>Apple has dropped the 3.5 mm headphone jack for iPhone 7, will rely on wireless
Really though, what is the point of this? is losing even more battery life worth it just to get the phone a few mm thinner?
Dont forget too that android brands are going to copy so, yall cant really shit talk about this
phone thinness is the worst memephone gimmick ever
they could have great battery life but they feel they can "beat" other makers by bragging about MUH THIN
>android brands are going to copy so, yall cant really shit talk about this
nigga's calling you fandroids the fuck out
Schmidt stay swinglin' you nigga's.
i blacked out
DESU I like my Galaxy better with a case.
For some reason I find the added 2-3mm of thickness makes it considerably more comfortable to handle.
A cracker-thin phone would probably feel awful.
meh, don't really care. i already use BT in my car and at home i use the thunderbolt port to analog adapter to my amp. i really doubt they're really gonna pull the trigger though. especially with earpods being relatively new
The one upside of thinner phones is that eventually my phone will just disappear into my wallet-case, making the wallet-case about as thick as phones used to be. That's pretty cool.
It sucks if you use your phone without a bulky case though.
Kek tfw I used to do that. Being a poorfag I had a metroPCS samsung Admire with no service and a Lg Cosmos 2 because my cosmos 1 got stolen (which was better than the 2nd).
Now I gots a LG G4 ayyy yeee.
Probably doing it for both making it thinner as well as making it easier to water proof the phone, as that's what the rumors are saying the iPhone 7 will feature.
Either way, I prefer my S5 Active. Especially since now I have to buy the phone full price or go with AT&T Next bullshit, I doubt I'm getting a new phone any time soon.
I was mistaken, it's ulefone.
My only issue is the processor desu.
you're retarded. 5" phones should be minimum for readability/basic functionality. there's no reason to be using 4" phones in this day and age -- you may as well be using a BB or a dumbphone if you want a small device. Also who the fuck uses ethernet on a laptop? that's fucking retarded. i bought a macbook air in 2011 and first thing i did was buy the ethernet adapter along with it. i ended up using the ethernet cord a total of 5 times since then
>having anything less than 10,000mah battery
But how much does it cost?
You're all autistic. It's not about thin or not, Apple want to down the cost of production of his iPhone. That's the same thing that a glued battery or no sd port. The ultimate goal is to make the iPhone without manpower. Just to glued a motherboard, some sensors,a chip and a battery.
Chinese workers become expensive, even for apple.
Why would they get rid of 3.5mm?
Who cares if it's old technology, it's always worked fine! Why would I want a thinner phone?!
The market on lightning-to-3.5mm adapters is going to fucking EXPLODE.
No they won't copy this. In fact it is against the recycling laws of australia, and every other country except for china and amercia.
They are creating landfill all because they want a special headphone.
Whats the advantage of keeping analog connectors around over possibly slimmer and stronger digital connectors? Other than compatibility, I don't exactly own that many headphones and I wouldn't care if I had to go buy another $40 pair anyway. Wireless is retarded though, as far as headphones go.
Was seriously considering swapping my 5S to a 7 when it came out, but if it drops the audio jack completely might have to pick up a 6S+ or some Sony phone.
This is going to suck for those who use their phones as portable music players. No lightning adapter is going to ever replace a quality DAC (not that the iPhone ever had a quality DAC to begin with).
Something else will break long before that with applel's shit tier build quality.
>Dont forget too that android brands are going to copy so, yall cant really shit talk about this
I'll shit talk about what ever I want faggot. You have zero proof that Android will copy this and up til today you didn't even now apple would do this. It offers no real benefit to the user and is simply a gimmick.
A gimmick is at least supposed to offer the illusion of some kind of benefit. This is plain and simply a cash grab.
The retarded apple shills in the comments make sick.
>Honestly, I have never used the 3.5 mm jack on my iPhone 6, and I have never used the included earbuds. I like Bluetooth, which has advanced greatly over the past couple of years.
Who fuck never uses a jack on their phone?
inb4 bluetooth niggerbeats "compatible" with iPhone 7
>Dont forget too that android brands are going to copy so, yall cant really shit talk about this
Android isn't just one brand though.
You can almost always get an android device without this wank.
That's why I never understand android hate that iplebs have. Samsung may be shit, but that doesn't marr every device.
tfw apple plebs are forced to use wireless headphones and think that it's revolutionary.
I didn't say expense, I said waste in a general sense.
