so how much does windows 10 track? even though we tell it not to.
Oh damn, I loved that book.
Well, I don't WANT to have a central theme, that's even stated in the title. I want to provide lots of random information, my thoughts about anything that goes through my mind, spread out information.
It's what my mind is like and it's what I'd want to read as well.
But I guess many people prefer having a central theme to something.
Thanks for checking it out though.
fair enough. i suppose one way to do it is to eventually get readers who have similar hobbies to you and then you can mix up talking about your life and hobbies. im pretty sure thats what most blogs do.
read microsofts privacy statement on thei website. they tell you exactly which data they collect. pic related is most of it, but there's more
Yeah, I think so too - the thing I'm asking myself just "How do I start getting this initial "core group"?".
I'm pretty much just clueless about it, sicne i don't really READ blogs myself. I don't know how small blogs work. I don't have a lot of connections to people.
what is the best way to keep my 4chan folder synced between my desktop and my pc? i'm looking for something that can be done over the local network, not dropbox.
windows gui is preferred, but linux cli would be fine as well.
How do I turn my USB into something like an HDD with arch(never used it but seems alright). Just please don't refer me to the wiki, I don't speak autism and I hate their
>le, lets distract you for a while because you can use this 6 gorillions of alternatives
so tldr: a straight forward guide on how make my USB a persistent OS running probably arch, scripts welcome.
pic related will visit you tonight if you help me, I promise!
I haven't read any but from the titles you seem to write only about yourself. thats not intresting unless you are a hot as fuck popstar. write something that you figured out but at that time there wasn't any good art for it. another option is to link your crap to reddit, but make it subtle or they will blacklist your site.
if you're on windows, you can use YUMI to create a linux live usb with persistent storage. it even supports multiple operating systems on the same usb stick.
i'm sure there's similar software for linux, if i'm not mistaken it was called unetbootin
nah m8 checked that yumi and there is no persistent option. I don't want a liveCD. I want to create smth like a portable OS. Guess I will have to with, https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Installing_Arch_Linux_on_a_USB_key
I'm slowly making my way through HTML and CSS, are there any decent sets of practice exercises or challenges available on the web? All I seem to find involve at least some sort of JS, and I haven't got that far in my studies yet.
yeah, i confused YUMI and this software right here. it has the option for persistant storage.
Should I go for a home laptop, used business laptop, or used thinkpad? My needs:
>durability, just works, always
>word processing, DVD ROM playback, internet, skype
>15+ inch screen
>5+ hour battery
>comfy CPU, heat circulation, etc
>supplier has UK department for warranty/returns
My gut instinct is that a new product with a good reputation is a better gamble than a used product with a good reputation.
>My gut instinct is that a new product with a good reputation is a better gamble than a used product with a good reputation.
Classic hardware was made in America. New hardware is made in China.
I need a new battery for my laptop, which is this:
However my current one is 15v, this one is 14.4, with a different mAh, and Wh.
Is this still ok? It's the same model of computer
I'm a verypoorfag that needs to upgrade his mobo and processor in order to rise beyond my incredible 4gb RAM capacity... yes, it's that bad.
- ASUS P5Kc
- Core2 quad 2,66
- 4gb corsair DDR3 1,333
I'm thinking of getting:
- ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 for 95 euros
- AMD FX-4300, 3,8 for 80 euros
- 1x8Gb DDR3 for 40 euros
- Same video card because I'm poor as fuck
Am I overlooking something here? I feel like this would finally bring me back into somewhat modern times but I've been out of the upgrading game for so long I don't even know anymore.
Went to bed last night and everything was fine. Woke up and now my screen looks like this. Is there a way to fix it or is my screen fucked?
If you can't see it clearly because of my shifty camera it has discoloration starting about half inch from the top of the screen downwards.
Yo, /g/. I've been in and out of here lately. I've lost a ton of data and managed to restore some of it. As of now I'm trying to restore my music library, and I was wondering if there's a program that allows me to see which folders in a directory have files in them and what size the files are. Seaching through each individual folder for the possibility of corrupted files is very time consuming.
I think there was a program that had a dog on it or something that might have been able to help me out. I just don't remember it. Thanks in advance.
Hi /g/, poorfag here, how could I cheaply upgrade my PC without having to not eat 4 months? many told me the graphic card should be enough for some years (is this true?) but what about the cpu?
thank you all in advanced.
