Old thread just about capped
The show must go on, Battlestation thread.
dumping this one to show i'm grateful
Are you seriously going to get a Model M and CRT just because some random anons said your room looks like it belonged to a 16 year old?
Nope, i'm getting it because i want a second monitor (Not only want, starting to feel some need of it) and a mechanical keyboard. But i have no money to invest in a good flat monitor and a brand new mech so i'll try to do my best on a budget.
And i have other priorities and stuff to spend my money on right now, so i can't bother myself to spend 600$ on a keyboard+monitor.
Anon said room look like 16yo because of the posters/wall anyway.
Lookin really busy.
little humble setup 5/10
Neat as always. Not a fan of anime but i'm glad you have some sort of hobby. :]
Software Engineer. I make apps most of the time, it's an ok job.
My only motivation for the endless daily grind is buying even more cute little girls. Hence my ever growing collection.
Is it harder to code a small graphical physics engine, or a random number generator?
You must speak slowly, and use small words.
I don't know, I need something to roll dice, potentially with the option to choose between true random and pseudo random.
Something that isn't copied from else where, though I couldn't make either at the moment.
Painting my room soon. What color? Should I get a projector and lose the TV?
Love the black on red. Looks nice. Small room?
You can get nice 50 dollar desks from Office Depot or Staples. You obviously have the room for a bigger desk. More importantly, get a nicer chair.
Messy, very messy, but what's that monitor in the center? Is it an LG?
Linus just did a video on your headphones. Amazing how much Sennheiser puts work into them.
Oh man, that dust. Get a wet rag man. Also, can you post your vinyl collection?
It's not longer red. I miss it very often. It definitely looks better in pictures. It was a nice set up. Planning something new and big though. And not too small, but small enough to restrict my space.
>14' • 11'
oops guess i forgot to dust before the picture haha
don't have a lot of vinyl but here are some of my favorites that i own (forgive potato quality)
>Plate of brownies with no milk
>Strange person on thinkpad screen
>National Treasure mouse pad
>Lonely beer bottle obviously trying to get with single poster on wall
>Strange stick in clock
>Light bulb shaped like uncircumcised penis
>Doll case unable to play Diablo III
>Desk too high for thing in chair to reach
>Overall pretty colors
>Floating system information box escaped from screen
>All that Ikea©
It's not bad. Mousepad is way to big and off center for my taste, but it must work fine for you. Maybe route your cables in pairs, hidden along your monitor riser legs.
The wall is a bit too far back for my liking and I can't mount the side monitors at an angle if they are on the wall. Also I'm buying a 42" TV off someone that will be mounted on the wall, probably in January.
I had a triple monitor stand back when I had 3x 21.5" monitors but it was a shit $60 from easymountlcd. I could never get the monitors to align right. There was one side about 2" higher than the other no matter what I did.
If I actually got a good stand I could probably angle the desktop, set the monitors back a bit more and raise them, maybe wall mount the speakers next to the TV? and then put the oscilloscope, function generator, a soldering station perhaps, and other stuff below the monitors. I don't really have any other ideas. I have no space for more furniture.
Hey, listen. I like IKEA.
I'm getting myself the 78" Linnmon tabletop, with some Alex 5-drawer units. Gonna use it for my triple monitor set up. A nice shelf above (also IKEA) for speakers and lighting. Should look good.
From the depths of /d/ i return!
If you wanna get a projector the ideal is that you get some courtains and make the room darker (maybe by painting it).
My dream is to get a projector, shit must be soo nice, on the other hand i'm poor, if i had the money i'd go on.
Me either. I'm the guy who buys the good looking Staples chair for $150 that is the comfiest I can find in store. Thing had lasted for ~2 years now, no real signs of wear yet. Good investment.
some faggot who's shaming his family by living in their backyard shed.
who also considers posting on /g/ 'job hunting'
he also buys computer parts instead of making his shed livable
If you are considering a projector, you have to consider the ergonomics of owning one.
You have to be able to completely (and I mean best case scenario pitch black) darken the room to achieve the best PQ, you'll have constant fan noise in operation (depending on the model, my Sony HW-15 is only ~12dB on eco-mode, my NAS is louder) and it won't be as quick to start-up and shutdown (heating up the Hg lamp and cooling it down on on/off).
The brightness gets worse the more hours you run it (although you won't notice it that much, it degrades gradually, slowly and not all that much as manufacturers want to make you believe). Replacement lamp for my model costs 120€, so factor that in if you're poor and going to use it a lot (currently at 1800 hours of my lamp's rated 3000 hours).
Projectors are really critical about where to place them, research throw distance and brightness at desired projection size, because you'll be wanting to operate the projector on lowest zoom possible, for best brightness / contrast. That's even worse with cheaper models that don't have lens shift features for easier placement options.
All things considered, I'd never go back because some things are just so much better on the big screen, for everything else I use my 1440p monitor.
I hate how bland my setup is. I'll probably get a poster or something soon but muh power level.
I like your desk.
nice keyboard u scrub
One of my favourite stations in these threads anon.
CRTs are nice but why buy an old hyped up keyboard when you can buy a new one for the same price?
I'm sorry, but I wont respect someone who has such low care as to make a plywood desk. It sickens me. maybe if he sold some of his shit he would be able to afford paint and a fucking cleaning rag.
doesn't seem like he's making progress, doesn't even seem to be working towards that game he wants to make
im worried about em, he always talks about doing something but never does, sounds like me to be honest
Actively comparing multiple things at once.
Multitasking, IE, gaming on one, chatting on another.
Gaming on multiple for surround.
Though most of these suck with mismatched displays.
Also most GOOD projectors (1,920 x 1,080, proper color/contrast, and low input lag) cost a lot of money. More than most good large TV's or monitors. Both of which are far more versatile.
Beautiful collection, love the Touhou merch
You can actually save a lot by buying used, because people are afraid of used lamps, which drops the prices.
I got pic related (Sony HW-15) with 400 hours on the lamp and prior confirmation for flaws for 900€ on eBay, just when the HW-20 was released (both HW-15 and HW-20 retailed for ~2500€).
That feel when your short cables are making spaghetti.
I'm going to look for the Model M on some shit place where they sell those old pc parts and white cases. And maybe you noticied that i live in Brazil so i can't just buy a mech for 100$, the cheapest ones go for $220 and i can't even get the switches i'd like (Browns).
>Implying they sell FW900 in shithole countries
Yeah, if i wanted to look cool guess i'd just buy any shit with leds on it. Whole point of the CRT and Model M are the price tags for me. I probably won't find it but hope is the last one to die, right? CRT is easy tho, with the 'boom' of the LCD/LED people are selling their shit for like 10$ or giving it away.
-Moved my receiver up from the media cabinet
-Put away my razer gear, got a fucking huge mouse pad so i don't have to adjust the placement every couple of hours.