>$40 headphone breaks
>perfectly usable DAC
>retard normies drop it in the bin
>bigger landfills full of slowly rotting usable hardware
> Make some of the best DACs on mobile phones
> Fug it, let's remove it
I want stave jobs back desu senpaitachi
not really, i could have worked out a solution with wireless or tethering to my phone or someshit. saying adding 1/2" and 1lbs to a laptop for fucking EDGE CASES is beyond retarded
Never actually broken a lightning connector, and I work in a repair centre, I see a lot more snapped off 3.5mm jacks stuck than I do lightning/usb connectors.
I see, you still have to convert the digital signal to analog somewhere down the line, and having it on headphones would increase the price/another point of failure etc. Plus it would be hard to implement on earphones as well I assume.
What about battery cases that connect to the lightning port?
>applefags in charge of reading comprehemsion
yes, bundled with a lightning headphone. You can't charge while listening to music and vice-versa. Somehow, being able to do so simultaneously is now a $40 privilege
>You charge the phone, then you use it.
So you have NEVER tried to use the phone while it's charging?
When I had an iPod, I needed to. It didn't hold battery long enough to use it any other way, and that was before the thin meme.
It works either way. Wireless or not, it's gonna jack up prices of wired headphones because of the built-in DAC. Want to listen while charging? Pay a bit more for bluetooth, goy!
>I don't mind inferior audio quality
>I'll even pay more for it
I agree that the single USB-C port was a retarded idea but bluetooth mouses are fine and they make USB-C flash drives with a standard USB and a type C end. So you have to buy 2 new accessories, not that big of a deal imo.
So after reading this article linked in this here thread >>52265868 I'm wondering if apple can even afford to take this risk. I'm guessing samsung will only follow suit if the change results in increased sales, which is highly unlikely.
It's a bad thing for customers, though. Standardized jacks and peripherals foment competition. We've had this situation before with every asshole company using their own proprietary earphone jack and it resulted in them going back to the standard 3.5 mm one.
Before, the battery came with the phone. Now, you'll have to buy it separately. Phone+battery will have same thickness as old phones. Of course, Apple will sell iBatteries for $1000 each.
Apple, Think Different. (C)
Imagine this is actually a Bluetooth receiver with 20 hours playback.
I suppose they got rid of it for the same reason I don't use headphones anymore. When you break off the male end in the slot it fucks everything up, same problem with the charger, flash drives, basically any data device.
if thick was the problem they would go for a 2.5mm jack but that's not the reality, they are forcing their lightning proprietary stuff for more shekels.
Blaming it on thickness is just an excuse.
Have any of you actually used a bluetooth mouse? And I'm not talking about gayming. It's fucking horrible, battery life is worse than in similar model with usb receiver and establishing a connection after system startup takes forever.
I do help desk for a medium sized company, everyone is issued iphones. I've seen massive screen cracks, nasty shit stuck in the earphone jacks, wet phones that probably went into some toilet and any sort of dumb mistreatment you want to name. I've never seen anyone stupid enough to break the plug into the phone.
It was too good for us mortals
IT's so they can roll out their own brand of proprietary DRM in the future.
Standard headphone jack can be plugged into anything that supports a headphone jack input. Speakers, radios, etc.
This lets them start down the road of having a proprietary wireless encryption scheme that will only work with licensed Apple headphones, ensuring that "public piracy" becomes a non-issue to the record labels.
>they are forcing their lightning proprietary stuff for more shekels.
It's like I'm really buying a phone in the early 2000's!
>battery life is worse than in similar model with usb receiver and establishing a connection after system startup takes forever.
none of this is an issue with my magic mouse(with aa batteries) and mac.
>modern smartphone design
I can't leave the bedroom, I have a charger in there.
3.5mm jacks have been a godsend on phones, i remember having to deal with shit connectors like >>52266730 and it was a fucking nightmare
I don't really care what Apple does, but I hope other manufacturers don't pick up this shit
>but I hope other manufacturers don't pick up this shit
Same. USB Type C would be great for phones, but I don't want to use it for heaphones
All I ask for is Android manufactures to put headphone jacks on the bottom of the phones again
Who the fuck are the people who actually demand thinner phones. Literally everything I hear about phones is complaints about battery life, no one ever comments on how amazingly thin someone's phone is. It's like the few people that design new phones want them thinner just so they can wank over the technical wizardy they have to pull to do it.
small hands would mean a smaller screen, not a thinner phone. I have a z5c which is a brick compared to some others, but the screen is smaller and you don't even notice the thickness unless you look at the side.