That whole thing is garbage. Literally none of it is salvageable. That CPU and GPU isn't even enough to emulate gameboy games, let alone real games.
The most important thing to start with is a new CPU/mobo/RAM/ PSU, then new GPU, HDD, etc.
I could play some games so far, but upgrading also mobo, ram psu etc sounds like a lot of money - is there a cheap way to get away with like only cpu or something? thank you anon.
>is there a cheap way to get away with like only cpu or something?
Err there is but that means pooling your money into an obsolete CPU with minimal performance gains. It would be better if you just saved your money and did everything at the same time.
The motherboard doesn't have to be expensive. The only expensive motherboards are the ones that come loaded with features(that most other boards also have). RAM is cheap(er). PSU is pretty essential, and you only have to upgrade that once or twice. If you don't have a lot of money right now, you may as well wait until you have a bit more to work with. Chances are your motherboard might not support many upgrades.
Are there any basic motherboards that dont cost much but accept most upgrades? And is there maybe a full upgrade list somewhere that isnt 600$ but less, because that would take me ages to scratch together.
So this CPU would be the minimal performance gain cpu?
I got my Gigabye B85M-DS3H for about 40 bucks. It doesn't overclock or support SLI/Crossfire, but I can fit most upgrades on there. The motherboard is rather small, so just look out for that if you're planning on getting a heatsink/fan installed. Space can get tight.
Can someone explain this chart to me? How is there one IP address available at 255.255.255.255 for example?
I thought 256 didn't exist
The different cock.li mail domains are pretty fun, but if you're going to depend on it professionally, I know know if it's trustworthy enough.
Otherwise just this
- be warned that hosting your own email server can be troublesome though.
What language would you guys recommend for simple file manipulation? I have a load of data from simulations, and I need to:
-rename them based on the structure and content of their file names.
-concatenate some of them into single files, with reference to a directory of other data files (primarily resumed simulations, so I check a directory if a simulation with the same parameters, found from the regular file names, exists, and, if so, check if the current object has resumed from the point that run stopped).
-generate gnuplot scripts for some of it
-possibly carry out simple analysis of some of the file contents, comparing between files, or generating new files (e.g., in a tab delimited data file, taking the 6th column from File A, and the 6th column from File B, and printing the difference between their values to File C).
I should be able to parse the filenames via regex, although their conventions are from years ago, and were not designed to be parse-able.
I don't have much experience with scripting/file management, and whilst I could write a more complete programme, I get the feeling pythony, ruby, or something similar might be a better choice - am I right in thinking this?
do I keep my 290 or sell it off? I don't use it much since I leave it at home when I go off to school 5 hours away, so it just sits there 90% of the time
I can get $240 for it (Canada), probably more if I waited, but I leave soon
next time I'm home, which is May, there might be more info on Pascal, which might lower the price is 390/390x
>Don't sell it until you replace it.
I still have my 560ti which can handle 99% of my needs (shitposting and BF4 on low)
I only bought the 290 a few months ago and I regret not getting a 290x or 390x
I need a vesa mount that goes onto this. What the fuck is this mount called? It's an adjustable desk stand thingy
there isn't a problem really, I just don't need it and by the time I can actually use it (probably the summer), other options might be similar price
eg in the summer, a 390/390x might be $300, whereas a 290 will probably be $200 flat. if I sell my 290 for $250 right now, I can upgrade later or just get another 290 and save $50
I won't be using the 290 most of the time anyway so it seems like a waste
I am building my first PC and my ASUS GTX 950 came in the mail today.
Is this normal? Looks like something is missing but is there supposed to be anything in the package other than the GPU itself and manuals?
Thanks if you respond.
What a shitty answer.
>You have choices about the data we collect... may decline... cannot decline and use feature where it is required for a feature to operate
So what is the minimum amount that you can make it collect short of not using it altogether?
I took the bag out myself to see if there was something under it (there were the manuals).
Are the cables something I need to build the PC or just spares? I don't have all the pieces yet so i can't check what I have or not, but if I don't need them I may just suck it up and keep it since I don't want to go through all the procedure.
I'm not sure for the 950, for higher end cards you normally have adapters for 2*6-pin power to 1*8-pin, SLI bridges, and anything else you might need. I'm not sure if that applicable to 950s though.
Make a decision when you know the price? Unless the price is skyhigh, I don't think there'll be any difficulty in reselling it whether unopened or used. There might even be a profit if stocks don't meet demand.
