Post marketing gimmicks.
>>
>>45900415
I don't care how gimmicky it looks.

If it doesn't affect the board itself in a negative way, it looks great, and probably even does what it claims.
>>
>>45900439
Are you serious? you're going to insert little rubber dildo-caps into ALL the plugs on the back of your computer? That sounds so ridiculous from an amount-of-effort-required perspective; it probably impedes airflow too so it will cause heating issues...
>>
>>45900439
I bet you like sucking cocks too.
>>
>>45900455
Impedes airflow? Hwhat?
>>
>>45900439
>and probably even does what it claims

Dust doesn't "degrade" the motherboard in any way at all. Its a useless placebo for a made up problem.
>>
>>45900465
Nah, I love sucking cocks. When I get a chance to suck a cock I'm at my happiest, really.
>>
>>45900479
Then it keeps dust out better for a component clearly designed for a ricer shithead with a glass window case.

> STOP LIKING WHAT I DON'T LIKE
>>
>>45900501
Nobody ever said you cant like it. Just that it's a deceptive piece of marketing.

Quit getting so defensive

Air comes through the gaps in those holes at some point right? There was a how-to on /g/ recently for people who owned motherboards with the orange and black sound connectors, and USB ports they didn't use, about how to bore them out and remove the electronics behind them to create more holes for airflow. I assume that if you have done that, which many people on here have, that you'd be impeding airflow with these anti-dust caps.
>>
>>45900439
you're better off use dust filters on the case than trying to cover everything internally

with case dust filters you're likely to replace a component before any appreciable amount of dust gets in there

>>

>>
Factory clc is pretty gimmicky but not 100%. Cools about as well as a good hsf but is usually a bit quieter and much more compact.

ancient, but cold cathode lighting. One company actually used to advertise their clue cathode tube made the computer run cooler till they got sued into oblivion over false advertising.

OC socket bypasses the integrated FIVR and allows for significantly cache and memory overclocking.

There's also a rumour this is actually the skylake socket and all Asus need to do is to update the bios for full compatibility.

No, it really was an advertizement for a subscription to a service in which the user paid a significant monthly fee for the privilege to buy (at quite an expense) an upgrade every 12 months.

Yes, it was a rip off, but it wasn't some kind of complete misunderstanding of what "never obsolete" would mean.

Why would Intel need a new socket after two or so years? Is 1155 already bandwidth saturated? I find it strange that Intel would force consumers to upgrade other parts of their system for a simple CPU upgrade.

The main reason you don't even get to BIOS setup is some kind of hardware failure, which means the case have to be open anyway. Another possible scenario is locking yourself because of password, but you have to be seriously retarded to do this even once. Well, unless this is not your machine, but then the owner is retarded.

What the fuck? I've never, ever had a problem with dusty external connectors. And no motherboard can change the fact that dust will get into the case as long as there's a fan blowing into it, even with dust filters.
Also, all those little crevaces in those dust guards sure look like a cozy home for some dust, and if you can't remove every last piece of plastic to dust off your motherboard then that shit will be stuck in there forever.

The only way to get a dust-free motherboard would be to cover everything that isn't a connector with epoxy, making it completely unserviceable. Add an airtight PC case and a water cooling system (with the radiator and fans sitting outside of the case, of course) for literally everything that needs active cooling and you could have a system that only collects dust on the rad/fans outside the case. Would be neat, but hella impractical.

IPC depends on many criteria like pipelining, plus you have take SIMD into account. What you're given in stats is a value for some test code that's supposed to too like typical code ran.

A better metric would be single and double precision FLOPS.

EMI is a cumulative effect, as long as the solid state amp and the majority of the caps are covered the PSNR will significantly drop. Also EMI does not just pore in through a hole, it is a field effect. That shield will be extremely effective at attenuating any EMI in a system.

Sound card interference causing issues may be uncommon, but it does happen. Having a sound card next to the gpu can make it so interference is picked up. This noise is often noticeable when using a microphone. Just look up threads of people creating their own EMI shields out foil because of EMI from fan motors or complaining about buzzing from their sound cards. Just because you have never had the need for one does not mean that EMI shields are useless.

