What are you tech resolutions for 2015?
Mine is to sell or throw away most of my shit and go totally minimalist.
Yeah, because living in a completely barren environment with only a laptop to entertain you is really good for your well being.
Go outside, you don't need to adopt meme lifestyles.
>tech resolutions for 2015
I vow to finally use several boxes of parts, new and quality pulls, to build two new systems and overhaul two more.
I would only need to buy trivial support parts (like a couple fans, a cooling block, thermal paste). Everything else is sitting there most of a year waiting for me to have time. Cases, mobos, RAM, hard drives & SSDs, etc. Could have a Phenom II Deneb 975 running by 10 Jan if nothing comes up. Could overhaul a Core 2 Quad 3 GHz machine, which needs some case mods in addition to RAM and a PCIe USB 3.0 card.
2ndary achievement unlock: functional *BSD desktop environment to play & learn with. Haven't touched a BSD install in almost 10 years and want very much to see how evolved the modern ones have become. Hard Mode: PC-BSD looks very entertaining. The Core 2 Quad mentioned above with 4 GB DDR2 RAM and an SSD plus old GTX 460 GPU should rock a BSD hard & awesome.
>implying that's the definition of minimalist
>implying you know my life
>What are you tech resolutions for 2015?
I'd like to get a /g/irlfriend
why do women take camwhore shots of themselves? do they fap to images of themselves or something? i personally avoid taking pictures of myself...
>take low-light picture
>apply a filter
>put it on instagram
>check the positive comments everyday to make themselves feel extra special
You'd probably do it too if you were an attractive woman.
It boosts self esteem and forces you to take care of your body.
I don't do tinder nor any of those dating sites becuase that feels forced. Perhaps one day I'll grow up and just settle for ONS. If not, then I'll become old and jaded sexless person.
I think there's something to this. I even think /g/ has its own version of this in battlestation threads.
How many people's battlestations do you think were cleaned up in the 5 minutes before they took a photo of it? How many of those battlestations do you think would have been organized that day if not for that thread?
I think these selfie-"narrative" photos (ie whether it's a picture of your body or of your room or whatever) serve to remind people to make themselves public. How they interpret that is up to them (I've seen some people relish in the disaster that is their room) but it's not altogether surprising that on a non-normative site like 4chan people take the "public" cue and go the "other" way with it. For the most part, battlestation and bedroom threads are the only things keeping people on /g/ from letting their homes, desk spaces, etc... from going completely off the rails.
Not a grill but I would cuddle/fuck you :'3
She's as real as it gets. It's the same Mexican girl from this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iq_d8VSM0nw
Here is more evidence of it being real. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_o0IZWo9WHk
This is one of my plans.
I would like to build an awesome desktop set up that's simple and makes me feel relaxed whenever I sit down. Dark desk, low profile peripherals, comfy chair.
I'm doing a diploma in ICT next year so I want to use that knowledge to start building the foundations of my own security/privacy company and also an online community for knowledge and content sharing with a bit of socializing on the side.
I also want to convince my boyfriend that it's time for XP to go on his computer because it's really irritating sharing files with him via flash drives right now.

go find a cute asian prostitute and get it done. really. i did it at 24 and it was the best decision i can think of from the past year.
sex isn't all that amazing, but it is nice, and it's something that society insists is a big deal, but nobody really cares what the circumstances were for the guy's first time, so just go get it done and know you're not a virgin anymore.
Let's be clear on what the argument is here.
You and I both agree that, in objective terms, whether your penis has been inside someone else or not is pretty inconsequential. There's no good reason to have a very strong principled objection to paying someone for sex.
If we're debating anything, it seems that it's whether society places some value on virginity. I don't think it's controversial to say that women are expected to be virgins, and paradoxically men are expected *not* to be virgins. If you want proof, look at movies where the premise is the guy's inability to bed a woman; this is the *foundation* of jokes. The protagonist's virginity is seen as a total failure to relate to people.
In literally any and all cases where you have no principled objection to doing X, and doing X is strongly expected of you by society, you should either do X or find a principled reason not to do X. Otherwise you're making a choice to endure social alienation for no principled reason.
We dont have asians in eastern europe. But thanks for the advice,I have one more shot on new years eve with the girl on the left (pic related). We made out heavily last year at the same time but she didnt want anything afterwards,so i stoped contact. With a little luck i think i can pull it off like a one night stand, but we will see what will happend.
No morphing tool used. That bitch is thick.
Thanks.also to note we made out when we first met.we didnt had contact up to that point.next day I asked if she wanted to see eachother again she said no gently.Yes she fucked other dicks but i dont care up to this point i just want to get my situation resolved,if it doesnt I will pay for sexual encounter.
>Make a mobile app
>Make a website for my families new biz
>Get involved with robotics/quadcopters, AR/VR etc because they are cool as fuck and in my eyes it's the logical solution to a lot of todays problems.
>Probably enroll for a CS degree at uni. I'll have to investigate a bit more to see if its what I want.