Do laptop batteries die faster if you keep them in the laptop while it's plugged in versus just leaving them on a shelf?
My laptop's battery died within a year and I got a new one recently so I could go outside for a research project. I'm wondering if I should keep the battery disconnected until I need it, or just leave it plugged in?
Pic related, it's my laptop. I use it as my main computer so it's plugged in almost 24/7
It may just be that they have an universal package but don't put all the optionals in the lower end cards so it remains empty. I'll just wait for the other parts to come and mount it and if I have some problem look into it further.
Thanks a lot guys.
>Do laptop batteries die faster if you keep them in the laptop while it's plugged
Yes. My laptop used to last longer when I actually used it as a laptop. Nowadays it dies within 30 minutes and sometimes I get random percentages.
It shows like 70% and then drops to 3% within seconds.
how do I force win7 to acknowledge longer directory names/URLs and not fuck it up? are there any hacks that fix this retarded feature?
That's just anecdotal though. The only thing close to an official word I've seen is here http://www.wired.com/2013/09/laptop-battery which claims that the ideal charging cycle is 80% - 40% - 80%.
However, I remember someone posting a research paper here which showed that batteries will degrade over time on their own, and the damage caused by keeping it plugged in is not significant.
It depends of the maker.
I have a MSI laptop For one year and half, and only 4 percent of battery wearing. Some laptops dont charge the battery if it's full and just switch to the AC adapter.
Should i sell my KORG Electribe SX for an AKAI APC 40 MK2?
I worked with FL Studio for 4 years or so now and so far made music just for fun and the KORG was enough for that. Now i wanna switch to Ableton, which i don't really know, yet, but i think it won't be too hard to learn and i feel like the APC isn't as limited as the KORG and will give me more options.
Is there any trustable malware I can install to give me discrete control over a windows computer?
I have full access to the 'hacked' computer.
>inb4 write your own
I'm obviously not good enough (yet).
If you go looking you should be able to find plenty of 'kits', which allow you to compile derivative, custom, malware.
I'm not sure what you mean by trustable, pre-compiled malware will almost always try to botnet the computer you install it on, whilst providing you with the services you require.
I hope you have your 'hacked' PC as a VM, or in a suitably isolated DMZ, as it'll almost certainly try to send worms out over the network. Not fun if your PCs get infected, even less fun if the ISP notices, and thinks you're trying to infect the world.
Honestly, if you're asking here, you should probably spend some more time reading up (and learning how to write) malware, /g/ isn't really the community. There are some visible blackhat malware communities, and plenty white/grey hat malware/infosec communities.
Not so much a question, but more looking for advice.
What can I do to improve this?
No/unlikely. Unless the graphics drivers offer a utility to do this (and change the GPU to a pass-through of some sort) you can't easily. Older laptops with VGA (analogue) input/outputs can be directly used as second monitors, with suitable drivers.
I seem to recall you can also use Macbooks as second monitors when connected to another device running OSX, although it might just be iMac->iMac.
If you're really interested in it, you can hack a solution, which would require you to remove the laptop screen, and solder in some sort of switch to the screen, either connecting to the laptop, or to a digital input - not sure how simple this would be (if possible at all).
If you don't mind a bit of latency you can set it up as a psuedo second screen over a network, there are some existing programmes for this, but I've never looked at them in any detail.
So I'm browsing porn and opening images in tabs as they load up. A few minutes go by, and I choose then to save the images to the Desktop, but they start download all over again as I do that. It seems that the browser, or server, or whatever else can only store the image for so long before it has to download it all over again.
I'm just wondering if someone can explain this to me.
What is it exactly that causes the image to re-download after a set time?
Can I change it?
Here's an example link!
I have 2 sim cards (work and personal)
I don't want to be limited to dual sim phones.
I rarely use my personal number, but I'll forward my number to my work-number.
But what about SMS? Can i forward them? I only use SMS for 2-factor-authentication messages (cant use app authenticator for all)
Can i get sms's emailed to me, or forward them to another number?
I need a laptop, my price range is around 800$. before you tell me to build a desktop my job involves travelling alot, like half of the year I'm out of the country. I do play some games so it'd be nice if it didn't overheat too much.
I have a Dell Inspiron with an i5-5200U and a GeForce 820M. Would a A10-7400P be any better at all? I like the matte screen and it has a better hard drive than my shitty Dell.
