What are you even planning to use this garbage for

What are you using it for?

Get an 860k and a used HD 7950 on eBay.

Jesus, man.

Budget light gayming. Mostly CSS and a little civ 5
>>
>>52255834
Also already upgraded power supply to 400 watt
>>
>>52256302
Shud have gotten better GPU and gotten windows from microsoftsoftwareswap or elsewere.
also soundcard is not needed
>>
>>52256374
Thought it didn't have integrated sound when I bought it. Also, how is the graphics card bad? It seems alright.
I expected more le barracuda hitching as well
>>
>>52256427
Graphics card is a waste of $100. A 2gb GT 950 would be much, much better.
>>
>>52256481
Why though? Specs seem to check out

How is this? Gaming in the UK.
>>

Looks nice, but you could probably salvage stuff from your old pc, if it's good
>>

>>52256302
Drop soundcard, optical drive, wifi bullshit, Wangblows license, and welfare CPU cooler.
Dump some more money into graphics card and an HDD that doesn't have the highest failure rates of all time.

Kk thanks. And nah my current PC is god awful so I'd rather not. Here's its specs. Rather just let it die desu and start new. Oh yeah I've also only got a 1600x900 monitor but planning to upgrade to a 1080p one in the near future. For now the 390 is pretty overkill for 900p but oh well.
>>
>>52257811
I harvested an ssd from my old shitty laptop, and Seagate has good warranty. Ill probably drop the soundcard though, and sell it on ebay

Posted in another thread but I don't think it was the right place to post.

Anyways, just want to play AAA titles, 1080p, stable 60fps at high settings minimum for reviewing purposes.

Debating over GTX 970/390 right now.

Also, already own the case, mobo, and ram. Added them for reference.

help
>>
>>52258113
First time build.
Also I upgraded the psu to 400w without updating it
I used to play games on a micro laptop with 1.6gigahertz cup. Lag is not a problem
>>52258145
It's k, but I know it's missing something. I'm not sure what

buying windows and not getting your CPU or GPU from Jet is a big mistake.

Am I supposed to be this mad?
>>
>>52258172
Just 'k'?
>>
I'd get a better GPU, something like a GTX 950 or an R7 360 (or even a 370, if you wanted to splurge a bit). A 740 isn't going to cut it if you want to play at 1080p.
>>
>>52257905
>Seagate has good warranty
Doesn't matter, their 3TB drives have notoriously high failure rates. The other ones are fine, just don't get a 3TB drive from Seagate.
>>
Trolled yourself pretty hard there op.

Get the 970 if you have to pay for your own electricity
>>
>>52258145
What the fuck is wrong with your font rendering
>>
>>52258538
Nothing, it's just the image. Not sure why it looks like that.

>>52258505
Yes I do pay for my own electricity. Does it matter which brand I get? Looking at the EVGA one now.
>>
>>52258574
EVGA is my favorite for nvidia cards
If you get the AMD buy XFX or Sapphire
>>
>>52258440
720p will probably cut it, but I'm not sure. I've only ever used a tiny laptop with a tinyass screen. 970 isn't compatible with motherboard
>>
>>52258574
>EVGA
Don't.
You should only go with EVGA if you're 1) buying a reference card and you intend to slap an aftermarket cooler on there, or 2) buying one of their AIO watercooled cards.
If neither of these apply to you, go with a different brand.

All thermal compound works pretty much the same. The preapplied will work
>>
>>52258853
Last time I bought a cpu off of Amazon it had none pre applied.
>>
>>52258802
No 1TB HDD? I don't think they're much more expensive and you get double the storage.
>>
>>52258884
the stock cooler has thermal paste on it
>>
>>52258802
Honestly, I'd advise against a 120GB SSD unless you're buying at least 2 of them for RAID0.
120GB fills up faster than you might think if you're running Windows.
>>
>>52258904
Alright

>>52258886
Yeah I guess I'll just find another cheap 1tb, but I'm trying to keep costs down

>>52258908
Yes, I am using windows. The plan was to migrate my OS onto the SSD, and only install games onto the SSD. Never had a SSD, so I'm going cheap just to test it out.
>>
How's this? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/DcYx7P
I already have an hdd, optical drive, and windows 10
>>
>>52258961
>so I'm going cheap just to test it out
There really isn't much to "test out" with an SSD.
It's just fast storage, it doesn't improve your performance beyond loading times. You should already know exactly what to expect if you're not a mouthbreathing retard.

Especially if you're installing games onto such a small drive, you'll run out of space quickly. This is why you should go all the way and get at the very least a 250GB SSD.
120GB is enough for an office computer or maybe a laptop, but most definitely not enough for a gaming machine with how large modern games are.
>>
>>52259108
By "testing", I meant to say I want to have the SSD experience without fulling committing on a more expensive piece of hardware without knowing if it's something I really value high enough. I am also trying to keep costs down. But I will take your input into consideration.

Also, apparently the 970 only has 3.5gb VRAM available instead of the advertised 4gb? Does this really matter?
>>
>>52255724
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Ck8Dt6
>>
>>52259168
When your game eats up more than 3.5GB it'll stutter like a bitch.
>>
How niggerish is this?

I want to be prepared for VR
>>
>>52259213
Do modern games usually use more than that @ 1080p?
>>
>>52259168
>Also, apparently the 970 only has 3.5gb VRAM available instead of the advertised 4gb? Does this really matter?
Both wrong and right. It does have 4GB VRAM, but the last 500MB is a lot slower than the first 3.5GB. The idea of this design is that Nvidia would optimize the driver to put less accessed data in the last 500MB to minimize the impact of slow memory.

It's limited how well this actually works in practice though, but generally as long as you play your games in 1920x1080 you'll be just fine.
>>
>>52259283
For now, there's not many games that go over the 3.5GB limit.
This may very well change in the future though, and at higher resolutions it will definitely become a problem.
>>
>>52258802

this is basically an abortion in a computer case.

My phone could outperform this.