Most people buying Apple phones don't know what they want, anyway. You could market a 10 hour battery life android phone and they will still buy the apple AnorexicPhone 7 because hey it actually fits in my tight ass pants.
Apple products are all beta products.
Yosemite - Lags like piece of shit, graphical user interface is sloppy
El Capitan - Another fast release OS with more features, this time they tried to correct problems in Betamite, some people report having wireless bugs on it.
Macbook - single port mac, with shit cpu and no replaceable parts.
Macbook pro 13"- Just a minor update and price rise. woow it's fucking nothing (they are stalling in making something interesting)
Macbook pro 15" - Gets uncomfortably hot when doing really heavy work on 15". Some models throttle.
iMacs - Only high ends are actually worth something but not for the price of 3 grand, problem with boot camp and having to use specific Apple drivers apparently. (on windows)
iPad pro - Tablet with no real professional programs and locked down piece of shit OS. Doesn't even come with pen. Just iPad with bigger screen and better specs with "pro" joke slapped on product name. Yes, base model doesn't even have 3g/Lte how can it even have a "pro" on it
iPhone 6S - let's face it, the 3D touch is gimmick bullshit and you very rarely use it, you paid for this beta test with battery life and increase in weight. Most problems lies in iOS which is too locked down piece of shit.
Apple watch - niche product with shit battery and needs phone to get best of it. Stupid, inconvenient and expensive.
Apple pen - A 99 dollar pen accessory for thousand dollar "pro" tablet.
iOS - Locked down piece of shit.
>Needs iTunes to transfer music onto it
>Apple music advertisements all over music app, even when disabled the user interface has been turned to clusterfuck.
>locked down to only Apple store apps.
>Kimoji being one of top paid (1st to 10th place in most countries) apps tells lot about mentality of iPhone users:
iPhone 7, yet another beta test by Apple to see if suckers fall for it.
Man I fucking love the Android OS. It's just so nice and simple. I sometimes think I should just buy a Moto G or G4 and have a blast with it.
Such a shame iOS is a clusterfuck but at least my snapchat pics of my thinkpad are fire tho
Still better than Android.
It's a clunky OS with a shit keyboard selection and a horrific repository for software. I've used android 4->6 and all I can say is that it only cares about data gathering and not providing a decent user experience.
>Other than compatibility
Which is the most important point nigger. 99% of wired headphones on the market are 3,5 jack. The ones that aren't are either probably the proprietary connectors from old phones or large jack.
Enjoy needing co carry a converter at all times.
>Whats the advantage of keeping analog connectors around over possibly slimmer and stronger digital connectors?
Not needing batteries in the headphones.
So you can keep them small and light.
>iOS - Locked down piece of shit.
You haven't mention AppleID, which is forces you to give your credit card and email information to apple if you try to change regions, or download free apps.
>You haven't mention AppleID, which is forces you to give your credit card and email information to apple if you try to change regions, or download free apps.
This is completely wrong tho.
You can't download anything from the app or itune store without a apple id. You can't use Apple Music free trial, or dowload any free app without apple id. Apple id is linked to many services to Apple' first party software.
In addition in order to change regions on the itune store, you must provide a update billing information on your payment method
what really pisses me off is that you also have to provide the information if you have a Mac, so that you can download updates. Seriously invasive and makes managing them at a company even more of a pain in the ass.
WE MUST ALL STRIVE TO BECOME AS THIN AS STEVE JOBS, OUR ASCENDED SKELETAL GOD.
>Really though, what is the point of this? is losing even more battery life worth it just to get the phone a few mm thinner?
It's a fashion accessory. Why are you talking about it like it's actual technology?
>You can't use Apple Music free trial, or dowload any free app without apple id.
You can download any free app without giving out payment info, I have hella free apps and have never gave any info.
You're full of shit and now you're backpedaling and dancing around your fuck up.
>I have hella free apps and have never gave any info.
Do you have apple id when download those services? Here are the official steps of into making apple id without payment info.
Either way you have to provide a email address to download free apps from the app store. Apple ID had security measures like preventing you from downloading free apps if it's been disabled.
>You're full of shit and now you're backpedaling and dancing around your fuck up
You haven't refuted in anything because I can backup my claims, you haven't done anything to back yours.
