Motorola is now RIP. Thanks Lenovo.
jesus christ why does lenovo need to fuck everything up
even if it doesn't change anything about the actual products, the Moto(rola) names and the motorola logos were great, way better than Lenovo.
Motorola: Established name, market leader in several countries
Lenovo: Makes overpriced laptops for buisinesses, whores out buyers to various malware.
Yep, Motorola was definitely the name to cut.
I miss my US made MX. best smartphone design to exist.
The original MX was made in the US, hence its high price for its specs. AFAIK its the only smartphone that's been made here. For obvious reasons. But damn was the build quality awesome.
It was noted as being ergonomically ideal for something like 80% of people's hands. Then they decided to fuck with it.
But yeah, flipping Qualcomm the bird and designing their own low power voice was the only remarkable thing on the spec sheet.
HELLO MOTO? More like GOODBYE MOTO
Am i right guys?
>Lenovo wants to use its corporate brand to unify the products. Phones such as the Moto X will prominently feature the blue Lenovo logo. Motorola's iconic M "batwing" logo will still be used.
So your phone will now have two logos? Ugh.
Motorola split into two companies sometime in the 2000s. They were motorola mobility and motorola solutions. Motorola mobility is the one that is now being killed off. On the other hand, motorola mobility is still around, as they are independent of each other.
"Motorola" is only popular among tech geeks, and the fact that /g/ thinks that it's a marketable name speaks volumes. If you say "Motorola" to a normal person, the first thing they will think of is pagers from the 1990's, or if they're younger then maybe those flip phones from the 2000's. Getting rid of the "Motorola" name is a smart business move, no matter how you look at it.
Lenovo doesn't own Motorola, he's talking shit.
Motorola sold their mobile division to Google in 2011 and now Google sold it to Lenovo.
Same as when Nokia sold it's mobile division to Microsoft.
