, it would make no sense to do a pull request to his repo. Can I add my own pull request to the main project with his now working code and the changes I've made? It would be a shame for his work to go to waste.
What's a good way to find a new power source for my PC? Trying to figure out what exactly I need for the modular power supply I'm about to buy and I don't want to order something too expensive or end up with the wrong thing. The PC was built for me as a gift and I've never built/upgraded before so I know pretty much nothing past the basic shit
Can I play games like Hearthstone on an android with a custom ROM (such as CM) without having to install google play?
Like can I just install .apk files for games and they'll work without using the google jew?
Here's a stupid question. I live with my family and connect my computer directly to the router which is downstairs. My family members complained that the wifi sucks whenever Im home using my PC (What?) so what they did was bought another router to use upstairs where all their shit is. I will be the sole user of the router downstairs while all their devices will be connected to the one upstairs. So my question is can 2 routers even be used without fucking something up? Can I expect a better wired internet connection since there's less traffic on this router?
Im not familiar with networking so that went over my head. Essentially my PC is connected by ethernet cable to a router which is connected to the modem.
They're buying a router to use upstairs connected to a wall cable I suppose? Their PC will be directly connected to that and other devices will be connected to that router via wifi.
would there be a big slowdown if i encrypted my system partition using AES?
i don't use an SSD if that makes a difference
What program should I use (besides FRAPS) for showing FPS in my games that aren't steam games? I want something even more lightweight than FRAPS, if there is such a thing.
so, I'm working on a interpreter for arm architecture, and am using open source software for the base,
the instructions so far are "the binary image file from the download site can be uploaded to the MCU's FLASH"
does this mean, literally, just the ".bin" file with a designation for whatever board I'm using? if there were only binary files that'd be fine, but the package contains all kinds of files, like header files, and shell scripts, that I don't want to fuck it up
Will this work? Also, does the scotch tape make it heat up?
I connected it and everything and it got kinda hot, is it normal? Whats the usual hdd temperature?
I need to buy an adapter to connect to wi-fi, does anyone have a suggestion for one?
Right now I'm looking over this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TQEX7AQ since I'm trying to get something that isn't USB based due to having a bad experience with one of them. Anyone maybe have experience with this one, the brand, or maybe just know a thing or two about networking and could tell me their thoughts on it? The router in use is the Linksys EA6300.
I haven't had problems with that brand, but avoid internal wireless cards on desktops. Wireless tech changes fast. Get two different USB adapters with different modern chips. Use whichever works well. You'll get the same performance and still save $40
/g/ recently recc'd building your own speaker by buying a driver and following a guide:
Would homemade monitors perform as well as the kind audiophiles buy?
Can you simply purchase the same drivers, construct a cabinet based on guidelines, and pay a third of the cost for some effort?
If so, why don't audio engineers do this? (or do they?)
I'm looking for a program that will stress my cpu and gpu and repost the temps I get.
I only find programs that just show my real time temps.
>How does it avoid collisions with others on the network?
In what sense would a collision happen? The return address still has a return IP layer three
It picks the port randomly (if it's not in use) I'm trying to remember what random method it uses to do so.
NAT reroutes conflicts with new different port numbers on the public network
how can i increase the number of simultaneous downloads in firefox or chrome? (default is 5)
t. someone who just got 250mbit/s internet
So I just downloaded a game and I tried to create a character in it, but nothing happened. I Googled around and found out it is because the folders the game is trying to save the character to are "Read only." I unchecked the box on the parent folder that said Read only, but it instantly reverted itself back.
So I'm making babby's first Android app. Which license should I use, MIT, BSD, or Apache?
What linux distro should a linux noob install? I don't like Ubuntu very much. I like the look of elementary OS, but i heard it was a stripped down version so that probably wouldn't be good for me.
how can we increase the general quality of posts on 4chan?
so I have a MSI x99A SLI Plus Krait edition motherboard that supports quad channel DRAM DDR4 and has 8 RAM slots
If I get 8x4gb will it support dual quad? What will happen? Is it better to have 4x8 or 8x4?
>If I get 8x4gb will it support dual quad?
>What will happen?
