Changes for the new year addition
Getting a new mobo and planning on water cooling.
tfw away from pc
At least I managed to fix WakeOnLan, so I can leave it in sleep mode and just turn it on whenever I need it instead of just leaving it on 24/7
Also have a 4TB WD Red that's waiting to be installed, I can finally rip my PS2 discs and BDs with plenty of room to spare
Hopefully it's not DOA since I don't yet have a matching 5TB external for backup...going to be stressful not having everything backed up. At least the 1TB still works, so I guess I could just throw that in an enclosure and use it in conjunction with my 1TB passport until I get that 5TB...
I know you're here CLCfag, show yourself
Plans are to get a 128GB M.s drive, get rid of the HDDs, and then load up on SSDs (probably six 240/256s). Also need to get that fourth 8GB stick at some point.
thinking about adding one additional fan in front to push some more air to gpu.
also 500 gb ssd so i can ditch normal hdds completely.
Still waiting for some new stuff for my new build. A pump/res and a 40.2 rad
Planning on getting a 980ti, and possibly upgrading my 2500k if it bottlenecks the hell out of it.
Nice, nice. I bought the Asus version because I heard lots of people have problems with the TP-Link version, but with the Asus being RED and my build being BLACK/GRAY, I'm kinda torn.
I think I may need to do some work on it but I think it's fine for now.
>g3258 @ 4.5GHz
>GTX 660 OEM (660ti with less shaders)
>wd 1TB + 40GB SSD
>LTO3 drive with HP P400i controller
Cost me $300
I've since put another 120mm fan in the front.
clean/10 not a fan of msi but hey looks nice
looks ghetto, a bit anyways...
dat aircooler tho, fucking behemoth
dat small form factor senpai
get cleaner looking loop and you'll be golden
nigga wat is that Gpu pairing ?
not a fan, sorry.
that's pretty smexy
I'd change the cpu cooler but otherwise it's nice.
C L E A N Y O U R B U I L D
Ghetto ass build
Which gpu's are those ?
Only thing I'll be looking at for the new year is a new gfx card depending on how the new die shrinks end up performing
What's up with your physics score? My 4790k @ 4.8GHz gets 13282. Surely you can get some sick nasty OC on that loop right?
I think I might take out my dust filters tomorrow and spray them off but other than that I can't imagine ever changing this machine.
Cleaning is coming up and I'm probably going to flush it at the same time.
Well good luck, I hope you win on the silicone lottery! I've tried 5.0 on mine but it wouldn't even properly boot. 4.8 worked and Ive never tried any number inbetween.
A friend of mine from SKY got 5.0 stable on his 4790k on a custom loop. I mad jelly.
No I'm not fucking serious, but I'm not also going through the effort right now to change it.
If you have followed threads for the last year you would know I've wanted to add it to the damn loop.
>sitting at 4.7
anyone know of a decently priced psu that comes in white that has connectors like the ultra x4?
I plan to get a set of white sleeved power cables and id rather use them than the cables directly connected to a psu
>>Weeaboo NEET fag who loves Asuka
>>Shitty choice in components
>>Tries to color coordinate like the reddit fag he is but chooses ugly green RAM, probably because he couldn't afford anything better
>>Shitty fucking loop with ugly tubing and couldn't even afford compression fittings because of budget
>>HDDs in 2016
>>Corsair in 2016
>>Radiator outside case
Poor bait, 0/10, I've seen better builds on 9gag that cost $250.
From an R4 to an R5, you're not likely to notice any difference. You need to ask yourself what a new case can do for you that your current case doesn't do already. If you can't answer that, save the money or spend it on something else. The last time I changed cases was when I decided to have a go at water cooling.
The CLC was purchased first, The cards didn't even have blocks for them, had to get one for a different version card and grind the copper down to get it to fit.
>ugly green ram
well it was $500 for the ram on release. I wasn't going to pay an extra $200 for some coverings.
paid to go to school by the Gubment
you don't have a backup drive?
>trying this hard
it's okay poorfag.
What do you have against Asuka and Unit 02? You think you could challenge Za Beasto and win?
I'm thinking about getting an R4 soon.
Bought a cheap FM2+ mobo and an A10-7800 for my little brother this christmas. Assembled everything up and I'm getting 60C on the CPU just by being on BIOS. I've tried reseating it twice now.
What are the chances that the mobo/cpu is faulty? Am I just too stupid to install the hsf properly?
Haven't found a way to make the fan cables and motherboard header cables look less shitty. But overall I'm pretty happy with it.
Its simple, use the included splitter and run that through the grommet to the backside. Run the fan cables through to the back side, along the fans where they can't be seen. Plug into splitter. Ezpz.
