16:10 and 16:9 are resolutions for gamers and weeaboo, the objectively best resolution if you have a job or aren't a sad sack is 1280x1024
>best res for multitasking without your windows being ugly and elongated
>best res for emailing, word processing and spreadsheets
1920x1080 + 1366x768 dual monitor masterrace.
The 768p screen always runs a maximized browser, while the 1080p screen usually shows my desktop, runs my games and gets my work done.
I can't image having a maximized browser on a 1080p or higher screen. The wasted space must be awful.
You can't even display 2 full pages of documents on that trash. 16:9 monitors became so popular after the retards fell for the "full HD" marketing instead of actually looking at the resolution
I was happy with 1280 x 1024 back in the XP days...
These days, it's 1366 x 768 on my laptop and 1600 x 900 on my desktop.
Honestly, the only reason these resolutions "work" is that most TV is produced for 16:9 now.
An Aikido practitioner is practically invincible, no one of any martial arts background can ever land a punch or kick on one.
Using the power of the attacker, the Aikido practitioner uses absolutely no energy to knock them down.
A fearsome martial arts it is.
- Cheaper to produce since more parts can be used
- retards do not understand that 1920x1200 is superior to 1920x1080 as both are marketed as "full HD"
You are literally what's wrong with /g/ today, go back to where you came from.
sorry, I was retarded. I envied the screen aspect of mac...
Stop being a fucking weeb. Just say Chinese characters, because that's what they fucking are. Read the same (basically), but spoken differently, nevertheless, it's still Chinese.
If he's reading Japanese then it's kanji. Who gives a shit if it's stolen from Japanese?
We don't call the English alphabet "the classical Latin alphabet", it's the fucking English alphabet. Autist.
4k should be the standard already
I'm using my 1600p rMBP and I feel sorry for anyone with a "standard" resolution at or below 1080p. We'd be at 1080p still if apple didn't drag us into the next century by marketing "retina" resolution displays.
Because 死 in Chinese as well as Japanese means death.
In Spanish burro means donkey and in Italian it means butter.
>thinking Chinese is [s]derived[\s] stolen from Japanese
>being this much of a fucking weeb
On desktop, main 1080p + secondary 720p is the bare minimum. Dual 1080p is a sweet spot for comfort and bang for buck. From there it's up to taste, some people like having three or four 1080p monitors, others might prefer two 1440p screens, others still a single ultrawide monitor.
On mobile, 1366x768 is cheap trash. 1600x900 is bearable. 1080p is standard. Anything better than that (eg. Apple's 2880x1600, the popular 3200x1800) is nice to have.
On a 4-inch phone, 720p is standard. 1080p is nice, but unnecessary. Anything higher than that is simply a joke.
I was using a 1600p display years before the "retina" marketing was coined. I won't deny that Apple have done something to further high-resolution displays in the mobile space, but we'd have high-resolution displays on desktops even if Apple didn't exist. If nothing else, they'd still be feverishly pushed by GPU manufacturers.
If he's reading Japanese he's not only reading Kanji, which is inherently Chinese. He would better have said he can read Japanese just fine. A Chinese speaker could look at Japanese texts and get the idea through the reading of the Chinese characters alone (Kanji literally means Chinese characters).
Again, who gives a shit? If you're reading those characters when they're used in Japanese, they're called kanji. I couldn't give a single shit if the symbols or meanings aren't original. You're not reading Latin when you're reading this post, are you?
>thinking Chinese is [s]derived[\s] stolen from Japanese
That was a typo which I quickly corrected, l2readingcomprehension
where the fuck do you think you are? lmao
Kanji is more complex than kana and hence more challenging to read on a low-resolution screen, so it was probably worth specifying.
Japanese people are reading Chinese.
Kanji is Chinese characters.
Therefore when you read kanji you are reading Chinese. You're right, we don't read Latin when reading English because we're reading English, but Chinese and Japanese aren't an alphabet, so it really is pointless comparing an alphabet to ideograms.
>Japanese people are reading Chinese.
Wrong. Kanji is mostly, but not 100% the same as Chinese (about 80%, iirc). There's lots of examples of kanji and Chinese characters that look the same, but have different meanings.
>everybody nostalgic for 4:3 and 1024x768
>shit on 1366x768 when it's just a 16:9 1024x768
Sure, SolidWorks isn't very good, but it's not like Autodesk is much better. Not better enough to get your panties in a twist about it, at any rate.
This is actually what I've always wondered. How come "fast" twitch games feel so much better on low resolutions? Placebo, or does it actually affect something? 1024x768 feels amazing.
framerates beyond your monitors' refresh rate can improve the effective visual latency
it has nothing to do with resolution, it's just that your're getting higher framerates at 1024x768
>the objectively best resolution if you have a job or aren't a sad sack is 1280x1024
nigga most program interfaces won't even fit in that resolution. Working in After Effects or even stupid Illustrator at anything below 1920x1200 is PAIN
using this thread as an excuse to check my own resolution
because it's the baseline standard for laptops these days and UI elements end up looking right on it because no one can into high-DPI
too many settings windows extend off the screen with 600 height these days (and by these days, I mean like, post-2005, long after 1024x768 became the de-facto baseline size for laptop screens)