I open a link containing an image in a new tab. The image loads, and then I choose to open another link containaing another image. I keep going and open ten tabs. Then I choose to download the first image in the first tab by dragging it to the desktop. Normally, dragging it to the Desktop would save it instantly presuming the image was loaded fully. But a few minutes have gone by since loading the image, and because of that, the image needs to be downloaded again.
I don't know why this is. Is the browser, or the website, or something else.
I just want to understand it.
Just generally I'd like to deconstruct each element from that webpage and understand what code does what.
Is this only with sadpanda?
If so, check the resolution of the downloaded image, compared to that of the image displayed in the browser.
Secondly, check that the downloaded image corresponds to that in the browser, and not the next image in the gallery.
i have a problem with my wireless that it won't connect to any mobile phones right away and it work after reconnecting several times
i fixed it using app called WifiFixer but is there a way to fix it without using any third-party apps ?
>Is this only with sadpanda?
I'm not sure. I feel like I remember this happening on other websites. Sorry I'm not able to test it just now.
>If so, check the resolution of the downloaded image, compared to that of the image displayed in the browser.
It's the exact same resolution. When the image is successfully downloaded, there's no problem.
>Secondly, check that the downloaded image corresponds to that in the browser, and not the next image in the gallery.
What do you mean? No it's the same image as the one chosen to download.
So I found this old PC case in garbage.
It booted fine, but the issue is it have two optical drives.
When I press the eject button or use the eject command, the optic drive bay don't open, it makes sound as if it tries to open but it doesn't.
I can open it with pin though.
Can it be salvaged?
Okay, really odd then, as you don't have to reload the page in order to see the image it's necessarily cached.
It's not a sadpanda thing, as I just checked on my side. Could it be a user script, that's using its own caching rather than the browser caching, so when the browser looks for a cached image it can't find one? If you have webcomic viewer, or another viewing addon installed disable it and see if the problem persists.
On a different note, since when did you have to wait 5 minutes to re-authorise your 4jew pass after changing networks/IPs? Really irritating.
Probably, take off the casing and see what the issue is. If you can't be bothered, give the drive a helping hand and pry it open a bit whilst telling it to eject, most likely just just friction, which a bit of oil will solve.
I found these two and seem to be sort of what I need, are they bad choices?
To further explain it, I open a link containing an image and it loads up in a matter of seconds. The image doesn't go anywhere of course. It just stays there on the page. If it were to wait a few minutes and then drag it onto the desktop, it should save straight away as the image has been downloaded. But it re-downloads again - this time, onto the Desktop.
I can't explain it.
Have a look at my add-ons. Using Firefox v38.
What about greasemonkey scripts, anything there that could be causing it? Say, something that precaches sequential pages into its own cache?
Otherwise see if the sadpanda thread on /a/ knows anything, weird issue.
There's just the one greasemonkey script - 4chanX.
I'll try disabling it sometime in the next few days to check to see if it's the cause.
If not, I might try the sad-panda forums.
What's the size of the cache? Is it even enabled?
Also, as usual, try with an empty profile and report back.
If it's working properly, it's most likely a problem with a preference in your profile.
Wouldn't be 4chanX. Sadpanda forums are a shithole, check /a/ first, they do offer techhelp sometimes.
Double check your cache settings, see if it's set to flush frequently or something.
Says, make a clean profile and see what happens.
Might even be worth making a clean install elsewhere on the drive, firefox installations can break in the oddest of ways.
It's all about marketing yourself. Clickbaity stuff is annoying but it works, so if you write in a provocative way (especially using a clever title of some sort), your articles will get more views.
What's the verdict on running your OS off of an SSD?
I was thinking about getting a mini-SATA SSD for my laptop to increase boot speed, but I remember seeing an argument here about whether or not the number of writes a system drive does will significantly limit an SSD's lifespan or not.
It's a substantial upgrade, and, while it's true SSDs have a limited number of writes, you'd have to write terabytes and terabytes 24h/24 over a decade to have it fail.
Just go for it.
If I want to render a repeating background in say SDL and the background image is actually small, is it more effective to render it many times or should I use a bigger version of the image with a repeated pattern and render that a few times?
What do you guys think is the #1 laptop for plebs right now?
I'm doing some research on some laptops for someone who won't be able to fix it if something were to happen.
Did anyone recently assist their family/friends in the purchasing of a durable pleb-top?
