Which distro? It shouldn't be that bad. I've been using Linux for a whole two days now and it's easy enough to set up if your Google-fu is strong. Took me only two hours to get my video card shit working the way I wanted and that's only because I couldn't figure out how to get my resolution to stop resetting. Protip: Set resolution in both your video card's manager AND the display options.
