With dx12 games coming out soon, as well as the assumption vulkan will offer a similar feature set, would an a8 or a10 APU offer better value and performance than an i3 in future titles?

But with directx 12 it doesn't matter.
It takes advantage of any gpu in your system, including the igpu.

A8 7600 has almost same dx12 cpu performance as an i3 4170, but a much stronger igpu, while also being 40 aud cheaper.

Huh. This makes me want to look more into my laptop. The model I bought has an option for discrete graphics + A8, or just A8. I went for just the A8 because it was on sale for $199 (regularly $399) but the version with discrete graphics was $449.

Time to find out what graphics cards will work and how to install them. I'm pretty sure there's just a free pci-e slot.

But if the games you play were not properly developed for a dual gpu set up wouldn't you still get frame stutters, the main reason dual gpu configs suck? I'm assuming frame stutter is the devs fault, I don't know shit about tech tbqh senpai

It's no longer up to amd to set up multiGPU profiles, it's a part of dx12.
I'm not too sure about the specific details but iirc the developers have to implement it.
That being said, the a8 is still 40 aus cheaper amd will have an edge in any game that uses multiadapter, and at worst be 1 or 2 frames behind the i3.
Take a look at pic, the gpu on the processor is being wasted, especially on an apu.

I know mpcie bandwidth is limited by the pcie 1x, but I'm still curious if they'll release an mpcie gt 920m or something for laptops once dx12 and vulkan become mainstream.

Most likely won't happen but I still think it's an interesting idea.

Multi-adapter and being able to use the combined GPU power from different vendors is entirely dependent on the game developer. Drivers have fuck-all to actually do with it.

Now think, just how many PC developers do you think there are that will put that much time into their game to get this feature working at an acceptable level?

A tri core zen should outperform a cabby lake dual core i3.