Only if you're willing to drop more money for a Haswell Pentium in combination with a 750ti to compare against. At which point you can get a more powerful system for the same money should you not care about power consumption.

Even under these conditions it is close between the two.

no, because newer sensors have better quantum efficiency. This is a newer sensor with larger pixels. Instead of using that higher QE to push a higher res they used it to improve low light capturing. Yes the name is ridiculous, but it does do something.

> The HIS iClear card is HIS latest solution to video card noise reduction. It has an excellent implement of state-of-the-art design and technology and give you a better gaming experience by reducing the distortion and noise generated from graphic card. It reduces the noise distortion generated from high-end graphics card (from both Radeon and GeForce), TV tuner card and even Hi-Fi Sound Card, and provide up to 10% increase performance on Signal-to-Noise Ratio.
By reducing the distortion and noise generated from the graphics card, it gives the user a better video and gaming experience.

> HIS iClear is a card to be installed into any PCI-Express slot (1x, 4x, 16x). You are recommended to install this filter between a graphics card and a device to protect from noise.
> HIS iClear card provide up to 10% increase performance on SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio)
> HIS iClear card reduce the noise distortion generate from the highend graphic card or TV tuner card

> HIS iClear card provides a better image with clear picture
> HIS iClear card provides better gaming experiences by reduce the distortion and noise generate from graphic card.
> It can eliminate the noise generate from high-end card such as ATI Radeon 4000 series & Nividia graphic card to provide a "clear picture" when they are in use. HIS iClear card provides an ultimate HD experience by reduces the distortion and noise generate from TV tuner card.

This thing appears to be discontinued, but cost $70-$100 new when it was being sold, for basically zero benefit.

Why would you want a sheet of plastic over your motherboard to protect from dust? Now you can't clean dust off it if dust gets inside which it will. If you want to protect from dust, that's what you get a decent case with filters for.

Knew it would be here somewhere. I wouldn't say it's necessary but it's sure not a gimmick. It's a very nice thing to have, especially on a smaller screen.

>>45901956
Of course, it's only representative of the technology. You have no other way of comparing high DPI to low DPI using only a low DPI screen.
It's like me trying to show the quality of FLAC but only using 128k MP3
>>
>>45902286
That is still mostly placebo, though.

Low light performance is mainly dependent on total sensor size.

What really happens is: with a higher megapixel camera people tend to enlarge the image further, and then they see more noise.

And software noise reduction works better with higher megapixels.

>noise reduction work better with higher megapixels
>people enlarge the image further and see more noise

nope, unless you are confusing aliasing with noise

Your signal to noise ratio drops as you make the pixel smaller, that is why larger pixels are better for low light. It is not a placebo, it is the same effect that film grain has on noise (film ISO). This is basic physics, see http://www.clarkvision.com/articles/does.pixel.size.matter/

>>45900415
I would only imagine this makes build-up worse, because you can't see all of the dust that's going to build up under that plastic and you'll end up leaving it there.
Besides that dust doesn't really matter unless it's in fans, heatsinks or any place where it might start a fire.

What people forget is that the benefit of the larger pixels are offset by the reduction in number of pixels.

What you say only holds true when you crop an image to 100%.
Which is what people tend to do when comparing image quality becasue they want a "closer look".

When you look at the full print there is hardly any difference.
Probably no difference at all with back-lit sensors in fact.

Reply to the haters on this. Disclaimer. I own no apple products.

Apple is a marketing powerhouse and nobody can deny that they dont deserve their marketshare. Ive had google wallet since 2012 and never used it. Apple pay comes out and suddenly its everywhere. Retina is only a marketing term for high dpi devices from apple sure but thats its strength. Even in a review of a competing device you'll see, 'higher dpi than a retina display' further enforcing the idea that this display is the one to beat. To the average person saying hi resolution mean nothing saying something stupid like right now display ohh my god is all that matters
