What's the difference between Lenovo and IBM Thinkpads and which do you prefer?
IBM thinkpad is ded
IBM ThinkPads don't have a warranty honored by IBM.
Lenovo ThinkPads do.
>>52238282
I fucking hate anime but this girl is so QT. I think I'm in love with a cartoon.
>>52238312
>warranty honored by IBM
>he thinks this means IBM engineers will personally fix your chinkpads
IBM: old as fuck, nice keyboard and design
Lenovo: Newer, with utter shit keyboards
If you get an IBM good luck doing anything with it except looking at wikipedia
>>52238326
IBM pays contractors to drive to your house and replace parts on your ThinkPads.
Or if it's something retardedly easy, like a keyboard replacement, they'll just give you the part and let you to fix it yourself.
That's a Snap-On tier warranty right there.
>>52238314
>I fucking hate anime
>>52238314
That's me dude
>>52238366
I think he hates the people he associates with anime. if that's the case then me too
>>52238398
Yeah pretty much, pretty much everyone who anime posts outside of /a/ is autistic.
I've also never seen the point in overly optimistic cartoons for adults either though.
>>52238282
IBM thinkpads stopped being manufactured around 2004.
The latest model, T43, uses a Pentium M, is a souped up Pentium 3, meaning it lacks cpu features like nx bit, pae, and sse2.
You can't run modern operating systems on them and the only purpose to keep using them is to flaunt your autistic hipster pride.
T4x models also had a nagging design flaw in where the motherboard could be snapped in half if you lifted the computer from the front with 1 hand.
>>52238326
IBM engineers come to my house for dinner regularly.
It's like you don't work in tech, anon.
>>52238356
Lenovo Thinkpad are like desktops in the desktop thread. They look nice with their matte black n shit but are utterly useless for everyday workloads
>>52239051
Agreed, have to recommend Dell Latitudes over Thinkpads nowadays
>Bundles vanilla Windows instead of the bloated monstrocity Lenovo ships
>Doesn't give users malware
>Actually have good solid keyboards and hardware, very easy to customize, lots of parts, batteries etc available for every model
I have a 5 year old e6410 that takes a LOT of abuse every day but still works great. I can probably milk another few years of life out of it too.
>>52238356
If you include the Lenovo-manufactured ThinkPads that still have the IBM logo and design, then maxing out the CPU and RAM and adding an SSD is enough to make a decent laptop for general productivity stuff. My X60 can run Eclipse, Firefox, and LibreOffice at the same time, which is more than most people need. Anyone here should have a desktop to do the heavy lifting anyway.
>>52239228
Lenovo Thinkpads up to the *20 series still have the old keyboards, and they have Sandy Bridge processors.
>>52238282
the real question is how the fuck is she a fifth grader
>>52239257
she's not
>>52239248
That they do, but they don't have the IBM logo for coffeeshop cred, nor are they available for $45 on eBay.
>>52239276
>Hotaru is a fifth grade elementary school student who transfers into the Asahigaoka Branch School from Tokyo.
http://myanimelist.net/character/54145/Hotaru_Ichijou
>>52239257
i think the real question is how komari still fits into her fifth grade swimsuit
>>52239179
No one who buys thinkpads actually use Windows. You stupid fucking cuck.
The second I got my thinkpad I deleted Windows and installed Linux.
>>52239374
>>52239412
>Koma chan
All these lolis are so cute
>>52239477
Maybe the tiny minority of Thinkpad users who are from /g/ and are CS Majors/NEETs? Everyone else uses Windows because it runs the things that Thinkpads were made for (Office, stock trading software etc). Retard.
>>52239519
don't sexualize the non nons!
>>52238441
>overly optimistic cartoons for adults
How is it that retarded normies like you can comprehend idea of different genres in music or movie industry, yet fail to apply this same idea to anything else.
>>52239614
most adults have the idea that all cartoons are children's fare
they're not wrong, you know
>>52239179
I have the exact same laptop. Build quality is shit but the rest is fine. The new XPS and Latitudes are great though
>>52239614
Norms HATE it when you enjoy something that doesn't involve blowing all of their money getting black out drunk and being forever in debt or being cucked by their whore gf. So they have to call you a loser so they don't have to think about their own shortcomings
>>52239623
They are wrong though. And I don't mean chinese cartoons, western catroons aren't always for kids either.
It's like assuming every single song is either pop, rap or dubstep because that's what you mostly hear in TV. It's called ignorance and nothing to be proud of.
>>52239682
>It's called ignorance and nothing to be proud of.
Society proves you wrong.
Most people are proud of being computer illiterate, or math illiterate, or even literate illiterate, because "at least i'm not a nerd, LOL!".
I'm not joking, people really do act this way.
In my high school classes, it was completely normal to have trouble reading passages out loud if the word was longer than 6 characters in length.
>>52239741
Those are the 66% of your high school peers who will never get a degree, and be stuck making at or below median income. Unless they're female, in which case they can just marry someone with their shit together.
These are not people to model your life after.
>>52239795
My point is that "cartoons are for kids" mentality is a cultural norm that isn't going away
and no amount of justification to anyone will change that
>>52238465
>T4x models also had a nagging design flaw in where the motherboard could be snapped in half if you lifted the computer from the front with 1 hand.
daily drove T4s for a long time and this literally never happened
likewise they aren't totally useless unless your only usage of a computer is mindlessly sucking e-celeb cock on youtube or playing gaymes, in which case you shouldn't be here anyway
>>52239852
And my point is that the culture you're describing is largely composed of barely-functional people who are by and large uninteresting and, in any case, have almost no overlap with this Tibetan throat-singing message board.
>>52238282
MAMA
TADAIMA
>>52238282
>thinkpads in general
>>52239897
i want to reply to your post with a picture of an obese man tipping a trilby so hard
i bet you're the mental midget who posted this >>52239681 too, right?
>>52239897
Tibetan throat singing is awesome
>>52239963
No, I don't post anime outside anime boards.
I'm just saying that it's a bit pointless to discourage people from pursuing their interests on a message board dedicated to people pursuing their interests.
I am also easily baited and a bit slow due to recovering from a blackout-drunk party over the weekend.
>>52240034
>i don't post anime on an anime imageboard
well that's dumb
>I am also easily baited and a bit slow due to recovering from a blackout-drunk party over the weekend.
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>52239285
All the coffee shops around here everyone has macs.
>>52240034
I find most anime fans autistic, but the crossover between /g/ and anime creates the kind of autism I not only tolerate but truly and deeply connect with on at fundamental human level.
Don't take that from me.
>>52240104
That's why you need the IBM logo. You can out-hipster the hipsters, and it's even rainbow colored.
It also lets other /g/ folks recognize your elite meme mastery so you can both awkwardly avoid eye contact while sipping your cappuccinos.
>>52240192
>You can out-hipster the hipsters, and it's even rainbow colored.
Nobody is even hipstery enough to be impressed by that, they are all basic bitches in uggs, yoga pants, scarves with that weird shitty light material, pony tails, and with macbooks.
>>52240236
Fuck forgot tiny dogs and shitty hardcover 600 page mystery romance books.
>>52240236
Damn I said coffee shops not Starbucks.
>>52240276
Not just Starbucks, I walked into this place that serves water in mason jars in Portland Maine and saw multiple instances of that shit at the same time.
>>52238282
IBM Thinkpads didn't come preinstalled with malware.
>>52238314
Non-non-biyori ... I think. It's been a while.
>>52238441
Are you a newfag?
>>52239527
Why would they put workstation GPUs in laptops that were only meant to run Office?
>>52238314
>>52239477
>deleted Windows
