Ubuntu only.

What were they thinking?
Do plebs get satisfaction of using bloat?

As a complete greenhorn with linux I like it so far a lot more than mint or ubuntu. Its the only one out of the 3 that doesn't look like complete shit right out of the box.

Like Jesus, what were they thinking with Unity?

Installing GNOME 3 on Arch gives you a much better experience.

The plethora of tools provided by
Fedora allows me to get the job done.
It just works.
>>
>>45702699
It does, and honestly, I don't mind it. XFCE is better, but GNOME is 1000x more tolerable than unity.

>>45702695
I'm pretty new and from what I've observed Arch seems to be considered a distro for people who are somewhat experienced and also care about ricing, and I don't fall into either of those categories.

It's not bad, it's just infested with systemd. infact fedora was one of (if not the) first distros to adapt it.
also

>>45703000
I like systemd. Honestly I'd be happy if Debian updated GNOME more often.

What distros DON'T use systemd?
>>
>>45703211
gentoo and some other reallyt obscure ones.

why Gentoo ofcourse.
why did you think it's /g/ approved?
It's also possible to remove the cancer from arch but it's not easy.
you can also block debian from installing systemd
smaller distros also may still be using sysvinit

It's not bait. Arch is fucking horrible maintained by amateurs who literally have to copy everything Fedora does to survive. If you want to run a real bleeding edge distro then run rawhide (which is where Arch gets all of its core packages from)
>>
>>45705113
6/10, made me reply.
>>
>>45702625
Only right answer in the thread.
>>
>>45702868
Arch is for people who want to feel experienced without putting the work in to run Slackware.
>>
>>45705113
Red Hat's package system is horrible, same as Debian's. Modifying packages is a nightmare and there's no fucking guide for this for either of those. I just fuck packages and install to /usr/local, praying it won't bite me (I have the misfortune of working with Ubuntu and a little Cent Os at work).

I'd rather use makepkg or maybe portage.

As for bad distros, Debian and anything derived from it, especially Ubuntu and it's derivatives, because of the aforementioned build systems and plenty of other issues associated with package management.
>>
>>45705999
Yes, I know you. You're the retard that thought that CentOS and Fedora has the same build system.
>>
>>45705999
>!NezumipFxw
>>
>>45706023
Please explain differences between build systems on Fedora and CentOS. They're using rpms, I doubt it differs significantly. In either case, I heuristically assume it's horrible as well. I can be wrong, sure, but I won't waste my time by testing my hypothesis. At least not now. I have a job and don't have much time to fuck around.
>>
>>45706062
>I heuristically assume it's horrible as well
A true sign of ignorance. No wonder you only use Arch.
>>
>>45706074
That's not ignorance.
Ignorance would be me being informed of something and ignoring it.
That's a lack of knowledge, motivation, and most importantly, time.

Please link me to an article about rebuilding packages on Fedora. Unless I'm being trolled, in which case pleas kindly fuck off.

Thinking about installing this tonight but I've heard CentOS is a hell of a lot more polished at the cost of more bloat. (Fuck do I know, I just installed Mint about two weeks ago on a different box. This will be my first experience with YUM and .rpms)

You make the call /g/ CentOS or Fedora?
>>
>>45709194
CentOS is for servers or cheapskate enterprises. On a personal computer I'd choose between Ubuntu, Fedora, openSUSE and Debian Testing.