Plans: Get new case.
This goddamn case is a nightmare to manage cables on, and this picture is pretty much the best anyone can accomplish with the godforsaken thing.
This attempt was brought about when I swapped out all the SATA cables for ones with clips since the old cables kept coming loose.
INB4 clean your build
I live in a dusty as fuck area and that shit is impossible to keep clean.
gonna redo the loop and make it prettier, maybe get into hard tubing
The PSU I have is semi-modular, two 8-pin CPU power lines and the mainboard power are both integrated. And the case I have does have dust filters, but that didn't save fuck all.
Hoping to get a Corsair Carbide Series 300R or Cooler Master HAF 912 as my new case.
Looks alright, the tubes look shitty though.
oh shit deleting image nao. my bad. am i cool now?
Holy fuck boys we got a fucking pasta squanch over here.
Isn't the lightning a fucking beast? I was running 1250 core 1500 mem stable at like 70c for a while but idk if I fucked my card up doing that or something cause now it runs at 75ish at 1150 1400 and gets too hot for my taste at 1250 1500
Getting a 4690k and new mobo. Any tips on what to do when changing motherboards?
sorry I am a bit new but I was hoping someone could tell me before I finish building my power supply has two connectors for vga on 2 wires. I only have one graphics card at the moment do I just use both from one connector, or one from each?
it has been a while but I'll post mine with new parts.
Need to hide my pci aux cables (which can and will be done regardless the case size)
well I mean like this >>52207396
see he is using what looks like 2 different ones for both graphics cards. my psu has connectors with two on each connector what I wanna know is each connector intended for 2 graphics cards if I had two or are both intended for one card?
pic related except mine is two 8 pin connectors with 2 on each separated from the others
Raijintek Metis. Got a new one though, but it's still a work in progress. Just threw it together for some quick cooling performance testing.
And? It's hardly a rare sight, AMD GPUs usually offer the best value for money especially when you get second hand likely mined with cards like me. If you expect me to also have an AMD CPU, I see no reason to other than to match.
inwin is such an inefficiently build case that it forces such lopsided tech choices (gtx 680 + dominator + crappy cooler + 760i)
Find a better mitx case to unleash your creativity. This case is limiting you.
color matched custom sleeving
painting yellow GPU shroud white
get a GPU backplate
design a case decal
possibly get matching SSDs
Build entirely new system at the end of the year. Probably X99 for work and delegate this for gaming only.
While I have picked a new case, I was in no-way limited.
I was reusing a old GPU, it was by no means forced. And the cooler was more than adequate, CPU temps under load never exceeded 60°C, and same for the GPU
Those were always a pet peeve of mine on cable management. Had a system where the video card wanted two 6-pin connectors - now I have two unused 8-pin connectors dangling off into space nearby. #firstworldproblems
Rate if you would like. BTW its updated but shit picture my phone sucks and i suck at taking pictures.
Is there a general guide people follow for sleeving cables? I'd love to do it to clean up clutter, but there's 50 billion guides on google, and they all generally say different things.
The GPU power cables used to have Purple UV reflective sleeves, but one of them wasn't working right so I just kind of chucked the spare ones the PSU came with on and gave up on cosmetics all together shortly after.
>What cooler is that? How does it compare to the NH-D15?
Bequiet dark rock pro 3. I don't own an NH-D15 so I cannot compare them. My gut feeling would be that the NH-D15 would be a little cooler but a little louder too.
it's ok it's a work in progress. I originally had two graphic cards on the loop but I had to remove them as lazily as possible. so I removed the clc still intact and drained the liquid to the radiator holding all the fluid in. Then I removed the two blocks and just threw a hose in there to complete the loop.
Everyone here in these threads looks for computer builds like people want look for in porn; clean, shaven, fully lubed, disease free, and more. That ain't me.
I like mine like a beaten whore after stomping on it a few times. She's an ugly sonnabitch but she'll play games without breaking a sweat.
the problem is you believe the athletics could be better, but it's not a fag in a dress.
there is only one you should follow and it's one of the first google search results.
but since you want to be spoon-fed ya dweeb here's the one I followed.
I'm going to clean it up a bit more when I get some better looking cables.
I'm currently moving into a new house, so nothing is going to happen for a while.
Since I don't want to make a new thread I figure this is the best place to ask about cases.
A while ago I remember seeing a bunch of cases coming out with interesting layouts which seemed quite appealing except that most of them were itx focused and restrictive of what kind of hardware you could fit in them. I'm wondering if there's a case with a layout like the one in my picture that's big enough so that it would allow me to put in pretty much anything but not be too large to put on my desk?