Is the thread watcher fucked up for anyone else? It shows the same threads from weeks and months ago every time I restart my browser, and it's not consistent across boards (sometimes some of the threads are gone on different boards). I've already cleared my cookies (relating to 4chan).
I have legit photoshop with cracked amtlib.dll and since I cracked it, my edits won't update until I try to move them myself (e.g. when selecting, if I don't move the selection with the move tool a little, it won't update as I select). Anyone got any idea how to solve this, is very fucking annoying.
Does it have IDE? If so it could be a master/slave thing maybe.
Western Digital is fine. I hear a lot of crap about Seagate. I had an OCZ SSD die on me 3 days ago so I don't like them a whole lot.
Posted this question in a topical thread and got no answer, now I'm curious:
>>The Pirate Bay is just an fbi and interpol honeypot now
>Question: am I too dumb, or is everyone who keeps repeating the honeypot meme? If you use public trackers, everyone can already see your IP address. What would be the added benefit of keeping The Pirate Bay as a honeypot?
Perhaps the stick or the slot are broken? Play around to isolate the point of failure. Stick the new RAM into other slots or other computers. Does it always fail? Just sometimes?
I'm making my first custom build, and want to buy custom sleeved cables. I've bought an MSI z97 Krait Edition motherboard and an Asus Turbo GTX 970 GPU.
My question is, if I buy two 6+2pin cables, will they both plug into the GPU and 8pin slot near the processor on the motherboard without issues?
TL;DR: will any 6+2pin PSU power cable plug into anything with 8 slots without a problem?
It's a meme. Some people on /g/ just love to throw around words like botnet and honeypot. That said, I tend to avoid using public trackers because copyright advocate companies monitor the swarms for popular torrents on them. I got dinged twice by the Copyright Alert System after downloading some movies from TPB, but they never got any notices about the relatively obscure porn I got from there too.
In theory, if I were to get a higher core count processor (like, an 8-core extreme edition i7, not a 90-core amd thing). Would it be likely to last longer, in terms of performing well (so barring just general failure). How long does would it generations would it take a standard i7 (6700k level) to catch up to the extreme editions?
Using W7, is the "recommended resolution" for a display the native resolution? I'm using a Samsung HDTV at 1080p but it says the recommended res is 1366x768. Could this fuck shit up?
Will try to answer others while I'm here.
Well, also MS Office and the like.
On phone and I cant figure this out. Trying to install windows on a single drive via usb, I fucked up the formatting somehow with diskpart and now the bios and installation are seeing my HDD as two separate ones, one uefi and the other one s9mething else. I can install windows on the uefi part but the rest isnt seen in windows after the install.
Cant fix it no matter what I do. How can I format everything as one and convert it to gpt so I can vet a proper installation? Cant figure out how to repartition everything properly.
So I have to take the optical drive a part?
What part do need oiling ? The eject mechanism?
Yeah, its a very old pc some of the documents here are created in 2005.
Even the Google Cardboard (I recommend an aliexpress ripoff) is worth it for the porn. There is a decent amount of porn out, and VR porn really is damn good.
I've found that the best VR porn for smartphones comes from VirtualRealPorn, you can either get the subscription, or just go with torrents.
>what's wrong with gmail
>don't tell me, I already know, but I want to justify my laziness and complacency
I can't remember, is it possible to subscribe using pre-paid or gift visas? I'm down to pay for that shit, but The idea of only being able to subscribe with my credit card through sketchy third party "discrete" sites stops me from subscribing to pretty much any porn.
YO question about USB TYPE C:
what refresh rate does it support?
i know it can go up to 5k resolution but slows down the transmit rate to 2.0
but WHATS THE REFRESH RATE?
Write a script in your favorite language.
If you can't do that, you shouldn't probably mess with other peoples computers which is what you most absolute probably are wanting to do.

Unless you're running your own encrypted mail server, there's no privacy guarantee anywhere you fat fuck.
Google already knows everything of you, having a side piece of it isn't going to change shit
I've been getting tons of random errors as seen from my logs recently and when I play online games my pc will randomly cut off and restart after playing for 10-20 minutes? I also can't for the life of me install Windows 10, it stalls at 32% EVERYTIME. I've taken out my gpu and unplugged all USB devices and disabled my anti virus and turned off the internet during the install process. Are these two issues possibly linked? And would updating my bios be a possible solution?
The hard drive enclosure I bought from a third party Amazon seller came with a USB-A to USB-A cable instead of the y-cable I wanted. Which option should I choose when I file the claim?