This seems like a deal breaker for me. iPhone isn't too think. Honestly if it gained a few mm and got a larger battery that would be fine as well.
But yeah, this is going to drain battery even faster, and it creates the need to keep your BT headphones charged all the time. So its really two batteries you have to worry about. No thanks.
I want an iphone with androids file management system so I can add and delete files without having to run through itunes/iphotos while worrying about that photo cache which eats up memory like popcorn.
This would mean that every iPhone would come with a pair of Bluetooth headphones instead of these god awful EarCucks. Fuck this thin shit man I want longer battery life, my LG Ally lasted longer than this 6 Plus.
>Give me a 6 inch 4K screen w/ a 200mAh battery so I can never leave the charger senpai
The iPhone 7 came out already? Shit. that was quick!
Goldfish actually remember things for months. The 3 second memory thing is a myth.
I'm not trying to be a dick, but does TouchWiz really not piss you off with all that bloatware? Because iPhones are relatively bloat free. My friend got an S6 and he can't stand all the battery hogging bullshit running in the background along with the stutter that typically comes with TouchWiz.
Senpai, You don't understand. Apple ID is core competent to Apple services. Even if you don't use the app store download, sideloading with xcode still requires an apple id.
Android's problem is the fact that it's decentralized, and that google's security can be ignored.
>"Doc, cut my left kidney out."
>"But why? Why would you ever want that? Both your kidneys work fine."
>"I NEED TO BE THINNER. NOW CUT IT OUT."
>"This is insane, I refuse."
>"CUT IT OUT. CUT OUT HALF OF MY LIVER TOO. AND I ONLY NEED ONE HEMISPHERE OF MY BRAIN. AND ONE ARM. CUT IT ALL OFF. DO IT OR I'LL DO IT MYSELF. I NEED TO BE THINNER. GIMME THE FUCKING KNIFE. GIVE IT TO MEEEEE."
>Apple looks for a way to save money
>Apple only did this so they don't have to include a pair of earphones in all future iphones
>can now sell an adapter if you want use wired headphones
>android phone manufacturers will probably follow in Apple's footsteps
I use a Logitech bluetooth mouse with my laptop. It takes a couple seconds at most to establish connection, more than a regular wireless but I wouldn't call it "taking forever".
Also it's still on its original batteries after a year or two of use.
Apple users. iPhones are fashion accessories. That's why every iPhone case has a circular window so you can still see the Apple logo.
>Oh you have the new iPhone 6, that's so awesome
When the iPhone 7 comes people will be amazed at how thin it is.
Meanwhile people who want to connect headphones are going to have to buy a Lightning DAC specially made by Apple.
Apple will tout it as a feature, since they will say that their Apple DAC has much higher sound quality.
Apple will also make a Lightning Beats, where the DAC will be built into their Beats headphones.
It's marketing genius. It's like Jobs came back from the dead.
>Really though, what is the point of this?
Cheaper to produce. Can charge extra because of le newer is better meme, since Applefags are fucking children who like pretty colors.
Can't really blame them. It's surprising that they haven't done this earlier. After all, if you aren't innovating your stagnating. I imagine they'll come out with a compromise version of the iPhone 7, kind of like Nintendo's 2DS is a compromise version of the 3DS that can play 3DS games without being as expensive or risky to your young retarded child's eyes.
Like from the rip off of the Michael Bay movie?
>Nice autismphone. It will look gr8 with your flaming fedora and trenchcoat.
>Caring what phones other people use.
>Calling other people autistic for their phone choice.
I don't think the word is what you think it means.
>android constantly generates logfiles (logcat, userdebug, event_data_unix time, strictmode_system_app and many others)
>no way to disable them
>you have to manually clean them by rooting and installing a cleaner app
THEY ARE GOING TO PUT IT SIDEWAYS TO MAKE MORE SPACE FOR THE BATTERY
>iPhone that bends by simply putting it in your pocket
>replacing all USB ports on macbook air with a single obscure usb c Port and charging 80 for regular USB adapters
>releasing a smart watch that's needs an iPhones or else it's useless and selling it for 1000
>removing the audio jack from phone
>forced to use wireless
>applecucks will buy it
>look at poll results
>40% ok ,40% mixed, 20% negative about 3.5 removal
Cmon its 2016
The braindeadness is killing me... How fucking brillant are you when you literaly have an army of fags that defend and justify how bad you treat them ? I mean its not even being a genius at that point.
