It depends. I generally call the usb storage devices "usb sticks" or "usb drives". I rarely use the terms "thumbdrive" or "pendrive" unless I'm talking to someone who uses those terms.

If it's not a storage device but some other peripheral I'll usually refer to it as a "dongle"
