Which terminal emulator is least bloated and has most features? Which one are you using?

I am on urxvt right now.

>least bloated and has most features
what?
>>
just use whichever the fuck you want.

they are there for you the check out on your own.
>>
>>52226976
Features like unicode, scroll-back and copy to X buffer by mouse selection.
>>
>>52226923
>terminal emulator
>bloated
It's like time stopped back in 1993.
>>
>>52226923
terminator
urxvt
sakura
>>
urxvt is pretty much the winner here. It's tiny as fuck but has an incredible breadth of features.
>>
>>52227039
>>
>>52227075
Which GTK theme is that?
>>
>>52227085

not sure if bait

it's OS X / Darwin BSD, not Linux
>>
>>52226923
st is very not bloated
>>
lxterminal
>winrar
>>
>>52226923
Currently using terminology
just werks
easy to configure
Depends on elementary which makes it pretty bloated
>>
>>52226923
since I'm a wm user, there is no need for me to use terminator. urxvt was great and very customizable until it failed on me doing basic copy/pasting. now i'm using termite and it does the job. idk if you can run it on one of the *buntus though.
>>
>>52226923
Man, I really like that 80s green on black display, but I can't use it because dumbass normalfags would think I'm trying to be a hax0r or referencing the matrix or something gay like that.

terminator but right now am using xrvt for customization without limits
>>
>>52229067

is that retro theme already in urxvt? I want to try it out.
>>
>>52227347
This st is the only answer.
>>
>>52227025
urxvt probably
>>
>>52227347
>>52231992
it literally has no features, not even scrollback.
I could find it useful on a machine with very limited resources.

But on a regular desktop urxvtc (and a daemon running in the background) performs similarly if not better and has a SHITLOAD more features.
>>
>>52230207
Ian did
>>

too soon
>>

tmux?
>>
st has around 3kloc.
Why haven't your written your own terminal emulator yet?
>>
>>52232177
why bother with lighweight terminal emulator if you're going to need another piece of software to fill the feature void in the first place?
>>
We all use urxvt please sage
>>
urxvt

or termite when urxvt fucks something up (like doesn't properly recognize f-keys)
>>
>>52227025
st, has about ~4k lines of code, and you can add all of those features with patches
>>
>>52226923
probably the suckless one, st or something
cool-retro-term comes in at a close second
urxvt third
>>
suckless term because true color support :3
>>
I just tried using st for a few minutes. Can't apply patches. Can someone explain it to me?

I downloaded the 0.6 version, downloaded the 0.6 argb patch, ran
git apply st-0.6-argbbg.diff
, but when I run make it just throws a bunch of compiler errors.
Am I supposed to fix all this? Or am I missing something?
>>
>>52227075
Info on what Darwin is?
>>
>>52233546
the kernel of Apple's OS X
>>
>>52232617
nah dude, you apply patches in the same directory as the source file with:
patch < some-patch.diff
>>
>>52233635
Nope, those are git patches. I tried another patch and it worked, but the argbbg patch just doesn't want to work any way.
>>
>>52233684
Check the st version you downloaded, and the version in the patch, maybe? I've never gone through that process though, I usually git clone st in some dir, go to suckless' website, download the patches, and apply them in the way I described...
>>
>>52233715
I checked everything, tried latest git version, tried 0.6 version, tried patch and
git apply
. This is what I get: http://pastebin.com/fqG7NDs3
>>
I like st, but it fails on double width glyphs last I checked. I run into those at least a few times a month, so it's annoying.
>>
>>52233836
It's possible that patch might have deleted a couple of varible declarations, given those errors lol.

Try this sourcecode
http://sicp.me/u/f6D2u.gz
>>
>>52233947
btw, this one's already patched (and riced for that matter)
>>
>>52233947
I dunno, argbbg still doesn't work. I guess I'll stick with my already riced urxvt.
Thanks for the pre-riced st, though. Might serve as a good example for when I eventually switch to it and rice it myself.
>>
>>52226923
I looked at st, which shits on other terms for being "bloated" yet requires external patches to add missing features, and this is presented as a feature in of itself.
And these features are basic things, like scrollback or compatibility with stdin from an external program
Is this what autism looks like?