>you made me feel stupid, I bet you're a fat neckbeard
>google knows everything about me, so they know everything about you too
I have a bunch of USB external drives on a USB 3.1 hub because my mobo is lacking in the SATA and USB ports I need, but often they randomly dismount when I seed torrents from them, is there any way to prevent this? I think it's something to do with the drives not "waking up" fast enough when data needs to be retrieved from them or something like that, or some timeout related thing, can I tweak this somehow?
Well I have been monitoring my temps on my cpu and gpu and they are just fine, its also not a power supply problem. This has been an issue for over a week now and I've been trying everything. I recently installed new ram and a gtx 980 and that when this shit started. I've run memory tests and the ram seems to be working.
Not really. People with a life don't have shit to hide. Google isn't interested in your average Joe.
Unless you're something different of course. Like a 2D anime loli wanking faggot.
i got gifted a laptop £200+ from cash converters (yep) and who gifted me it went to take it back 'cause it was too expensive for something like that. luckily it was mismarketed as 1.8GHz when it's actually 1.4GHz, so it was a fraudulent sale thus breaking the terms and coniditions of not being allowed to make returns. well they aren't taking it back lmao, what do i do? that's illegal isn't it surely?
Oooof, that is so much the job of a 5 line script that I doubt a program just for this exists.
Maybe some extended file manager like total commanders could do this with an extended search and replace functionality, but I don't know for certain.
Run a stresstest on your HDD. Signs are exactly the things you mentioned: failing under heavy stress and stuck at installations.
It could also be a faulty driver but I doubt it
um y'know for the price of those externals and hub, you probably could've gotten a reliable terrorbite drive and an sata expansion card
other than that, you really shouldn't be seeding from or torrenting directly to an external unless you want to kill it's lifespan
zte mf90+ off eBay should be decently cheap.
I read the Russian review and it's pretty good for the shekels.
Since it seem these things are only being sold in Russian, and being a Slav (though one that doesn't live in slavland) i understand why.
>Not really. People with a life don't have shit to hide. Google isn't interested in your average Joe.
They better give me their credit number then.
>Unless you're something different of course. Like a 2D anime loli wanking faggot.
Are you implying that if the other poster was a 3D anime loli wanking faggot it was going to be legit?
>people care about their privacy because of "something to hide"
Please recommend me a decent diagnosis tool for windows. I need something that records every hardware activity of my machine and saves everything into a log file. Specifically, I want to know if my machine overheats before it shuts down.
Does anyone here use MPC-HC and livestreamer?
MPC-HC keeps pausing when I lock my computer and it fucks up livestreamer.
Is there any way to make it so that it doesn't pause when I lock my computer so the livestream keeps going.
You mean like a .bat file? If it's not too long, can you tell me how it should approximately look like? It can be as simple as "randomize all files in this folder to a 9 digit number"
You know what I mean. Of course people have shit to hide, but nothing of interest for Google. It would be foolish not to use Google for the sole purpose of "muh privacy"
You're no different than the other 10mil users of Gmail. It's not like people at the Google's HQ browse through your mail personally.
But whatever man, if you wanna be a tinfoil, so be it. Gmail is currently the best public mail service on the internet.
I'm not even PrePrePoster, but they better don't come cry after they get raped by advertisement, since they trusted a glorified ad company.
No, sorry, I usually use stuff like Perl, so I don't really know stuff about .bat files.
On the upside, a first search revealed that .bat can do random numbers, so keep searching, it should be possible.
Is Youtube video playback seriously this resource intensive?
My FX 8320 gets nearly as hot as when I'm playing muh vidya while playing a 1080p 60fps video.
Pic related is after about 30 minutes.
I don't really care about lifespan, everything is backed up and I can just replace the drive. It's 5 externals (2 in a 2-bay enclosure) here adding up to around 10TB storage so it's hard to replace them all with a single drive without spending a bunch.
It just adds up over time. Games (both PC and for various consoles/emulators) movies, TV shows, anime, other programs and shit, also a bunch of random large stuff I downloaded or freeleeched on private trackers to get buffer.
How do I know if my PC is part of a botnet?
Porn is actually one of the only things I don't really compulsively hoard, honestly. Mostly because after I jack off to something a few times I usually am not that interested in revisiting it again, and I don't really generate a porn "backlog" the same way I would for movies or TV shows that would justify collecting it.