It will explode like a nuke. No seriously it'll work in quad still, that's the best it can do. Two sticks per channel bandwidth.
>Is it better to have 4x8 or 8x4?
Makes no difference m8.
>>Is it better to have 4x8 or 8x4?
>Makes no difference m8.
Actually let me correct myself. 8 sticks is a lot of bandwidth going on, some boards are not able to handle it at a decent frequency. If you want to OC your RAM above 1600Mhz standard, you should have only four sticks.
>can they be different brands and speeds?
Yes. The only thing you need to note is that if you mix ie x2 4GB sticks 1600Mhz CL9 and x2 4GB 1333Mhz CL9 All sticks will run at 1333Mhz (lowest common speed). You can create some nasty bottlenecks
Plasma 5 KDE, mint w/ cinnamon, XFCE
Give me some citable sources(preferable books and websites) about botnets. I gotta do a 10 page research paper about them. Just the basic shit what they are how to get rid of them etc. nothing specific.
Why is it that when i'm using Linux, specifically Ubuntu nothing seems to work the way it's supposed to?
I try to develop on it because it's supposed to be easier to download and get libraries going but if i'm working in python and use pip to get some library half the time it fucks up and I have to spend three hours googling how to fix it.
Nothing is ever just, pip install "generic-library" and then get to work. It's never just unpack the file and immediately start the tutorial.
God fucking damn it all to hell.
I tried updating my Moto G 1st Gen to Marshmallow and now all I get is a boot loop. I tried wiping everything, tried re-flashing, tired installing 12.1 instead of 13.
All it does it load forever.
What do I do?
My wireless network was working fine a few days ago. Now, it's slow as hell. I can browse text okay, but downloading files has become impossible (it'll start downloading, but then stop soon after).
What can I check/fix from my end before I go to complain to the ISP?
I have 30 days to get my money back for NordVPN if needed. What other VPNs are better and why? Connecting to Russian based servers is of particular interest so having that as an option is preferable.
How viable is it actually to use Linux with a virtual box windows installation using pci passthough for games?
Very viable. I have been doing it for about a month now. I play all my games in a windows 8.1 VM that has a 970 passed to it. Everything plays with native performance.
Of course, you need some pretty capable hardware.
Is it safe to delete the whole Temp folder in my Users folder in Windows 7? There's a ton of shit in there and I can't imagine much of it would affect a damn thing.
What the fuck is this
I know I look retarded for asking this, but how do I download .apk files from google play without the google play app? I'm running cyanogenmod with freecyngn. installgentoowiki recommends this evozi website, but when I use it on my phone (I'm literally trying to install firefox browser so I can use ublock and disable all the cancerous clickjacking ads and bullshit everywhere) but the website is full of AIDS and keeps redirecting me to a website where I can claim my free iPad that I won.
So how do I get apk's without installing a botnet?
No it's rated for 3.3 Ghz standard, but it usually clocks around 3.5-3.8 I can post a pic real quick off my phone.
I've got a supermicro X8DAi, and I want to put in dual gpu's, as well as keep my SATA3 and USB3 cards
what would be the best way to do this? am I going to have to run a bunch of ribbon cables everywhere?
Can not enabling an XMP profile cause memory errors on some motherboards?
I have these corsair vengeance 4x4gb sticks that were giving me loads of errors, BSOD and errorless random restarts
After reading up some I upped the voltage to 1.3 and put them from 2133 to 2400, low and behold no errors in memory diagnostic
What the fuck?
This only happens when I'm gaming, but my screens will suddenly have no signal and the sounds cut off. I don't get any response from the keyboard/mouse, but the PC is still on. I have to do a Hard Reset to get it working again.
I've used Speccy, and my CPU lingers at 68C/69C when gaming. I believe when I put the CPU in a new board, I never replaced the paste. It was a pre-built set-up, so I assume they didn't do a good job with the paste and I just created more gaps of air.
I'm wondering if this is the issue of the CPU overheating or no? I believe it'll shut off once it hits 70C.
If I buy a copy of Windows 7 now for use on a new PC, will Microsoft still upgrade it to Windows 10? Could be a much cheaper option for me right now. I'm aware of the July cutoff date, but has anyone done this recently?