>Play less vidya
Revert from tablet to either pen & paper or proper keyboard
Revert from tablet to either physical book/newspaper or kindle-alike e-reader
Get rid of tablet
Get rid of smartphone, revert to dumbphone
Revert to half/thumb size mp3 player (who would have thought that in 2015 progress would have been = "carry around this giant brick that does everything, but nothing really good"; that's against the basic rules of the UNIX way)(with a microSD I can store 32GB in songs, why should I carry a fucking expensive brick that's jack of all trades, master of none)
Revert from tablet to proper camera. If any.... the inflation of tools in this area has given us all sort of cancers, from instagram to selfies.
Get everything offline, burn DVD and CD for long term archives (it's what has proved to me to be more reliable and usable so far)
Do not use *any* google service (insofar I've just an old gmail still lying around)
Stop browsing this shithole
>build a file/media server
Nigga it isn't even that hard, just find a cheap low powered device that connects to the internet and that has default file sharing capabilities. You can even get away with using an RPI if you're masochistic.
Attractive people do it, not just women. You spend most of your time on a male dominated internet website, so that's why you only see pictures of women.
Go to blog websites, like tumblr and you'll see men posting pictures of themselves and women sharing them.
Finally get round to learning Powershell. I'm primarily a Windows admin but I prefer shell/Bash. since I can't really install cygwin on production servers it's time to suck it up, get over it being crap and just learn it.
Buy a laptop to replace my shitty old desktop.
The thing is, this 5 year old piece of shit still works pretty well, and I don't like buying something because I want it and not because I need it.
It's got every feature I could possibly want (aside from SSH) but I just don't like the verbose syntax, I prefer the terse bash one-liners to having to declare variables and type out huge.long.strings.of.text to do the same thing I can do with a series of single word programs and pipes.
Still, time to suck it up and get learning it.
As soon as I relocate to my permanent duty station where I actually have a real mailing address I'm going to build my desktop. Fuck using laptops for the past 5 years. That and maybe getting a raspberry pi and fuck around with it so I can actually have a baseline knowledge of coding and real computing.
it seems like people always think that they need to buy something before they can get started doing something. Just like New Years Resolution fags feel like getting in shape is pointless until they blow a hundred bucks in starter fees and membership dues for a gym, then go run on the treadmill - something they could've done by putting their shoes on and walking outside.
>What are you tech resolutions for 2015?
Finish at least 2 side projects that could generate some small cash on the side.
Be more thorough with backups and monitoring.
Make at least one cool thing at work every work day, and one cool thing per week in my free time.
Become an expert at something, because generalists don't get the high paying jobs.
Did you know that the Pi was initally intended as a low cost computer to teach programming? The great thing about the Pi is that it happens to be powerful enough to use with a standard ARM Linux install and various applications on top of it.
>a low cost computer to teach programming
For poor students that could not afford their own computers, yes.
That guy has just said he has a laptop. That laptop is much better than the Pi for programming.
What was your point, exactly?
>Did you know that the Pi was initally intended as a low cost computer to teach programming?
yeah...for those who don't already have a computer
you can learn to code right fucking now
The point is that the Pi is specifically designed to be a teaching device and that there are many resources designed for the Pi to actually make use of the Pi. Yes, anybody can learn programming on a x86 laptop, but you're not likely to make use of this computer's many features without some CS/EE graduate to guide your instruction. The Pi architecture is simple enough that the learning materials are small enough to guide you through the features of the Pi.
Also, there is no need to type anything or compile anything on the Pi itself. You can use a high powered desktop machine for the coding and compiling and then transfer the binary code to the Pi.
still, you can start learning some python now so when you actually get the pi you can do something with it, trust me man I've been there
>get gifted a RPi
>boot it up
>fuck around for like 10mins on it
>never use it again
I just code on my desktop
Generalists can become software consultants. I finished my CS and Electronic Engineering degrees and marketed myself as a consultant. Businesses hire me for advice and if I need more specialist advice, I know who to turn to while the business or IT leader won't necessarily know where to go. This way, I don't actually need to spend about 6 months to study beyond the basics of some highly specialized discipline - I just need to know someone who is and who will work for me.
pipe dream. what are you gonna do with her? lock her in the basement, impregnate her, and force her to have abortions whenever she starts to show?
I think your imagination is too small to see the value of the Pi. The Pi is actually cheap enough that it's actually feasible to buy enough Pi for a class of 30 students for the students to muck about on and then keep after class. When you're writing software for the x86 machine in a school computer lab, these tend to be locked down. A personal Pi means you can mess up the software of the Pi as much as you want as you explore the depths of an unrestricted Pi.
Inb4 you advise to install a virtual machine with a linux image
Get rid of all my beta software and stop early adopting new tech.
>tfw my phone has a higher resolution my my computer
Exactly none of that applies to that guy.
No one ever said that the RPi is useless in general, it's just useless for that guy, because of the exact reason that >>45820409 provides.
If you actually have to buy seperate hardware like the RPi to learn programming, you're not really going to get it done. If you actually wanted to program, you'd just use your laptop instead of waiting for something.
I'm gonna get rid of my Macbook so that people stop making fun of me.
This is no joke, I can't even put it on the desk anymore without somebody noticing and badmouthing it (and also myself, because apple sheep and what not).
Gonna get a Thinkpad T440 instead. Fuck this shit.