Aren't you kind of forced to lately with all the reliance on gameworks they're pushing? It's real bastard tier shit but as an AMD owner myself I often wish I got Nvidia so I wouldn't be shafted so hard every time a publisher does this.
I have a few videos that I kind of go back to if I can't find something decent.
They're mostly shots of women pissing while fucking themselves with a dildo at the same time. It's rare and muh dick becomes diamonds every time.
There's also one video where a chick opens her pussy with a speculum, drops a raw egg in there and then pulls the speculum out while the egg is still in there.
I don't even know why, but I cum in seconds.
Do it slowly and and only after you've reached the maximum core speed.
GPU overclocking is always core speed first and then memory.
>What possible consequences are there?
Frying it sooner than without overclocking. That's always the consequence. Might not happen in years, though.
I've always overclocked my stuff and the last build worked fine for 7 years before I replaced it.
The one part that finally died on it was the PSU and not the overclocked stuff.
Would you know what would indicate the maximum? I know to use a benchmark test, but what should I look for besides I guess crashing during the test? Should I keep GPU Tweak 2 Monitor open and just keep an eye on that or is there a more direct route?
Just keep an eye on the heat and obviously crashing.
If it starts to crash under stress testing, go 5% lower and that should be your maximum.
Furmark is not a reliable stress test because it loads the GPU with unreasonable amounts of work.
There is not direct route. Overclocking to the max is always a long road with many setbacks.
Just make sure to take small steps and do it over and over again until you reach the ceiling.
OK well I was planning on purchasing an ssd anyways so this might just be my ticket although I really don't want to purchase it and find out my hard drive was not the issue and I still have a broken pc :(
This just started happening a few days ago and is on pretty much everything-- what can I do to fix it?
Don't overvolt if you're not experienced. Overvolting is where you really begin to get into the smelling burnt electronics area.
It's tempting because it will give you stable overclocks where your system crashed before, but it also might kill your stuff if you're not careful.
I have a sticker on my screen that tells me not to overvolt when I'm drunk, because I've done it before.. Imagine what happened..
I'm not sure m8, I'm just speculating the most possible reason.
Speedfan has a quick SMART test that shows the health status of your HDD without putting it under stress. I think it also has a heavy stress test.
Otherwise there are enough tools that put your HDD under heavy stress.
390, unless you find the 970 for much cheaper. No point in buying old gen, and 3.5GB may be a meme but if you have the choice to buy an equivalent card for the same price that does not suffer from this problem, you should.
>get audio technica headphones
>detachable cable, dude nice
>comes with proprietary connector so I have to use their branded cables
anyone know what this is called or if it's some standard? It looks like standard 1/8th jack but is a bit smaller.
I'll be careful. Thanks for the info.
I'm going to look into overclocking more; before I was just bumping it up a little, matched with the core speed and things seemed okay. I need more power out my 380X so I don't have to choose between slideshow mode or potato mode for Planetmans 2.
Why do you need to spend all that money on a motherboard if you're feeding it shit hardware? But a trash 40$ motherboard and so be it
Otherwise get the pentium 20th anniversary edition for 60$ and a 40$ motherboard
Only the freshest of bread
Mac Mini owners anyone? Preferably any who run Plex or any sort of media server on them?
Apple likely have some new mac minis coming out, pretty much want to have one running 24/7 for streaming locally. The lot on the Plex forums go on a lot about processing speed for transcoding, but most of my stuff I've already converted to h264 anyway. There are also a handful of refurbished 2014 i5 models which might be up to task. Wondering if anyone was doing a similar thing with them?
So im looking to upgrade my GPU and ram on my desktop. My motherboard can accept DDR3 ram and PCI express 1.0 cards, would it even be worth it to throw 16 gigs of ram and a GTX 970 on it or should i just give in and buy a new motherboard? I also have a 750 PSU but im not sure if I'd need a new one. Any suggestions?
My mom had her wallet stolen out of her purse when she wasn't paying attention at Whole Foods yesterday, she's been pretty broken up about it so I've been helping her get her stuff back in order, anything you guys would recommend besides the obvious? So far gone down the list and called every credit card/bank account she owns to have the cards issued (inconvenient as fuck, wish there was some "freeze everything" number you could call) and issued a fraud alert with Experian so they can't apply for any new credit in her name (though I don't think they got her social security card) went in for a new license at the DMV this morning, will need to apply for new insurance cards and whatnot soon as well but is there anything else we should be doing to minimize the impact of this?
